  1. Now, that would be something: Revell squeezing them in every box of the 319 and 320 and Zvezda omitting them altogether on the 321...
  2. Hi Richard, That would then be Hasegawa 01949 1/72 F-16AM/BM Fighting Falcon 'Royal Norwegian Air Force Tiger Meet 2010'. It seems to have that extended fin base fairing [sprue Z]: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10144518z4/70/4 You can still have one at Hannants: http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/HA01949 Cheers, Niki
  3. Ok, ok. But these will REALLY be the last kits I buy! **** Seriously, I have been hoping for a 'final' chance at some good looking PFs, PFMs and especially MFs in 1/72
  4. There you go! Looking forward to seeing it finished! Cheers, Niki
  5. Merry Christmas, everyone! I was just looking around the web for possible candidates to fill in the GA parking stands on my prospective airfield apron. The A320s and 737s were catered for, but what about some Cessna & Co. in 1/144?... I came across a couple of online shops offering 3D-printing services which already have a good portion of aircraft, vehicles and airfield equipment in their portfolio: http://www.shapeways.com/search?q=1%2F144&s=0#more-products There are many items ranging from helicopters to WWI fighters, from Etendards to AMXs, from Tucanos to Lynxes, from firetrucks to access steps/ ladders and dinosaurs (it takes a bit to go through the couple of thousands of lines) and I am not commenting on the prices, but should you "require" a certain subject - like me with the Citation Excel and, say, some Skyhawk - then it might be worth a look. *** The other shop is click2detail: https://www.click2detail.com/store/c27/1%3A144.html Here, the product range might be a bit smaller in 1/144, but very much worth a look given the aircraft subjects aaaaaaaaand ... ...the 1/72 Global Express and 1/72 Sentinel R.1 [incl. markings by DRAW Decal] kits Apologies if this has been posted before. I did a quick search upfront but found nothing
  6. I was 0.6 seconds away last evening from clicking the Buy Now button on a EE 733... Thanks for the heads-up!
  7. I have had issues like that in the past but thought they were strictly related to the overuse of molds (Fw-190s and F-16s in my case). If this thing happens to a new release then it would seem that Revell is cutting some corners while going for a good price... Please post a picture of your canopy, if possible.
  8. Thanks, Andy! Sounds indeed a bit too off [even] for my taste...
  9. Please, everyone, forgive the apparent off topic, but can somebody perhaps point it out here or direct me towards an already done comparative review where one can see what specifically Trumpeter has messed up? I am considering a jet line-up in Romanian AF service and was just the other day counting what my stash already contains and what is still needed vs. what is available on the market. I'd like to know if waiting for a prospective F-13 Eduard release is [quite] necessary Cheers, Niki
  10. My first thought on seeing the pics was: what a great paint job! And I mean the way you managed to lay down the paint Of course, try to reapply the decals but from what I see I guarantee you are more than able to paint everything on that plane including highlighting the flag on the tail - just 'copy' what you see on the decal. The highlighting would be just some carefully applied white & dark (black?) paint with the airbrush. Cheers, Niki .
  11. I wonder if the J-20 Mighty Dragon Prototype is a re-box or a new tool, as is actually the new JH-7A. Did Trumpeter ever resort to re-boxing?
  12. Thanks Giorgio! I figured the direct link between I-RAIB and N339L. Just found it curios that no on-line reference is to be found. I have this talent of picking weird subjects to document. Keeps me busy searching for information instead of actually building something
