  1. I built it a bunch of years ago - not great but I think it is basically correct. As it look at the Dieppe raid.. A little dusty.. On its way to be taken care of by my dad since I am running out of space.. if you fancy making the subject ina bigger scale - that sheet is wodnerful. Pretty sure your son will love it. I have build a couple of George Beurling´s aircraft too and plan to make Dick Audet´s IXe.
  2. Yes, here: https://www.cybermodeler.com/hobby/decals/vpd/decal_vpd48006.shtml Or here instead: https://www.ultracast.ca/Victory-VPD48006-Spitfire-Aces-of-the-Empire-p/vpd48006.htm
  3. Cool, I´ll remember that and use a darker paint. Thanks! Not planned out the paints too much yet - just started to get the nasty primer on - I usually leave it for a while and work on it so figured I could look around a little then. Probably going for something high-shine.. if I can do it nicely. maybe stainless steel could work on those panels if the rest is lighter? iirc Kits-World had the cowling flaps in metal but the pictures I look at show them as painted (grey mostly).. Where is that bird by the way?
  4. Yeah, nice work! Don´t remember those areas to be that tricky.. But I might have cared less than I should! None the less - great job fixing it!
  5. Seats and belts are looking good. Nice work with the gaps too..Looks laborous..
  6. Magic..😊 When I pick up kits from the two local stores - I have to pass right outside some pretty decent places for beer.... Sadly my Eduard Spitfire Mk. IX glass broke this summer but those Spiegelau are pretty decent too! Starting to lay down Alclad GLoss Black - but had no reference picture out, lol.. Kinda know roughly where I need it (don´t want it on non-metal areas).. Boring stage right now, getting a good surface coat for the metals.. Spray, wait, look, polish, spray, wait.. 😕
  7. lol, yeah - looks weird, the beer and sausages. But then again, if it is a decent sausage.. (Såg ut som billig sketkorv först! ) Reminded me to go get a few beer for tonight.. I already commented the other pics elsewhere but I love the builds.
  8. Right.. I´ll guess there won´t be any big bags.. 😕 I´ll save them for some P-51D from Ie Shima or Iwo Jima I guess.. Speaking of that, some colleagues have seen me ordering decals, with pin-ups.. Commenting.. So i ordered the Microscale sheet with "Dirty Dick", "Dirty Old Man" and "Blue Pickle" - that´ll shut them up? Maybe.. Inhaling some sweet Alclad Gloss Black fumes so i can do the undersides..
  9. Yeah I know, I just like the look of it. I might make Dave Schilling´s later on though.. Ah ok, what were used on the Ms? Thanks guys!
  10. It´s the one (two Summer time) in Stockholm. Cool, I´ll have abetter look next time! When I walk to work or uni, I sometimes pass directly underneath when it goes in for landing, like STRAIGHT down.. The Police used to have something similar to that one you have here, I think.. But they bought Bell 429s a few years ago. Nice little thing you have there.. I´m tempted too..
  11. Thanks, great link. That´s the same pilot who described how he floew below the banks of the Seine on his egress I think? Very cool..
  12. That´s what they are called? Cool. Those I should have glued to the tanks on my M yesterday - and not the "pylons" to the wings as well.. >< I thought I had the tanks nailed down again - but i did not.. I did not know there was both folded and welded either, thanks! And the build is great as usual. Don´t think I have ever seen that subject, really nice. The "other" Balls Out is a fav however..
  13. Hmm, you seem to be right.. I was not aware of flat 150 gallon ones.. I think.. But I see others call it that too. I guess I avoid it and go for the big (don´t dare to say their volume now! ) ones on the wings only.. I put in the.. Things.. On the belly and wanted to give them a purpose so.. But nvm. Cool. Insignia blue and Azure blue - I´ll try that! I have decals for.... Hmm? Miss June I think (Microscale) as well as Dottie Dee. Edit: The drop tanks confused me again - despite that thread a few weeks ago.. How many flat tanks are there?? I see some call *this* 150, other 200.. Or am I looking at two different tanks.. lol Need to re-read all links I got.. 😕
  14. Ah ok! Yeah I saw numbers of 10.000 dollars to inspect and replace them. And those costs were a number of years old.. Probably not worth it. But you still DO see some with cuffs..!
  15. Yeah that looks good.. That is a beautiful build! I want my big hinkers on though - under the wings.. I realized I need a bird from each of 56th FS however so.. The kit is so wonderful, really gives the Jug justice! Pretty decent picture of two 200 gal (?) drop tanks here: (If I managed to get the timestamp right! - at 45.45) I kinda like that too, massive bags! Double D Jug? What paints did you use there by the way? The blues look great..
