Hi everyone, I was looking around the web for Fokker 100 pictures when I came across this: http://www.aviastar.org/air/holland/fokker_100.php http://www.abpic.co.uk/photo/1369132/ Does anyone know if Iran Air Fokkers soldiered on for any amount of time in this livery or was it right about then when livery got changed that these aircraft came into service and they received directly the all-white coat? Was/ is there any decal sheet of this livery in 1/144 (most likely not for the Fokker, but perhaps for the Boeing 727)? If not, does anybody know of a close-up picture showing the fuselage logos? I know that up front it says "Iran Air, The Airline of the Islamic Republic of Iran" but I couldn't find any picture where one can clearly see the fonts used - not that I could visually identify fonts or anything , but at least to have a clear view of the letters there... Thank you! Cheers, Niki

Hi everyone, "Attach Before Flight" from the Netherlands just brought out a new screen printed decal for Air New Zealand's A320 in 1/144th scale. http://www.usatoday.com/story/todayinthesky/2014/02/27/air-new-zealand-bullish-on-future-after-record-profit/5857981/ I found out about it on ARC. That's where you also get to see appropriate details on the product. Cheers, Niki L.E.: now I see it's being discussed over at Airlinercafe also...

Can anybody make out if they downsized the cabin widows? Anyway, nice box art so (although I promised myself to skip this one) I'm in for one example

It seems there are some instances when they can be encountered even on scimitar-equipped machines: http://www.airplane-pictures.net/photo/1302/mm62166-italy-guardia-di-finanza-atr-42-400mp-surveyor/ But I have no idea about engine/ propeller-type combinations on these airplanes...

So, I unpacked my two examples an hour or so ago. They came for 18 Euros apiece (plus some 1,50 Euros P&P each, if I were to divide the 6 Euros I paid to have four kits delivered from Hobbyland in Bulgaria). I am still happy with the purchase and remain rather optimistic as to how the plastic will go together. Here are some nice touches I [think I] found in the box: - nice reproduction of the tail cone detail that will even be covered, just like on the real thing, by a bubble piece to be found on the clear sprue - tiny drilled-out exhaust pipes :thumbsup2: - lovely decal sheet by Cartograf with aluminum details, etc. Man, all those details are sooooo small, one has got to see them for himself/ herself to really appreciate the proportions...

New 1/72 AS365 Dolphin/Dauphin from "DreamModel"

The landing gear is on the B-sprue alright. L.E.: now listed at Hannants -
The nicest result out of a HB F-16 that I can think of right now to have ever graced the Internet

The Italeri kit has been priced at various retailers outside the UK at about the same value as the F-rsin kit (i.e. 18,00 - 20,00EUR). Of course, there's the shipping cost to be added, but that would also be the case with buying any other kit from anywhere else. To add to the mix of feelings here , I sold my F-rsin kit a couple of days ago and will get a couple of Italeri ATR. It was my personal view alone that I could never build a better replica out of the F-rsin kit than I would out of the Italeri box (I refer here to the plastic itself [which seemed somewhat brittle in the F-rsin box] and to a couple of important details [props, landing gear] better produced in my opinion by Italeri; perhaps the [not so] clear parts did it too!?... I prefer plastic to decals). We'll see how that goes. Cheers, Niki

Uganda Airlines Boeing 707 - what is that under the wing(s)?
niki replied to niki's topic in Classic - up to 1968
Lovely! To both, thank you very much for the input and thank you, Tom, for the additional pictures! I think scratch-building such a thing wouldn't be impossible and it would certainly be a conversation piece Thanks again! Cheers, Niki -
...that next to the engines, that is! Hi chaps, I was just browsing through Pointerdog7's decal list and from doing a bit of on-line research I got to discover this picture: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Uganda_Airlines_Boeing_707_Groves-1.jpg Can anyone please tell me what that pod hanging near the wing to fuselage join is? Was there another example hanging on the opposite side? Any detail pictures of it anywhere? I was pondering about what livery to use on my first 707 and this looks kind of interesting. I also noticed that there were at least two slightly different liveries worn by Uganda Airlines 707s: the one pictured above and this: Is the livery as shown by the Pointerdog decals the second (final) one? Any idea what year the font and tail design got changed? Thank you! Cheers, Niki

Exactly what is written on top of the decal sheet itself: "AMX / AMX-T / A-1A / A-1B" (!)