  13. Well, I guess we now only need a proper radome to wrap that up A future boxing hopefully!...
  14. Many thanks for the input! That brochure from ebay is a great find Well, I told you about my failing memory I went late yesterday evening through my archive and found that said Flug Revue issue. It isn't however from early 1992 but from 1993 - March 1993/ No.3 to be precise. Here is the FanRanger JPATS competition as imagined at that time: Check out Aermacchi's registration: I-RAIB Haven't found anything online on that lead... Further Internet investigative efforts today yielded however the (re-)discovery of the Flightglobal archive where if you should go and search for - say - 'JPATS', following stuff comes up: http://www.flightglobal.com/pdfarchive/search.aspx?ArchiveSearchForm%24search=JPATS&ArchiveSearchForm%24fromYear=&ArchiveSearchForm%24toYear=&x=49&y=10 There are some nice articles including 'Aiming For America' (part 1 & part 2 from 1991) and 'Going With T-Bird II' (part 1 & part 2 from 1993). Couple of pics and lots of nostalgia for us 'old men' Cheers, Niki
  15. Thank you, Georgio! Even after searching by registration I couldn't find any better pictures of the jet as it would carry all the logos and the grey scheme. Hence my call for help here. To be honest I was also thinking of some press of that era. I remember reading an early 1992 Flug Revue... (well, in 1992 ) about the Fan Ranger but putting it in the context of JPATS. There might have been a black and white picture of the T-Bird also but here the memories end Would be great if something came up. Thanks again! P.S.: I was hoping that all the logos would have been found on the white/ red livery at a certain point in time. Would have looked kinda fancy
  16. Hi guys, Please bear with me as I'm having a bit of a moment here : I did dig out of the stash a Supermodel MB-339A. The very nice decal sheet offers amongst other choices also the option of decorating the little Aermacchi as the T-Bird II of JPATS 'fame'. Now, for the love of... [your choice here ], I have searched as per my very poor Internet skills for an actual picture of the aircraft carrying the Aermacchi, "T-Bird II" and Rolls-Royce logos (and that blue-white star) but ended up only with this: http://cargolade.free.fr/mb339a.htm Any chance one of you could help me with some better pics? Do you know if this is how the aircraft was demonstrated in the U.S. or was this scheme applied afterwards? I plan to re-scribe the panel lines of the kit and am still considering whether to invest in the Pavla cockpit set or not. Many thanks, Niki
  17. Hi, You are perhaps in a position where you have already painted the model to match the proposed decal option, right? Then your best bet is to try and swap/ buy the same sheet from somebody who considers finishing their Zlin in a different scheme and hence not needing the kit's decals. Make sure to use some Decal Film prior to giving it a second go. There is the bit older Aeroteam Zlin 142C kit which contains some four marking options including the same one as featured in the Hobbyboss kit: http://makettinfo.hu/index.php?jobb=makett/repulo/zlin-142/index.htm&&q=&hash= Perhaps someone calls this kit its own and can part with that decal option... Otherwise, stand alone decals for this subject are rather scarce but these guys (a Slovak modeling club as far as I can tell) do some for 2,50EUR a set (scroll down): http://www.kpmpresov.sk/decals/kpmd.htm Cheers, Niki
  18. Nice to see it coming along alright! Will you be selling this exclusively through your own site or will there be some re-sellers in the E.U. also? Also, would it be too indiscreetly to already ask for a prospective selling price?
  19. The Aoshima Airwolf is precisely that: as the helicopter appeared in the TV series with all its lumps and bumps. It is finely detailed but has itself a slight drawback - in my opinion - with a nose contour a bit too pointy. The Kitech Airwolf (because that is the only other one I own) cannot stand any comparison in terms of plastic injection and detailing quality with the Aoshima offering. It is however in fact a Bell 222 which you can build as such or add the extra bits found in the box and turn it into the Airwolf. I got both kits from ebay some two years back. The Kitech one did cost some 10GBP and came with free shipping out of Korea. The Aoshima Airwolf gets re-released every couple of years and from usual quotes of 70-90GBP, I obtained one shortly after such a re-release (in 2012) for under 30GBP plus shipping from a Japanese ebay shop (tokyo-hobby). So, depending on what exactly it is you're after (Bell 222 or strictly Airwolf) and in how much of a hurry you are these would be your options (AMT/ERTL/ Kitech or Aoshima, respectively). Cheers, Niki
  20. You could go for a 'declared' aluminum paint job which eliminates the need to come up with different shades of panels and buffing them or figure an 'arctic' mission for the... thing and paint it red/ orange. Have fun! Niki
  21. Mr. Johnson was clearly mistaken! Generic decals, I don't know but if you type "Argentina" in the Hannants search box you get a couple of results from which you could adapt roundels, FAA lettering, serials. The Aztec sheet on the Falklands is pretty comprehensive but there are also other single type sheets that could work for you. Let us know how it turned out. Cheers, Niki
  22. Well, strictly historical it seems that transport aircraft of that era were bare metal [with a white top fuselage]. You could add a black anti-glare patch in front of the cockpit or go directly for a bit of colour as here: http://www.aviationcorner.net/show_photo_en.asp?id=86152 http://www.myaviation.net/search/photo_search.php?id=02036438&size=large http://www1.airliners.net/photo/Argentina---Air/De-Havilland-Canada/2227444/L And a legitimate question about the wings, but I couldn't offer any scientific-backed answer here. You know: if it looks right, it will fly right... BTW, that is one ugly piece of flying machinery Cheers, Niki
  23. It might help if you could tell us exactly what it is you're after. Because if it's about 737s for example, then it just might be possible for us to recommend you a nice UK retailer who has got some for sale at a very competitive price. I'm just saying...
  24. I don't know how far into research you have come, but here's a list of [apparently] all aircraft that have ever flown with the Argentine Armed Forces. It mentions the time frame they have served, so you could go from there: http://www.gacetaeronautica.com/gaceta/wp-101/?p=5991 Further, there is a site called as much as Aviation Archaeology (arqueologia aeronautica) which seems to look at precisely that kind of stuff you're interested in. Get in touch with them (they're Argentinians after all) and see what you can find out additionally. Here's for example an entry about the Bristol Freighter on that site: http://arqueologiaaeronautica.blogspot.ro/search/label/BRISTOL%20170%20Freighter%20Mk%20I%20A%20%E2%80%93%20%20TC-330 Cheers, Niki
