  1. Sorry, I thought the Nimrod was a 1969 entrant. Where would you kit a kit from anyway? (yes I know there's a vac form one out there
  2. Seems like the sort of thing that may have been produced for Museums/desk tops?
  3. Great idea Jake. Probably has more use in the larger scales, but very effective
  4. I've been scratching about for time in the evenings lately, but still managing to keep this ticking along. I've had to do quite a lot repairing on this one unlike my Lightning, so progress is a bit slower anyway. The original model, had the RWR top of the tail, which had to come off because I'm modelling an early FGR2. The RWR put up a right old fight, and the result was an uneven break and quite a bit of the top of what was left, was all over the place - very nearly binned it at that point! For effect, I decided to replace the 2 protruding tubes on the leading edge of the tail - cut away the old ones, drilled a couple of holes, and cut a needle up. Strange, I'm only going to cover most of these up anyway with RBF sleeves Ready for pre shading next. More repair work was needed on the store attachment points as a result of removing them. I drilled out a couple of holes and dropped some styrene strips in instead - these will be cut down before I attach the tanks. I also added a couple of narrow strips of Tamiya tape to emphasise the seams on the Sgt Fletchers. Still visible signs of the driling on the hard points themselves, so I need to take care of these.
  5. everyone taking note?....."this is my Canberra from the Suez campaign, the reason there is much filler on the wing is because this a/c was struck by a missile, and I've represented it after a fairly poor repair job"
  6. only after your sourced some of course - u/c not included by the looks of it.
  7. Jet Provost Mk3 & 4(?) Gnat T1 Nimrod Also dont rule out T versions of Lightning, Hunter, Harrier etc.
  8. A glorious career it may be, but the dangers are so high as well. Lets hope he/she doesn't leave children. RIP
  9. The front windscreen on Phantoms, RAF ones I'm referrin to specifically, had a tint. Question is, were they always tinted and I've always used a Blue tint- is this correct?
  10. Jaguar & Tornado - Neomega cockpits + as many Paragon bits as you can afford. For both, bulged wheels, flaps, replacement afterburners are available plus more. The Jag is typical Airfix but can be turned into a real class act with the add ons. Mirage F1 - replacement cockpit, but having said that its a bit like the Lightning. The cockpit is so small, personally Id add some of my own detailing instead.
  11. totally agree - that Luftwaffe scheme was the best worn by any Phantom I think.
  12. Here ya go UKAR I heard that MA will release the page 3 birds, but not sure if Jon Freeman frequents this site yet? He does ARC Anthony, so you could always ask him. Another option, would be to talk your girl friend into getting her kit off, of course in the interest of modelling, and painting these free hand yourself - good luck with that one
  13. I've never used the wadding on clear parts, but remember you wash the kit down wihin minutes of using it. Not trying to convince anyone, but honestly never had any problems using Brasso/Duraglit wadding.
  14. With less than a day to go, I'd be surprised if it got anywhere near that sort of price
  15. Roland - this may or may not help? Link
  16. Fuji's is supposed to be pretty good in that scale. Never built one myself, but they all rave? 767 squadron in loaned RAF aircraft - I can see it now
  17. Are we talking liquid polish here or wadding??? I use Brasso wadding and have done for 20 years plus - never had a problem. A tip passed on to me by Mr Taylor I believe. You must of course wash the plastic after polishing, but this effectively removes all small grade scratches. Try it Pete, you wont be disappointed and it lasts eons!
  18. 102 - not sure if this covers what is in storage, I guess it would. Great informative site attached although information now 3 years old! RAF Info