Hopefully not that far away, with the IIIC boxart apparently settled upon I am really curious to see how the plastic inside will compare against what one can find in their MiG-21 boxes!?...

Metallic I would say it's not, by the look (and role) of it. Anyway, in that picture one can see how the sealant on the windscreen's side elements is painted over while the one on the canopy extends very much forward covering the entire front frame of the canopy's moving part. By contrast, on other birds all sealant is painted over. So, in the end I guess it's down to the old adage of checking one's own references about a particular subject, in this case which plane you'll eventually build By the way, a friend of mine has build up a considerable photographic archive on [nearly?] each LanceR, so once you have made up your mind you can PM me the bort number and an e-mail address of yours and I can send you a series of images, all open sourced but which wouldn't perhaps come up immediately on a casual www-search. Cheers, Niki

1/144 Southwest 737 decals: current scheme?
niki replied to GMK's topic in Modern - 1969 and onwards
Fundekals is apparently having a go at it: http://www.airlinercafe.com/forums.php?m=posts&q=9313&n=last#bottom -
No, I would say that never happened operationally (but would be the happiest boy around being proven wrong ). A small static display diorama may be the opportunity to hang different stuff under each wing. Cheers, Niki

I'd say it's some kind of sealant like that found for example on the MiG-29 canopy...(?) http://www.ipmsstockholm.se/home/mikoyan-gurevich-mig-29a-fulcrum-in-detail/ It appears indeed to be [fully or partially] painted over on some LanceR aircraft.

Standing QRA they only fly with one type of missile at a time. So, it's either two Magics, two Pythons or two Archers. I understand they tread very carefully with balance related issues and even when on a training flight they always carry a training round (fitted with all the electronics but devoid of propellant and explosive charge - right wing here) and a dummy missile (devoid of... anything, just dead weight - left wing below): http://www.resboiu.ro/martea-tehnica-r-73aa-11-archer/ You can bet that 5724 has flown at one particular time or another with any A2A missile from the inventory, so it's just a case of making up your mind http://elhangardetj.blogspot.ro/2008/10/mig-21-rumanos.html http://www.resboiu.ro/mig-21-lancer-5724-peste-borcea/ http://www.mapn.ro/fotodb/20050923 Cheers, Niki P.S.: btw, Romanian 'live' Pythons are grey, without any stripes, while Archers and Magics look the same as they do back home (i.e. FRA and RUS, respectively).

Yeah, I do try several times a day to convince myself of the same thing You've asked a bit further up about colours - I don't know if over the years they stuck with the same paints as originally applied, but given the variety of tones that appear in photographs I guess we're on our own here to go and mix whatever we think matches what we see I'll keep looking about specific information and will check back in if there's anything new on this front. Cheers, Niki

Paragon did produce also a set in 72nd scale: Paragon Designs 1:72 2 x Python 3 Missiles #72067 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Paragon-Designs-1-72-2-x-Python-3-Missiles-72067-/141537765345 (don't know what's with the price at the link above, but at least you know that it once was and you can keep checking the adds) In lack of another immediately available option, I'd personally go for a 1/72 Trumpeter J-8 kit. It does have four of the missiles and you can always build it with other missiles hanging from under its wings.

For a MiG coming from the 86th, they fly mostly with Pyhton III or R-73. The Magic you can find most of the time hung under the jets of the 71st AB. Of course, now that the LanceR A is out of service, an A2G load would do the trick as well, but for a dedicated [initially, at least] air defender... http://www.rumaniamilitary.ro/durata-de-viata-a-munitilor-si-rachetelor-din-dotarea-armatei-romane http://www.rumaniamilitary.ro/mig-21-lancer-trageri-reale#prettyPhoto http://www.resboiu.ro/trageri-reale-la-flotila-86/ http://www.resboiu.ro/mig-21-lancer-5724-peste-borcea/ http://tropasearmas.xpg.uol.com.br/mig-21-lancer-bulgaria-missil.jpg
