A bit late, but the product finally made it onto Revell's homepage: http://www.revell.de/en/products/model-building/aircraft/civilian-aircraft/id/04884.html The instructions are already available for viewing/ download and there's also a short video showing still frames of the completed model AND a pic of the sprues! Bit artistic and of no real analytic value, but... just push the "Play" button on the link given above. Cheers, Niki L.E.: ok, ok! There is some analytic value in there after all We are being supplied with a cockpit and winglets are already blended into the wings which saves for some fiddly gluing. I'm happy

Arghhhh... Well done, Antoine and Laurent! You have just increased Kinetic's sales by at least one box... Thank you [NOT!], Niki [having previously sworn not to let himself tempted by all this new 1/48 SuE stuff and ultimately failed miserably...]

niki replied to Homebee's topic in The Rumourmonger
A million thanks for the heads up on this! I've been wanting one for many years, ever since I first saw the Prop&Jet resin kit (and I am scared of resin kits ). I'll be looking to get one for sure -
These are the sort of dioramas I like most. Your entire scratch work is very much appreciated on this side of the keyboard Cheers, Niki

The nose still has that bulge at the bottom-front, I believe seeing in the above photo, especially at the left hand example...

1/144 Azerbaijan Airlines decals for the 787 and A319/320
niki replied to niki's topic in Modern - 1969 and onwards
The instructions say that Revell 350 looks like a good match for the Azerbaijan blue. *** Yes, I was thinking about getting the Vintage Flyer Decals and cut up some Tamiya tape and mask the tail logo. Indian carriers? I approve! African airlines are also subjects that I would like to see [more] decals for. There are at least a few pretty schemes.- 2 replies

Hi there, After the Air New Zealand A320 decals, Attach Before Flight has released another two decal sheets, this time for Azerbaijan Airlines: These two, just like the ANZ sheet are printed by BOA in the Czech Republic. I have bought the A320 sheet because some of these jets had/ have a bit of extra colour, carrying titles for the 1st European Games held in Azerbaijan's capital Baku in 2015. Maybe I'll go for a double build: Azerbaijan A320 and Indian Airlines A320... Cheers, Niki

Many thanks for the In-Progress, Tony! The orange trim around the nose came out pretty sharp and I shall shamelessly copy your way of doing it Really looking forward to see this one finished! Cheers, Niki

Jonathan, Steven, Thank you both very, very much for your help! I was secretly hoping for some figures so as to have a solid starting point and you guys delivered those and then some! Most interesting the comments on the MLG bay too. And, Jonathan, the unwritten question has been indeed if there was any other [prospective] operator. No question about it: you are a mentalist! Steven, I was initially set on the Revell kit but now I would rather have a flaps down aircraft taxiing for departure. and the most easiest way to achieve this would be to use the Zvezda kit. I will dig them all out of the stash (Revell and Zvezda A320, Revell A330 and Minicraft 757), compare, measure, "proportionate" and see from there what the best mix is. I will also try and see if I can find a good picture or two of the MLG. Once more a big thanks, guys! Cheers, Niki

Hi everyone, One of my earliest civil aviation memories refers to the A320 with the 'non-standard' landing gear flown by Indian Airlines: http://www.crashdehabsheim.net/autre%20crash%20indian%20airlines.htm Has anyone of you build a model of this? Is there perhaps another 1/144 kit you reckon I could borrow the main landing gear from so that it makes some sense proportionally if not outright perfectly dimensional. Perhaps from a 757 or would even that be too big? I have just saw the Vintage Flyer Decals sheet(s) for the Indian Airlines 737-200 and remembered the atypical A320... Cheers, NIki

I am always getting aggravated when I look at the RV kit's overly big windscreen frames and funny intake ring. You, however, brought the best out of it and then some more! Great scheme and great painting skills! Cheers, Niki

No, I believe people are just considering possible future releases by Zvezda based [pretty much] on the fact that the wing tips are stand alone items in the 9.13 kit. Wingtips of 9.13 are a tiny bit different than on the 9.12, 9.51 and maybe other marks. If anything, this image suggests a future SMT (see the folder list to the left of the screen): http://cs625619.vk.me/v625619515/408cf/SMNnAUYPug8.jpg

Would any of you gentlemen, please, have a look and check if Trumpeter possibly amended the clear part also? I mean, since they went the trouble of changing the upper fuselage maybe they thought about smoothing out the canopy shape!?...

Hi Willy, Many thanks for sharing this! I have a couple in the stash and slowly but steady must concede to the fact that those panel lines will need some toning down, otherwise the decals will either bridge the gap(s) and silver or snuggle nicely into the trenches and become deformed when looked at. Don't exile this little gem to the loft but stick a couple of Python 3 missiles under the wings and let it sit for a time at the front of the display cabinet Ans thanks for the heads up on the decal quality - I was thinking about getting the same special edition box but shall now look for aftermarket Brazilian decals. Cheers, Niki

1/72 Revell Tornado "I'm with stupid"
niki replied to Alan Sannazzaro's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
I remember some official(s) not liking this at all back then, but I really had a laugh when I first saw the photos and appreciated the tongue-in-cheek attitude of the crew. You did a great job all round! Cheers, Niki -
In the meantime I have managed to answer my own questions... sort of. While the FACh is an organisation with a sizable PR footprint [watch here about eight minutes of it], it can be pretty secretive about it's fighting capabilities (e.g. at least for a good portion of time, delivery information of Rafael A2A missiles could be sourced from anywhere else - UN reports, manufacturer - but the user itself). This should explain the relative lack of photo evidence. Anyway, much of the above I have learned while coming across and going through this forum (Razon y Fuerza) topic about the Chilean F-5: http://razonyfuerza.mforos.com/549912/9782475-f-5e-tigre-no-estaba-muerto-andaba-de-parranda/ Not much of a Spanish speaker myself, but with the Translate internet-function and a bit of Latin background it pretty much adds up

Hi guys, Sorry for crashing your party (couldn't muster the will to join this GB, although I love the F-5 and am secretly watching things unfold here)! One of my long term plans is to build a Chilean single-seater. I do mainly 1/72 but that AFV kit seems absolutely stunning, so scale is still out for debate for me... I thought of asking my question here instead of the regular jet forum section and here it is: did the Chilean F-5 ever flew with the Python III or did it transition directly from the Sidewinder to the Python IV, following the Israeli upgrades? I remember to have seen single-seaters flying from the continent towards Easter Island carrying four Python IV missiles. Can it be that at one point in their service life they could have been seen carrying two Python III and two Python IV? Many thanks! Niki P.S.: lovely job you guys did with this GB!

Yes, I am also quite curios what that 'New Tooling' is suppose to mean. Would they indeed abandon the investment made only some years ago in a quite detailed kit, just because some of us said the nose of the aircraft was off?! Or perhaps (as the MCP bit might suggest and a parallel I am drawing here to their F-4) the new motto at Academy is 'easy build' and the 'old' (K)F-16 doesn't fit the bill...? We shall see, I guess

Ladies and gentlemen, things have just gotten serious! 1/144 ROCAST Airliner Series - Houchin C690 GPU 1/144 ROCAST Airliner Series - Goldhofer AST-1 http://www.rocascalemotorcycles.com/store/airlinerseries144eng.htm Momentarily there are only the GPU and the tow truck available in 1/144, with the 1/200 section being slightly richer. Owner says he will try and expand the range in 1/144 also. Here's hoping! ...now going to write a letter to the Easter Bunny for it's a tad late to ask Santa for anything [more]

That's a pity, then... Thanks for the insight, Andrey!
