  1. Believe or not, this is me just getting around to painting this. Looking at the tamiya instructions it wants me to paint it XF20 medium grey, not the dunklegelb. I can't find any photos with grey, xf64 and xf67, why would they suggest grey? Thanks.
  2. Hi all. I'm looking for some recommendations for the mkiv. It's for my boys birthday and we've previously bought the emhar version which is very poor quality. I see tamiya and takom make a version. Is there anyone else worth looking at? And if possible he prefers the male variant. Thanks
  3. That's it painted sky. Got to laugh at airfix, they love hu90. It's recommended for their zero too.
  4. Can anyone help me with an underside colour question? Airfix are suggesting hu90 for the underside. I'm just wondering if that's supposed to be sky type s or duck egg green? Lots of forums are contradicting each other. Airfix A55111A Hawker Hurricane Mk.I-Starter Set, Various https://amzn.eu/d/hRRxR7G I have Vallejo versions of both colours.
  5. Someone needs to bring out a paint set for Finnish avf.
  6. Another good site. Cheers.
  7. That's a good site, cheers.
  8. So I'm building the Finnish tamiya stug and I was wondering if the Germans would have delivered these in dunklegelb or red primer? This is purely to decide how to chip it. https://www.tamiya.com/english/products/35310finnish_army/index.htm I'm thinking it would probably be delivered in dunklegelb with the Finnish applying their own camo. Any ideas? Thanks.
  9. It's this kit here. https://one35scale.com/products/1-35-sd-kfz-161-1-panzerkampfwagen-iv-ausf-h-early-version-tamiya?variant=42840191140071&currency=GBP&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&utm_campaign=gs-2020-10-03&utm_source=google&utm_medium=smart_campaign&gclid=Cj0KCQjwzLCVBhD3ARIsAPKYTcTxZFXQfB3wr0kgV3KzCyQNo_QmdgJB7L6UN12IiKhg-G8V1q0JdnUaAnlMEALw_wcB I've attached the schurzen primed this time. Am I reading you correctly when you said the camouflage colours were painted in the field on top of primer? Thanks.
  10. I was wondering about the inside colour of schurzen. I was going to leave it primer red but now I'm thinking I should paint it yellow. What do you all think? Cheers.
  11. I'm watching combat dealers right now and he's in Finland with sten. Sten has a kubblewagon and it had wooden duck boards on the floor. The seat colour was the same as the paint.
  12. I would have thought so too. The reason for asking was a kubblewagon. After painting the entire car tropen colours I thought I would have been better painting the inside and underside dunklegelb. I can't see them painting inside tropen in the field, not much point.
  13. I was wondering if German tanks sent to North Africa would have been painted dunklegelb or grey first and then painted the desert colour. Any thoughts?
  14. Ok. The colour call out made me think it was wood. I would have assumed it was the same base colour inside and out but tamiya suggested browns on the floor.
  15. Actually I should clarify. It's not only the tools I was wanting to paint but the floors on a swimwagon and a kubblewagon. I think floors would be wooden but I'm not too sure.
  16. There's some quite advanced options here. I got the orange clear so I'll start with that before I try the more advanced options.
  17. When you say clear orange what exactly do you mean?
  18. I've got Vallejo wood, it definitely needs something on top
  19. Can anyone recommend a good colour for the tools on tanks? I don't have much luck making them look authentic. I have all the tamiya xf range but none really suit. Is there a Vallejo or mig bottle that would do the job? Many thanks.
  20. Hi all. I build a lot of Tamiya tanks but up until now I've not bothered with the figures, mainly down to not having the paint available. So now I want to start painting the tank crews, US, German, Russian mainly and I was thinking it would be much easier just to buy a set, something like the vallejo panzer aces sets. Something like this https://www.emodels.co.uk/vallejo-panzer-aces-color-set-70128.html http://www.norton.co.uk/70126-panzer-aces-no-3-8-model-colour-acrilic-paint-set-p8498 I was looking at the mig ammo site but I couldn't see tank crew sets, it was mainly infantry. Is there any other options out there for tank crew sets? I could use the Tamiya colour call outs but the Tamiya doesn't brush well. Thanks in advance.
  21. What determines an ambush pattern? Is it the little speckles over the three colours? Thanks.
  22. Thanks Chris. Once you realise that you can effectively use your own imagination and interpretation I suppose. I was all over YouTube and the net yesterday trying to pick a camo pattern, still haven't decided yet. Cheers.
