  1. Someone on a German forum suggested a couple of years ago that the intake issue on the RV Fishbeds could be addressed in a simpler way, by omitting the separate intake ring (which, apparently, adds to the actual, proper overall length anyway) altogether. You would thus end up with a much bigger/ wider opening in the nose, which you would just have to tidy up a bit. The definitive joy killer for me in the R.V. MiG-21 boxes is the front part of the canopy with its totally disproportionate frames. Perhaps they could be sanded down, masked fresh and painted for a better look...!? Cheers, Niki
  2. Stretch, Try "Mriya" as a search subject and you will get a couple of topics. Among them, a started WIP by one of our colleagues here: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234972007-1144-antonov-an-225-mriya-conversion/ Maybe you can get in touch and get some insight as to the cutting/ extension lines. Another build is sparsely documented in the next link, but one can see where some incisions occured: http://en.zabmodels.mybb.ru/viewtopic.php?id=19 Man, recently I was thinking about doing a conversion myself, but even only after this tiny bit of research I believe such a feat is out of my reach... Cheers, Niki
  3. No need to apologize! When using decals, windows should be filled in first. Jessica shows us nicely how it's done here: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234908622-embraer-e195/?p=2478034 Cheers, Niki
  4. Beautiful and detailed work, Ivan! Will keep in mind the Mr. Surfacer treatment. Cheers, Niki
  5. I wish I knew! I even played on a few hunches but came up empty handed. Until someone checks in with the correct answer, here are a couple of slightly bigger pictures of that crest (still blurry, though): https://www.flickr.com/photos/142778914@N04/26858332085/sizes/o/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/97303829@N02/10349308274/sizes/o/ Cheers, Niki
  6. Arghhh, that canopy frame again as a separate piece... Looks like they tweaked it, adding a weapons bay, modifying the vertical stabilizers, simplifying the nose assembly (?) and some other stuff. I sold my earlier release a couple of years ago. I'll have to see for how much this new one goes for. Thanks for posting, HB!
  7. A glimpse at the resin stuff one can get beneath the tails of the fuselage halves in the plastic bag and the metal cannon lies beside the canopy: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10396196/10/0
  8. Hey Tim, Many thanks for stepping in! Yes, it was your build that I saw but couldn't remember for the life of me where... It was right here under my nose From your pictures it seems as the base colour shows a bit through the white decal, but I will take your word for it and try to get that Nazca sheet after all. And many thanks for the heads up on the skyline issue! I'll have a look if Ascensio has captured this detail correctly. Once again, Niki
  9. Thanks for the insight, Ray! Man, that would be one heck of a surgery... Thanks! I haven't bought the sheet yet so, you're right, I could send an e-mail to ascensio@list.ru Ed, it might be just a coincidence [and associated misunderstanding]: seems like the guy behind Ascensio is also called Alexander. Nothing to do with the store selling Brasil/ Gio Decals. Cheers everyone, Niki
  10. Hi everyone, I'm thinking about getting a Revell 747-8F kit and dress it up as the Hong Kong Trader. There are a couple of decals available: a Gio sheet [well, not really available...], the Nazca offering [of which I think to have seen a finished model with the "HK Trader" titles unfortunately not totally covering the paint underneath] and the Ascensio sheet. http://www.findmodelkit.com/content/boeing-747-8f-cathay-pacific-cargo Besides being readily available, the Ascensio sheet is also quite affordable compared to the other two [25 GBP for the last Gio sheet seen on ebay and 20 EUR for the Nazca product on its homepage]. BUT how about those "Hong Kong Trader" titles? They are printed on white decal paper. How does this work on the model at all? How would one need to trim the letters before applying them? Or should one apply the whole white rectangle with letters and then touch up with the underlying paint? Any experience with similar items or even this one? Cheers, Niki
  11. Here it is via ebay.co.uk: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252473661692?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  12. I have for some time now played with the idea of doing a Helios 737 myself using the BOA sheet. Great to see a nice and clean finished example! And thank you for the heads up on the tail decal. Keep them coming (I say to you )! Cheers, Niki
  13. Were it not for the Kinetic 1/48 model, even considering the limited space available at home, I would have gotten me one of these
  14. Hi guys, I just went through the rules section and understand I would be allowed to enter an airliner in a what-if livery (more precisely a passenger carrier in the colours of an existing airline that never flew the type). In addition, would I still be allowed to execute a small airframe/ aerodynamic "improvement" on the kit? Like increasing a wing angle or extend a flying surface (nothing sci-fi or anything; just a bit to "theoretically" improve the "flying qualities" of the plane). Truth be told this question came along when considering marking options and realising that the tail might not be broad enough to accommodate the decals I have available... Thanks for your feedback! Niki
  15. Alright! The IIIS/RS is now showing as Pre-Order at Luckymodel: Kinetic 48058
  16. This exact machine stopped by my "office" in the not too distant past, so I will drop the 1/48 project (lack of decals) and just go ahead with this instead. Many thanks for posting!
  17. Ian, That's a splendid looking little thing! Moving the window line up is in my book going above and beyond the call of duty, so For those looking for the Polish Decal Team ladder, you can still grab them at Martola, in Poland. They're good guys! Cheers, Niki
  18. Drew, Let me just say: Then let me add: have fun with your project. Here, apparently, the areas where you need to execute the cuts - I don't vouch for the 10.5 mm ahead of the wing, this is just to back up the general arrangement. http://www.findmodelkit.com/sites/default/files/a4-143.jpg Cheers, Niki
  19. Hi Saddler, Most likely it is my complete lack of knowledge on the subject coupled with my tired eyes, but after looking at some underside shots of Australian Hawks: can it be that they carry no markings under the wings? Here are pictures of every Australian machine (click on each thumbnail to go to a gallery of several pictures of that particular plane): http://www.adf-serials.com.au/3a27.htm If my assumption is correct, maybe ZJ632 while still in the UK had nothing to show under the wings either...(?). Anyway, hopefully someone can confirm how things looked back then. Cheers, Niki
  20. Times They Are A-Changin'... I've just been last night to the Austrian Railway site, only to discover that they went from their user friendly [if you ask me] layout to one adapted [apparently] for mobile devices. Can I still buy a ticket from my laptop? I probably can, but what used to be neatly available in one single window with drop-downs, buttons, name tags, etc. is now distributed across several frames and lacking overview. Yes, it works but it's not an improved experience - quite the opposite actually. '1-0' for the smart phone/ tablet community... *** And how annoying: one used to get all those airliners.net results in internet image search... you still get them but, I imagine due to the changes, those links are dead
  21. Thanks, Tom and Hacker for the insights
  22. Any news on the Mirage IIIS front? I know it said June and June has just passed... Impatient bloke here
  23. So ugly it's beautiful Seriously, though, I very much like how it looks "in the box" and will seek to get at least one when released. The link posted by Flogger gives SH quoting "end of this Year or early next Year".