  16. Hi, I am a massive P-47 fan, yet this is my first time with the 1/48 Tamiya kit! And it has been started several years ago... I got busy with real life, had the wrong cockpit colour and so on. In the past I have built the smaller Tamiya in both the Razorback and Bubbletop config and older kits - but not this! Which is a shame since it is so wonderful! There will be more however... I had decals for David C. Schilling´s M but it lacked the fin fillét on the pictures I had - and I wanted that, I like the look of it back there. Dave Schilling is a really interesting guy though so I will have to make one of his other birds later on.. Instead I went for Kit World´s version of "Josephine My Flying Machine". But you do not get that text for the right side of the cowling.. So I might have to get Zot´s as well or something.. Granted, I know very little about the subject and the pilot. But I love the look! Used Mr Paint´s "Interior Dark Dull Green" (MRP-229 iirc) over a Stynylrez grey coat.. Which, hard to see here, did not look great - I needed a darker primer. So cover it up with Tamiya´s Flat Black and re-did it. Got some refreshments in the meantime.. The ale was a temporary offering at the local store.. Not drunk it for ages.:! Shitty picture by my window attempting to get decent light.. I also sprayed the spare cockpit part with Citadel´s Chaos Black. it is rough but the black undercoat gave me a better tone of the Dark Dull Green! Will use that part for some test-painting.. Pretty happy with the cockpit, the left seatbelt part is a little too far forward but i was afraid to remove it (CA glue).. So left it. It will bug me but it will not be visible, I think. Some of the details are bullshitted - not entirely correct.. But I tried to make it look good. Lost the kit´s decals some time so have no placards either (Might need to buy Thundercal´s stencils!) Need some polishing, masking and so on, before painting the wheel wells and on to the rest! Might not use the big belly tank.. We will see. But the big hinkers will be used!
  17. I knew about the auto pilot and arm rests (and the foldable pedals) but not about the ashtray! lol Might as well put ina fridge and so on too? Ah, I thought the cuffs on their propeller-blades were slightly different in shape, but you say the prop blades are, making the cuffs look different? Recently read up on cuffs, well, a bit.. Did not know they were made from rubber (?) and so on. Did not even know their purpose until recently.. I saw that our remaining J 26 at Flygvapenmuseum here, lacked cuffs but most pics (but not all!) had them with it so got curious.. (I wonder if our display J 26 had its props switched during its time in ISreale.. NVM..) Ah, alright.. Sounds like I´m going hard on the AM after all.. Ah well. I love my Jugs so.. Yeah! Does it hav e a piddle-tube like the P-51s? I think I rather take an N to Japan than a P-51D.. But then - Jugs > Mustangs.. (it´s close but..) @Tbolt - or anyone else for that matter, have you seen any P-47Ms with three drop tanks? In particular, 2x 150 (was it?) under the wings and something on the belly? Putting together my Tamiya one and glued those things on the belly.. Feels empty, a little bit, without a bag.. The big ones on the wings will go on but can i put a third on, of some sort..?
  18. lol, was there a cup holder too?? Thanks! I don´t think the cuffs are correct for the props in the kits? I´ll have a look tomorrow though. I have the Revell one so can check that (and the Tamiya I´m doing right now) Hmm, now I need to find an F-84 and butcher for those feet..
  19. That´s great info, thanks! Not easily found in many books.. Atleast not the ones I´ve checked out. Makes sense though.
  20. Ah, I have seen that bird but never realzied it hadn N-style fin fillét..! Too bad they never made an N, but I´ll gte by I guess.. There´s a couple of books I still need to pick up for refrences phots and what not..
  21. That´s a great project! I agree, it looks great and in fact, there is one flying above me right now.. I live right next to our trauma center here so a similar painted chopper is often coming in above me.. Wish i could paint something like that - instead I have to watch you, but that´s okay!
  22. Thanks. I got the decals today and they look good. Seems enough for quite a few birds! Loads of profiles.. Dunno why i got so hyped about them - but I was! Something new and fresh? The nice coloured tail, the emblem? Or did I think of those Brazilian bikini chickz built like P-47s??
  23. I am not really that knowledgable about their wheels, any model, anyways..😚 Just saw in my M-box that there were two variants.. And by the way - isn´t that an N-"spine"/fin fillét in there?? I guess it was never done.. 😕 But looks like one to me? And the third, no idea? Late D-model? (Thought it looked like the M´s?) I´ll have a look when in pops in and report back then..
