Please stop with the nonsense!!! We are modelers not supersensitive soyboys! Our hobby is all about making and showing our models that are depicting aeroplanes or flying warmachines that have been participating or had participated in wars allover the world.
By that twisted standard we should stop showing Axis, IAF and USAAF aircraft, not just Russian ones.
This Su-27 looks lovely and always will because the original airplane is the same.

It is done! No small achievement for any four engined aircraft model.
The main deficiencies have been corrected. It shows that Airfix B-17 with aftermarket guns is the best 1:72 B-17 model today.
However to my eyes it still looks too monotone and too clean. I'll stick to riveting and Model Master metalizer drybrushing when I get to building mine.

Although I despise Airfix kits I can only commend you on the great looking model that is really a tribute to the original.

I don't really think of it as a success. At least at that stage. The crosses look too sharp edged. Try to somehow soften them. If you have a decent airbrush it would work to lightly overspray them criss cross over each cross. I know it will be hard but the final result will look way better.

I have totally forgot about the existence of this kit. Maybe Hasegawa should have issued them more often? Stunning!

Just two things to correct on any Academy 1:72 kit! The lower frame of the pilot's sliding hood was noticeably higher and the upper landing gear covers should lean on the lower ones.

I have a single nitpick. As far as I know the G model retained the pair of 7,9mm machine guns in the wings for aiming purposes.
How come that they're absent on your model?

I do apologise if it was already explained but I would like to know why did you close the radio room hatch and waist windows? I think that such a big and detailed modern kit deserves to be displayed a bit better.

I did this model in those markings 10years ago and you really can't go wrong with it if you have a bit of experience.
Your model looks gorgeous with an exception of exhaust pipes. They look sloppy, soft and like they've been encrusted in mud.

I think that this has got to be one of the Airfix best aircraft kits and you sure rectified all shortcomings.

I will only comment the painting. I just don't see Dark Earth and Dark Green on your model. It looks to me as some sort of desert camouflage.

While more modern and detailed than Hasegawa, Academy kit just isn't true to the original. The fuselage spine, the spinner etc...

Now this is some serious work with properly painted interior too!
I have actually started working on this kit (rivets 'n all) only to discover that some sub minimum payed Indian worker forgot to pack all sprues in the box and Airfix had turned a deaf ear on my request.
I will urge you to replace all machine guns with aftermarket ones, otherwise they will really spoil the look of your model as they look like oversized 20mm cannons.

Very impressive!
I love building Hasegawa twin engined bombers from Ww2. But they're hard to get for a decent price. So far I've built three of them: B-26, B-25 and G4m2 Betty. The G4m2 is kinda similar to this kit in lacking details in certain areas. It's basically an empty shell with petite exterior. I'm afraid that the majority of PE details will be wasted/hidden from sight once the model is assembled so the focus should be put on quality painting, weathering, especially on clear parts.

And ofc. there is also that horrible soft plastic that leads to pebbly surface and soft detail. Let's just say that, since the original airplane was a bit crude affair, Airfix managed to make this one quite nice., but it really failed on other kits.
Tamiya, Eduard and even Hasegawa kits from 90s are far superior in sharpness and execution of various details.
BTW. do check up my model. I have also put in the pilot.

It certainly looks the part. My main gripe with this kit are notably thick wing edges on the back side.

Is this the latest trend or am I having troubles with my eyes? Shouldn't it be painted dark green instead of olive drab?
Otherwise it's a lovely tribute to P. Clostermann.

If you can and still have the will to do so, please make a bigger surface for both models. Let them breathe. As a diorama this just isn't it. At least for my eyes. Way too crowded.

I have Tamiya kit and I plan to stick with it, but I strongly dislike rockets. Would it be OK to use the very detailed ones from the new Eduard Tempest kit?

Thank you for the tip about the canopy. If I ever get one I'll test fit the windshield before glueing. Otherwise it looks the part!

Little do we know that your model is , at least for me, the very first completed Hobby Boss 1:72 C-47 that I have seen so far!!!
I have one in my stash and am eager to start it. It is an oustantigly sharp and detailed kit with few Chinese made glitches, but correctable.
