Stroll on mucka, I'd still be emptying the box at this point. Fair play to you, it's a lovely model already! -
Smart thinking Batman!

That was the great thing about seeing this beast up close, I fancy the kit and now I know how much space I'll need but never have! Hmmmmm- 131 replies

You can see part of the same vent just poking out behind the sailor in the first photo. I would say that it's above the boiler, I'll ask my dad the next time I'm home. You could also try the 'Hull Trawler Group' on Facebook!

The Last Ship USS Nathan James DDG 151
Jockster replied to SeanM's topic in Work in Progress - Maritime
Good news on series 5, would be nice if there was a little more ship on screen though. Glad to hear both you and Nathan will be at Telford, I'll keep an eye out for you and be sure to say hello! -

Yep, I have to agree with you about the carriers, I don't like the ramp and head on they look incredibly off balance! Typhoons are groovy too, but their best looking sub for me is the Alpha, very sleek and looks as fast as their reputation! -

Really love the Russians for good looking ships, I also have a Sovremenny, Slava and Udaloy. Niiiiice! Even their subs are great lookers! -

Great news matey, and I've just been reading that the Russians are refitting these four grand ladies. Some serious sabre rattling from Putin there! -

Looking rather splendid Sean, having the USS Cole ready to come back out when the new mancave gets sorted it's been a joy watching the Nathan James come together. Great little kits! -

I don't think Colourcoats will work for our Madhatter, postage is expensive for the UK let alone Ozville. What's your preferred weapon of choice for paints Hatter? Russian deck red is quite a rusty orange-red. Google images of the missile cruiser Varyag passing under the Golden Gateate bridge in San Francisco for good views of the deck colour. Part of the decks will be a charcoal grey a bit like Revell no.9 Anthracite. If you do go for Colourcoats then, as h20 says, they do the hull colours too, I'm pretty sure Lazarev was Pacific fleet. -

Nice work there mate, I have Kirov in the stash so I'll enjoy this. The Trumpy ship kits are pretty good and the inaccuracies that some moan about are really quite minor, mostly windows missing or wrongly located. The AK130s look pretty good too. -
Happy birthday Crustydude dude! All of the above, but invest in a decent dust mask, spend a few quid on some quality lung protection. Most of all, enjoy!

The Last Ship USS Nathan James DDG 151
Jockster replied to SeanM's topic in Work in Progress - Maritime
A bit of both Sean, I use a pinwashing around the hatches of the base colour with a touch of black to create a light shadow then base colour with a touch of white drybrushed afterwards to bring out the detail. Enjoying your build mate, now looking forward to watching the last two episodes. -
Looking very tasty Thom. Nice job!

Just waiting for the last two episodes to hit the net, even Mrs Jockster recognised your build as Nathan James which is quite a feat considering she calls my Iwo Jima the Eewie Jeewie!
