That is stunning, brilliantly finished. To me to produce a build of an aircratf in glossy training or display colours is much harder to pull off than an off the line camo job - they have a tendancy to look "toy like" on occassions. The dialectic panel on the spine looks so real - take a big bow because that is one hell of a build and I hope it receives the comments it deserves (even from the clique so called super modellers on BM) in the RFI section.

Easiest/cheapest 1/48 Marineflieger 104 & RNoAF 104 w/Penguins?
Gary West replied to RMP2's topic in Aircraft Cold War
Its amazing how lazy some modellers can be or maybe thats ignorant - example. 2 x 104s on Ebay, one is a G version lets say German Marine and goes for a stonking £35 say the other is a Taiwanese G which either doesnt sell or goes for £20 - and the difference is? Carton & decal sheet..... The other pointer re 104s is the main wheel door which affects you wheels up or down - some variants have a bulged wheel door and some dont, and I cant recall off the top of my head which is which so just be sure to check that. -

This kit really shows its age but what a lovely aircraft she was and youve cracked this one - did someone say we need a new tool in 1/48? -
Really nicely finished and presented that

Anyone have a Hobbyboss 100 series Hawk yet (1/48)?
Gary West replied to Gary West's topic in Aircraft Modern
Red Arrows pod - who brought that up? I know the T1 pod is nothing like the T2 pod Thats the sprue image that I saw Bill and whilst it looks similar its either a) a poor replication or a completely different version hence the question. Having said that, it may be a fairly easy thing to improve with a bit of plastic card here and a bit of re shaping there. In fact Scooby they have 3 seperate 100 series versions excluding the 200 series due at some point still......maybe? -
Ive just been looking at some sprue shots and trying to make out if the centreline baggage/fuel pod is the same as that used by RAF T2's? Its a big ommission from the Airfix kit and not produced to date in 1/48 by the aftermarket chaps, so this could be of interest?

Can someone ID the serial on this FG.1 in 1975?
Gary West replied to roym's topic in Aircraft Cold War
100% XT867- that thin band around the radome and the non standard white backing to the ejector warning triangles help to ID. She was at Ceceil Field in Feb of 75 wearing 013 code which ties up with these dates and images. -
Sukhoi Killer! HobbyBoss 1/48 F-14A VF-41 Blacl Aces
Gary West replied to Habu12's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Thats very nicely done -
I think the answer may be Black again - I just looked at a couple of Images which are in B&W but to me the suits do look Black. That could be backed up by one colour image of a Tiger 104 from the 70s showing the pilot in a Blackk suit. I know they wore a beige throughout the late 70s and 80s.

AFV F-5E Tiger II - Old Agressor
Gary West replied to Gary West's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
and just think, a few miles up the A1 we had Harriers out of Wittering, a little further North again and we have Cottesmore, a few miles down the A14 we had Jetstreams out of Oakington, and even closer we had the Canberra force at Wyton and visitors from Europe on a daily basis - one of many aircraft types and schemes that made military aviation such an interesting hobby in those days. -
AFV F-5E Tiger II - Old Agressor
Gary West replied to Gary West's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Yep I make you right, completely over looked and easily sorted................... -
Further to my recently finished T-33 just added the finishing touches to this one too - AFV's Tiger II One scheme that epitomises the Cold war for me above many others was this known as "old Lizard" and one of several different schemes operated by the 527th TFTAS based at RAF Alconbury. Representing the late 1970s............ Into the ever expanding Cold War cabinet she goes.....................

1/48 - AMD-BA Super Etendard by Kitty Hawk - released
Gary West replied to Homebee's topic in The Rumourmonger
Providing Im allowed to comment and no one wants to see my models by way of authorisation................ KH strike again - shape innacuracies aside, I really dont get why they persist with putting inaccurate contents into kits - Jaguar springs to mind. Surely research solves all of these problems which could suggest that KH dont research! Luckily we have the Kinetic option- 80 replies
