RAF Typhoons and Tornados to pair up over Syria
Gary West replied to Greased Lightning's topic in Real Aviation
Typhoons self designate so I wouldnt think so, perhaps more likely to be the first option if in fact true - when's the last time you saw a GR4 with self defensive ordanance (chaff aside). The report suggests the combination of both a/c capabilities work well for best results across many areas. -

I dont know any more than I added above and it could be in fact that these dates are wrong - taken from the book "Shackelton, Guardian of the sea lanes" - there is an image of a Mk1 flying over London with Westminster Abbey clearly below. Its definately a Mk1 in the image so it would suggest that there was another flypast. Sorry I couldnt add more info

Airfix Harrier GR.3, Cold Winter 1979
Gary West replied to Christer A's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
Id personally take this route - providing you apply the gloss coat adequetly and allow at least 24hrs drying, it should be ok over decals, especially if you use a low tack tape?- 10 replies

Gary West replied to Gary West's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Thanks all For sure, these new kits have everything included but in their own way, offer challenges. Just goes to prove what a classic that Monogram Harrier was :-) -
Harrier GR3 - Monogram & Airfix kits merged - 1/48
Gary West replied to Gary West's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
That's the one :-) -
The Monogram kit was re-scribed, the Airfix kit donated the Nose and tail sections only, resin cockpit, Flightpath CLB pod and decals are Sky. The 330 Gal ferry tanks were made by converting F-111 tanks and all paints are Tamiya Acrylics. The WiP thread id here http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234992202-harrier-gr3-merging-monogram-airfix-kits-148/

Gary West replied to bobsyouruncle's topic in Aircraft Cold War
As long as you dont present a parked Lightning with the air brakes open, its all good :-) -
