  1. Hi All, Long time no post. I received my Wessex kit yesterday and first impressions are very good but take out a magnifying glass and look at the decal sheet... The 9 in the XV719 registration looks a bit odd and the stencils for around the side windows say "NO AND HOLD" Sure I spotted another one somewhere but worth a look if you have the kit in your hand.... Craig.

Cheers Guys The metal finish is Alclad polished aluminium over an airbrushed Humbrol gloss black coat with a bit of shading added afterwards with Alclad dark aluminium and magnesium. Alclad has to be my favourite metal finish and it's surprisingly easy to use with an airbrush. I also did a Mustang in the dark aluminium Here and a humongous 1:48 scale B-29 in the same finish, Here. That was a challenge! Craig.

Hasegawa for me. Beautiful kit that went together perfectly and the detail is great. I added a Eduard set and resin wheels but other than that, As supplied. Craig.
  4. Well, I'm happy to say that all my bits are there, I checked each and every sprue very carefully to make sure. However the 2 bits you have said were missing from your kit are just about hanging on the sprue's in mine. They are there but on the verge of dropping off so it's easy to see how they did in packaging. Hope you get your replacements quickly and easily. Craig.
  5. I've got one of these sitting in the stash, I'll check it too in case any of my bits are missing. Cheers Craig.
  6. Yep, Done it myself. I duplicated some kit bags, sand bags and barrels in 1/35 scale to fill up the back of an opal blitz truck. I used bluetak and have tried playdoh as the mould then used liquid resin from Halfords as the casting material. Off course you will have a flat top to the part where you pour the resin in and the resin does destroy the mould when you remove it but it did work quite well. The resin always seemed to come out slightly sticky though. I imagine 5 minute epoxy will work just fine so long as it flows into the mould without leaving air bubbles. Good luck Craig.
  7. Excellent, I thought at the time that would make a great little kit on it's own. Plenty of carrier based aircraft it could be posed with on a flight deck diorama. Yours is looking good by the way, Must get back to modelling again to hone my weathering techniques. Craig.
  8. Hmmm, Does sound suspiciously similar dosen't it. Just found a picture of my Corsair with the tug on the back. Looks like a big yellow chock on the side as well...... Corsair picture link Craig.
  9. Do you know if this is the same tug as was packaged with the 1:48 F4 Corsair a while ago? I built one of those once and it was a nice little kit in itself. Plane wasn't too bad either. Craig.
  10. I have that B-36 boxing and these are the decals that are in the box..... These are photographed decals, not scanned but I do have a better quality image if you want it E-mailed to you. I can photograph the paint and decal page from the instructions as well if needed. Craig.
  11. Nice, That sounds a fairly large model. I have a Dragon 1/6 scale Kettenkrad that need putting together. Craig.
  12. You can get super glue removers that work very well. It turns the superglue into a sticky mess that can be wiped off easily. Works great for getting it off your fingers. Acetone does the same thing but just test it on the clear sprue first to make sure it dosen't affect the plastic. Craig.
  13. I built one of these straight out the box and it is a quite nice kit really. The kit engines build very nicely and once the cowlings are on you can't really see much of them. The cowling shape is what lets this kit down, I've painted and fitted the kit ones but if any aftermarket ones come along I'll remove them and replace them. Rubber tyres work but resin replacements, slightly flat at the bottom would be better. Craig.
  14. Here's some.... http://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=56888 I like how the first one to arrive has an engine shut down! http://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=31078 Craig
  15. One of my favourite planes and the Monogram kit is awesome. I built a KB29-p Tanker a while back out of one. As has been said, They were loaned to the RAF from the US after the war so they probably were identical apart from the markings. I will however have a look over the weekend in a few books I have as they describe the Washington's in a bit more detail. I'm currently in Edinburgh and the books are in Surrey! I'll be back. Craig.
