  1. I have recently picked up modelling again after a break of 25 years so a less detailed kit will work fine for me.
  2. It is coming along nicely but im using the Titanic reference site for the paint scheme, seems the kit ones are a bit off.
  3. Hi all I just bought an old 1978 Monogram kit of the above for £17 (bargain I thought) and would like to do it as a red tail. Can someone point me in the right direction of where I may obtain a decal set and after market parts? I have searched the internet and cant seem to find any reference of this kit, some are listed but the box art does not match the kit I bought. Thanks for any help given.
  4. Hello fellow modellers, I am currently building a 1:400 Titanic Academy kit but I didn't get the wooden deck addition as I wasn't aware it was available at the time. As I don't have the wood overlay, I would like to make it look as realistic as possible and ask for advice. I did think of using a wash but not sure how to go about this. Do I give it a coat of Klear first then use the wash (how long to let the Klear dry)? I also have some modellers ink, would this give the same effect? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  5. Yeah I am enjoying it, the quality of the parts are brilliant with no flash at all, not even on the small windows where you would normally expect it.
  6. I recently purchased the 100 Year Anniversary Titanic kit from Airfix only to find all sprues inside are badged up Academy and match the pics of the Academy kit that are online. Are Airfix and Academy the same company? Apologies if this has come up before but it has been a long time since I bought a new kit. Thanks

    Mr Surfacer 1200

I recently bought a job lot of paint from Ebay and in it was a new bottle of Mr Surfacer 1200. Can I use regular white spirit to thin it for use in an airbrush and if so, what ratio is needed? Also is it easy to clean out of the airbrush after, don't want to bugger my brush up. Thanks for the help.
  8. Does Alcalad require spraying outside then? I dont have a lot of room in my little modelling room and dont want to be stinking the whole house out.
  9. I would have never thought of cling film
  10. Can you reccomend which Alclad primer to buy, seen a few on Ebay but seems there are different types. Thanks
  11. Hi all, new to the forum so apologies if this is in the wrong section. I have recently taken up modelling after a 15 year break and things have certainly moved on in that time. I used to be a pant brush man but decided to take the plunge and buy an airbrush which I am very pleased with, especially the results. Problem I have is I recently primed a model using Vallejo surface primer and after 24 hours I masked off an area for painting. Upon removal of the tape it also removed a large portion of the primer layer. Prior to priming I washed the kit in soapy water to remove any release residue so not really sure where I went wrong so would apprciate some tips for the future. Thanks
