  1. Nice work Ian - I love seeing kits like this where the surface detail is all good and prepared.
  2. Certainly am - man & boy the RAF refer to the Navy as Fish heads and the RN refered to us as Crabs (right, absolutely no PILE jokes ok). 230 squadron actually not 33, but close. Good luck with your interview - please let us know how you get on.
  3. Our Hawk fleet diminshed by one today. Hawk crash
  4. God don't you just love it when your hard work gets totally sidetracked and the word "numpty" becomes the main talking point Nice looking Gannet Darren
  5. Fish Head Airways would be more appropriate
  6. Personally, I always use wood glue for canopies. Used sensibly, it does the job well, dries clear, and any excess is easily removed with a moist tissue without the danger of marking, unlike CA. Horses for courses though - (Admin horse emoticon please)
  7. I read this too - apparently the RAF refused to allow "Royal Navy" titles to be used on the a/c. I find it really hard to accept this, as surely it could go higher and the RAF over ruled if this was the case? Makes more sense to me, that the RAF's objection would be aircraft rotation and taking care of squadron unit badges is relatively easy.
  8. 1:72? whats wrong with the proper size Nev Incredible decal sheet though
  9. I very rarely use anything other than my airbrush but on the T8 because Halfords sprays are so dependable, I chose to spray straight from a can. I chose to go with a matt Black, because matt applies better than gloss, as you've pointed out is thinner, and less likely to fill in any shallow surface detail. Then I applied about 7 coats of Kleer with a nice broad soft brush, so no airbrush required. It has the be No 1 Squadron surely!
  10. Just a word of caution for anyone that hasn't dipped in Kleer prior to masking. I always dip my clear parts more or less as soon as I start a kit, because you do need to allow the Kleer to dry and harden thorougly before masking. If you do as I did, and mask a few hours after dipping, it can pull off some of the Kleer. I discovered the hard way as usual.
  11. Ditto - give it a go Julien?
  12. What's the deal on RN Harriers - will they actually be using them in the offensive role primarily, secondary or as one? Only ever seen photo's of RN Harriers with a fairly basic load, so just wondering if they would use the TIALD?
  13. Oo oo my fav subject A little bit of experience - I built the Maintrack T10 conversion a fair few years ago, and this is God awful. No interior detailing what so ever, but that is out there too on Ebay. I have the Heritage T8 in 1:48, which is built awaiting some cockpit detailing. (see link below I posted on ARC early last year) Not bad, and I would recommend this. ARC T8 I also have the Heritage T10 awaiting to be built. Heritage conversions aren't bad (given they are/were the only option) and they do have some interior detailing too - but of course a little styrene here and there and it would look half decent. The ALITALIANE version, I have only seen on the Internet. Shaun started a WIP thread on ARC...see below, and this uses the Alitaliane conversion. ARC T10 Gary
  14. Not sure still but most likely, either.........Lightning F6, Lightning T5, or Canberra T4
  15. What a fantastic collection - British aviation heritage basically. I've got a photo of my Dad helping restore that Thor missile somewhere. Thanks for posting these.
  16. C'mon admit it John, you spilt your coffee right? Granby schemes can be very hit or miss - you hit this one though.
  17. A Whirlwind with floats - never seen that before
  18. Looks like one of the reviews held at Yeovilton?
  19. So use that as the excuse to get another order from your client quids in.
  20. That's the difference Mike - I brushed mine on too
  21. God I hate you Phil - what a job sitting at home making models all day. Bloody nice that Hunter - love the weathering too, just right
  22. Well that would follow what has always happened to single seat fighter units. 17 sqn's days are numbered - as the OEU anyway. Their services wont be needed for too much longer I wouldn't have thought. Be interesting to see if the squadron badge becomes adopted elsewhere?
  23. or give it a quick blast of Kleer with your air brush.
  24. Like the fully loaded F2 and BMF Starfighters always look great - nice kits.
