It's a big pre-painted snap together, more along the lines of an unassembled toy. Originally sold by Revel of Germany a few years ago.

X-Wing Miniatures Tantive IV
directorcass replied to directorcass's topic in Science Fiction Discussion
I just got this as a display piece since no proper kit exists. Never played the game, but it does intrigue me. I can see the game getting expensive though with all the ships available. And that is just what I DON'T need is another expensive hobby!!!! -
Just got this in yesterday. This is the Tantive IV miniature for the X-Wing Miniatures game. It's a pre-built, pre-painted "game piece". It's 13 inches long and very nicely detailed. I'll be breaking it down to e-paint it and light the engines. Boarding hatch and front landing gear. Rear landing gear.

1/24 Lotus Esprit S1 James Bond Car Submarine
directorcass replied to Gobs of Espresso's topic in Vehicle Discussion
I assume this not a licensed "James Bond" or even "Lotus" item. You may want to grab one or two just to be safe! Yes, it has clear parts, but they are so crystal clear I couldn't get good photos! It has separate clear lenses for the tail lights, front marker lights and headlights, each with their own chrome reflectors! The headlights even have the correct engraved lines in each lens. I'm really impressed with the details of this kit. It would have been nice to have a full engine though. Maybe they will go all out and release a full detail street kit. Actually, looking closer at the decals they say they are copyrighted by United Artists. So this must be a licensed "Bond" kit. -

Mine came in the other day. Great kit. Based on how the kit was designed, I'm sure they will do a street version at some point. -

Here is the completed T-70. Working on the Falcon now. Sneak peak of the Falcon. -
This is from the cartoon and not any of the movies. Therefore it is disproportionate just like the picture shows.

WIP- Lighted Bandai Falcon

Thanks guys! Received my 3D printed engine baffles from Tony on Shapeways. Very nice, molded open in a semi translucent. Should look great lit up. Spacing them out evenly with strips of sheet plastic. -
I used pillow stuffing for the smoke/exhaust on my eagle. Just pulled and twisted into shape and hit it with some primer and flat black from spray cans.

WIP- Lighted Bandai Falcon
directorcass replied to directorcass's topic in Work In Progress - SF & RealSpace
Got the cockpit completed over the weekend as well as Han and Chewie. Chewie with pre-shading. Looks a bit like a Clone Trooper! With some different browns mixed in and some silver for his belt. Han was a little easier. Now, problem one. After placing them in their seats it was pointed out on FB by a friend that the seat backs are far too large and squared off. Also Han sat very low in the seat. I broke out the Dremel and rounded the seat backs, reducing their height. I also made Han a scale phone book to sit on... Now it looks much better. I also tried my hand at thinning the canopy frame. Looks pretty good. -
WIP- Lighted Bandai Falcon

Thanks guys. Working on getting the cockpit together tonight and laying out the LEDs. -
Now that the T-70 is done, I figured I'd jump right into the Falcon. The Falcon will be lit. For the engines I'm using a leftover LED light strip from one of our aquariums. I removed it from the plastic housing and discovered the tape is mounted on thin strip of aluminum. I was easily able to bend this to the right curvature of the engine panel. It may be an LED or two too long, but it fits and looks great so I'm leaving it as is. What do you guys think? Oh, and no hot spots!! A quick video View My Video

Built this great kit over a week or so. Typical Bandai quality and fit. I opted not to use most of the blue hull markings. Since the whole ship was primered I had to repaint the blue hull stripes anyways. I only used the wing hash decals. Everything else was matched to the blue of the decals and painted by hand. I did not go heavy on the weathering opting instead to go for a cleaner, less abused, look. The base was covered in model railroad sand and glued down with diluted Elmers White craft glue. The stock ship support was replaced with clear acrylic rod. http://i65.tinypic.com/fxxkc0.jpg[/img

Star Wars new model kits from Bandai
directorcass replied to Despy's topic in Science Fiction Discussion
If I'm not mistaken, I could be though, decals 41, 42, 43, and 44 look to be the same black markings that are on the blue/silver stripes for the intakes. I can't find on the instruction sheet 41-44 listed. It doesn't look like the triangles are separate anywhere though. I may just trim those out of the blue/silver stripe decal as I'm pretty sure I'll paint all my blue markings. -

Space 1999 Deluxe Eagle finished

Thanks guys! -
I wanted to show off my R2/MPC Deluxe Eagle build. This is the kit that came out last year with the new resin lab pod and booster pack. Just about every part on this kit was modified in some way or another. A few of the mods are- Cages opened up. Walkways scratch built. Spine modified (narrower at top). Engine area braced and plumbed. Landing gear scratch built. Landing gear pods lowered and moved toward lab pod. CM sensors, RCS rockets and main engine baffles are 3D printed items. Enjoy the pictures. And on her finished display base. http://i62.tinypic.com/1z1hd3q.jpg http://i57.tinypic.com/idcfud.jpg http://i62.tinypic.com/55pld1.jpg http://i58.tinypic.com/5ckqw8.jpg http://i60.tinypic.com/e3am9.jpg _________________
