Revell of Germany will re-box it in April. Zvezda finally confirmed that on their FB page the other day.

They are restricted to sale in Russia only. You will need to grab one off eBay or find a hobby shop in Russia selling them online.

Nice! Waiting for mine to arrive!

Giving this kit a chance since I've read so much good stuff about it. I started out by gluing all the flappy landing gear in place and filling those in. Pretty straight forward there. The major mod I did was fix the angle of the bridge. As built, the bridge is parallel to the trench, it should be parallel to the superstructure. I removed the sliver in the picture below. This angles the down just right. Next, I opened this area up so the front of the neck could drop down a bit. Keep in mind that this brings the bridge a bit closer to the superstructure, but it still looks good. Looks much better so far! For this build, I'm only lighting the main engines. I'll keep the tedious fiber optic work for the larger Zvezda kit that's coming my way. So with that, I have the engines wired with 5mm white LEDs. Stand is also mocked up. The wood base is just temporary for now. I still have to decide what to do with it. All in all pretty happy with this kit. It's growing on me and will tide me over until the Big Z arrives! Stay tuned for light test tonight. As far as the paint goes, I'm thinking grey primer followed by Tamiya fine white primer. Maybe a dark grey wash to finish it off.

Nice comparison picture of the Randy Cooper-Anigrand-Zvezda-and another resin cast kit that was posted over on the RPF. I'm surprised how close the Zvezda is to the Ani kit. Could just be the angle, but the super structure and the bridge on the Ani and Zvezda almost look the same size!

Mpc 1/72? Eagle Transporter
directorcass replied to Mike Esposito's topic in Science Fiction Discussion
Here is my build of this kit. I modified quite a bit like you want to do. http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/99-science-fiction-modeling/460714-r2-deluxe-eagle-transporter-build.html -
Just checked my eBay account and there was notification from the seller that my Zvezda SD shipped out today!!!!

Some are stating the kit is to be released on the 15th!

Bandai Star Wars Kit Embargo Lifted
directorcass replied to Richard Baker's topic in Science Fiction Discussion
It also appears the license is for ships and vehicles, not the figures. At least not yet. I think Disney realized that they could make more money if Bandai was allowed to sell in the states. It's a win win for Disney, Bandai and us. -
I've seen that build before. While he put a lot of effort into it, it's always seemed a bit off to me. I don't know if it's the hull being too dark a grey, or the red lights, or what, but yeah....
-
And it says Disney on the last page, which should put to rest the rumors of it being an unlicensed product!! I do like the parts breakdown. Yes, lighting will be a bit "different". Love the internal bracing as well. Looks like we are on schedule for next month!!!!

Star Wars new model kits from Bandai

Can't help it, whenever I think of the Rebel Transport I think of this.... -
You have the Revell Star Destroyer at 15 inches and reasonably detailed at around $30-$35.

Sorry Caerbannog, I missed the link you posted on page one. That is interesting that they have a 100 euro SD coming out.

This is not a Revell kit nor do I think Revell will be re-boxing it. This is not the same kit that Revell released with the lights and sound. That kit is only 16 inches long, this kit is 23.6 inches. I doubt Revell would distribute these as it would take away from sales of their own kits they developed. Besides, Revell only makes toys model kits for little kids now.

I think this should lay to rest any notion that is the animated version of the ship! Credit card loaded and waiting for the pre-orders to start popping up!

Been a bit under the weather this past weekend. More progress made though. Getting close to the finish line on this build. Still need to add "street trash" and do a little more weathering. -

The base is further along than what these pictures show. In fact, it's almost done. But here is what I started with. I grabbed a wood picture frame from HobbyLobby and removed the glass. For the asphalt, I used a roll of cork, also from HobbyLobby. It was cut to size. I took some chunks out and made a few rips. Save the chunks as they can be used for debris later after painting. I then marked on the backing board where the holes were. I glued RR ballast down to show under the potholes and cracks. The cork was then glued down and the whole thing painted flat black. It will be weathered later. Next I created a sidewalk from foam core board. I drew on some lines to show the curb and expansion gaps. I took my Xacto and cut these slits. I then took a ball point pen and ran it along the cuts. This deepened the cuts and rounded them for the next step. The sidewalk section was glued in place. It was then covered in a napkin soaked in diluted white glue. This gave texture to the sidewalk and also allowed the napkin to settle down into the joints. And finally you can see my mock up of a streetlamp in the last picture. Yes, it is lighted as well. I should be able to finish this all up this weekend. Thanks for following along! -

Thanks celt. She weighs a ton too! -
The car itself is done. I'll be doing a street base for it this weekend. It was a very challenging build with the multi piece body and the rear wing struts. Lighting this beast (and she weighs a ton!) was the easy part.
-
Thanks Graham. This kit has tried my patience more than once. The fiddly rear wing mounts were a pain to assemble and keep aligned to mount the wings.

Got a LOT of work done on this over the weekend.
