  1. I would rub down the model ( bare plastic) with isopropyl alcohol to remove any grease etc. not soap and water. the only time I used soap and water to clean the model, tape pulled off not only the paint but also the primer. Gunze and Tamiya make good primers. Never had a problem with Gunze Levelling thinner. George
  2. I can't understand why so many have trouble with Tamiya decals. They do need to be released using HOT water. Place on model using water, once in place used either Tamiya Mark Fit strong or Gunze Mr Mark Softer to soften decals. That's it.They snuggle down beautifully! Hope this helps, George.
  3. Great scheme Barry, love the subtle weathering. Hard to judge perfection but this might be one of your best! See you in Hamilton? George
  4. Hey Barry I notice you have the leading edge slats closed! That 190 pilot was Ernst Schroder. A model builder and pen pal with Bernie As far as the model goes another one of your beauties! George

  6. I think you have outdone yourself on this one Barry. WOW George
  7. when using Tamiya or Hasegawa decals try using fairly hot water to remove decal from backing or when the decal is down press with a hot cloth. Apparently the decals aren't thick but the glue makes them appear so. I have had good results using this method. cheers, George
  8. Looks good Barry. I have done some experimenting with riveting and found they look best when applied to the model after painting! Scary I know. Go over the surface with a cloth that has been used to apply silver powder. Gives a nice slightly worn surface. Cheers, George

  10. that's right Barry. Make sure you mix it well before thinning. Also you might need more than one coat. George
