Would that be what you're after: Begemot 72-049? L.E.: or you rather mean the red bort numbers, which I see can be found on Begemot's Su-35 sheet (72-055):

Hi guys, I just bought a sheet of Combat Decals (72-005) including markings for ZA254. I understand it was a 'short' airframe because of the engines used. If I start with the 1/72 Italeri/ Tamiya/ Revell F.3 kit, what exactly would I need to do except leave out the outer Sidewinder rails ? Would I need to cut out a section of the rear fuselage? If so, kind of where from? Any other mods (vertical tail, etc.)? Many thanks for trying to help out a big enthusiast but a poor 'engineer' Cheers, Niki

Academy 1/72nd Scale F-4 J "Showtime 100"
niki replied to raguk's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
It looks neat and you certainly did a thorough job finishing it! Does it replace the Hasegawa kit as long as one already has it in one's stash? Not by a long shot, in my opinion, from what I see. Does it replace the Hasegawa kit as long as one has to choose between buying one or the other? If both kits sit in front of you on a shelf and the Academy is more than 1/3 cheaper, maybe. Anyway, it's great to have a choice! -
Hasegawa caters for the MLU-type bird slicers via sprue 'L' found in their F-16AM/BM & F-16E/F/I kits. That will most likely be included this new box - I hope...

Thanks, Mike! Didn't know about Hobbylinc and there are indeed good prices. They aren't very user friendly as regards international orders (although they explain their terms quite clearly), for they don't show postage information up front and they don't accept PayPal. But that's just me nitpicking... Thanks again! Three go to places we now have. Cheers, Niki

Thank you, Jessica and Steve! Omnimodels, indeed, I found out to be the best deal on ebay, although they still come into the category "from across the Atlantic". Anyway, lacking an European alternative (as Jessica pointed out, no DC-8 at Hannants) Omnimodels and Advantage Hobby are probably the places to go in N. America if one cannot live without his/ her Minicraft jets/ props Niki

Hi everyone, I was looking at Minicraft's DC-8-63, C-130J and KC-135R and from what I could see they are only truly available from the other side of the Atlantic. Is there really no steady source left for these kits in Europe? Prior to this post I wrote a message to Creative Models and they very kindly and promptly replied that they no longer import Minicraft kits... Any thoughts would be appreciated. Cheers, Niki

Ok, decals arrived in record time. The good [not so] old colonel is a man of his word. The set is made up by two laser printed sheets: the stencils (at the bottom in the below picture) are printed on a clear decal sheet, while the actual special scheme design elements are printed on a white decal sheet. There are painting instructions as well as instructions on how to handle the decals (pretty straightforward, actually, from what I can read - although there are all those complicated tail surfaces... ). Additionally, right next to the decal instructions there was also a double side printed little sheet of [semi] gloss paper containing blue Remove Before Flight tags, as they appear on the Zeus machine when at rest. Large image: https://farm1.staticflickr.com/533/20437711986_bd455d5063_o.jpg If I had the talent and knowledge, i would have made the tail motifs a tad brighter as they appear a bit darker when compared to pictures of the real deal. But anyway, I am very happy someone managed to bring this scheme out in decal form, as I was more than afraid that this year's revised Zeus would steal the show and make this former version redundant - at least with any decal manufacturer. I cannot understand why the Greek Air Force felt the need to switch to an ugl... another scheme!? "Zeus II" is The Best! Many thanks, Scotty, for the hook up! Cheers, Niki

Just a heads up: After using the above linked contact form, I have received a reply from Col. (ret.) Tripolitakis with payment details and so forth. Really looking forward to this one!

Oh, last year's scheme would be so much nicer!...

Hi Charlie, I was referring to this Revell (04627) box containing the Hasegawa kit: Me knows how to ask me questions, eh?
-
Not a big connoisseur either (I know nothing about many things ) but I would suppose that the original F-15S looked hardly different than an F-15E. No equipment atop of the port fin though, so just another thin streak: The Hasegawa (or Revell re-box) F-15E should be ok. As far as I can see there are some differences regarding the plastic parts portraying the CFTs in the different Hasegawa boxes, so check it out. No idea if the form differs or if they only finessed the parts and pylons. Here is a bit of extra discussion about the Saudi Strike Eagles: http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=260254 ...and for aircraft following upgrades and new F-15SA maybe you could make good use of these kits here: http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=270084 The TwoBobs decals are the only ones I could come up with also Hopefully some more knowledgeable advice is available here somewhere. Cheers, Niki

Looks like the nicest 727 I've ever seen in scale (no, I'm not exaggerating - that's just me ). Maybe you could share a couple more pics. Cheers, Niki

I have just copied the decal onto a piece of baking paper, cut out the outline and tried placing it on the Revell and Zvezda kits. I believe it can be handled in such a way that one will not miss anything dimensionally at the upper end of the motif. Worst case scenario will see, I think, based on my rudimentary play and this picture, about one millimeter missing at the root of the fern (resulting from the right positioning of the tip of the fern) and possibly the need to trim a bit of the first leaf from the root towards the lower center line of the airplane. Regarding the motif itself, looked at directly from the side, the third leaf from the tip of the fern and towards the tail of the aircraft should look kind of skinny once the decal is applied since on the real aircraft it is some twice the size (er..., bigger anyway) of its neighboring leaves, to cater for the curvature of the fuselage and keep an even appearance when looked at from the side... Note: I am very excited about this decal sheet, so perhaps I am seeing the glass half full here. Maybe somebody else can check also and provide feedback. The producers also promised on Airlinercafe to have a model ready using their own merchandise, so we should definitely see how it stands soon enough.

My word. Anyway, without knowing, the manufacturer actually did me (and maybe others) a favor this time

You must be some kind of mind reader... Definitely!... Really, thank you for trying to help with the font issue, as I was just about to see how Kufi worked. Nastaʿlīq does indeed look the part. There is meanwhile a bit of hope at the end of proceedings regarding a custom decal. Many thanks, again, Skippie! Cheers, Niki

Decal has arrived and besides being nice it's... huge! Nearly an A4 big sheet That was to be expected I suppose, but then again life has taught me to keep my expectations low... Hope it sells well and we get additional subjects from this outfit.

I have just noticed that some kits have made it to the E.U. and are available from TOM Modellbau in Germany, either directly in their on-line shop or through ebay. Cheers, Niki

Jelle (one of the guys at Attached Before Flight) built an ANZ A320 using the Oldmodels decals. It turned out very pretty but, as I remember, he said the decals put up a fight which might have led the guy to try and improve the experience for anyone else wishing to add this scheme to their shelves. ... Here it is: Revell + Oldmoldels Decals

Thanks Skippie for all these details and the extra research work! Yes, I have had that with one sheet that someone was kind enough to design and print for me. It was sorted out in the end though.

Thanks, Mike! Indeed, there is evidence of the 732 carrying it also: http://www.airliners.net/photo/Iran-Air/Boeing-737-286-Adv/1958657/L/&sid=355a65014a250011cb9cad1b612fcc6c Too bad the 26decals don't match precisely in the "Iran Air" logo I'm after and only depict the earlier, simple type, without the "Airline of the..." portion Thanks again! Cheers, Niki

Skippie, Thank you! But 'basic research' doesn't work here. All your links work only for the new(er) scheme and not the old(er) one I was referring to: http://cdn-www.airliners.net/aviation-photos/photos/3/0/9/1661903.jpg L.E.: I came a bit nearer to the close-up picture issue http://cdn-www.airliners.net/aviation-photos/photos/5/3/6/0066635.jpg
