  1. No pics but coming along. Got the main paint scheme on. I never prime so inevitably, I was left with some areas that needed a bit of attention, including a small "constellation" of tiny pin holes on the front starboard fuselage. The canopy was a poor fit (get it lined up correctly on the port side with the sill, front coaming & rear fairing & it overlaps the starboard side sill by 1mm at the windscreen arch upto 3-4mm at the rear!) so I have spilt it into it's four sections & will display it open; could be a problem as there will be some missing detail on the canopy frames ( I can't scratch build!). The Hasegawa kit windscreen was a perfect fit so I've used that.

  3. The really delicate parts appear to be the small triangular fillets infront of each tailplane. They were broken on my first example & yes, on the one I just received! Have a look at your example. Not too difficult to fix.
  4. All three 1/48 & built over the last year. The Gnat is the lovely Aeroclub kit, mainly injection & white metal with just a vacformed canopy & really easy to build. It's rare now but well worth tracking down. OOB with a needle for the nose probe. The Hawk is Airfix with Neomega pit, CMK undercarriage (I managed to get the nose wheel bay back to front so don't pick it up & look!) & MA decals. The Tucano is the Aconcagua full resin kit. This is a beautiful (if rather pricey model) & offers fantastic detail, especially in the cockpits. The u/c legs it has been pointed out to me are rather "stalky" & probably represent the oleos as being not under pressure - Aconcagua wouldn't be the first manufacturer to make this mistake. It also weighs a ton & is the daddy of all tail sitters despite my cramming as much lead in the nose as would fit so yes, that is BlueTac holding the nose down! I've got another in the pile & will hopefully make a better job if it. Decals for the Tucano are from MA again. Hope you like!
  5. Their website is up & running & I've just paypalled them for 4 x MB12 seats so I flippin' well hope so! I got their Harrier deployed IFR probe last year for a GR7 build, unfortunately it arrived too late for me to use so ended up scratch building my own.   7. The FR47 was outwardly an FR46 with folding wings. There were a few internal diffs. Kit is brilliant (but paint your own Korea stripes!!)

  9. I'm sure I used an Airwaves seat in my GR7 last year but the only seat listed by Hannants is an Aeroclub offering. Did/do Airwaves produce a Mk12? Want to sling a pair in my T10.
  10. Brush & cocktail stick method. If you're clever & the tyre to hub demarkation is as it should be, I find you can hold the brush completely still & rotate the cocktail stick between your fingers & achieve a perfect job. Airbrush? No thanks; too much bother for me to go out to the garage, mix the paint, 30 secs of spray then clean up again!
  11. Air brushing is a skill, not too difficult a skill but a skill nevertheless. I remember my first efforts with a cheap airbrush & they weren't pretty. I suspect that with practice & perhaps a better quality airbrush things will improve. Sounds to me like you're laying down to much paint - a common fault with cheaper a/brushes that allow little control. I find that putting the model somewhere warm such as an airing cupboard or near a radiator (not on it!), or even (in summer) in the sun speeds up drying time. Blue Tac can leave an outline but it's never been to bad a problem for me. I use mainly enamels (usually Xtracolour). Keep at it & don't despair!

  13. Ian, look at the LERX in your pic & compare with mine & see where the Lerx itself joins the wing leading edge. On mine, the LERX "web" extends right to the edge of the resin component on yours there is a section of the straight wing leading edge between the "web" & the joint. As for the sanding well for me it's just good old fashioned wet'n'dry, elbow grease......and a lot of mess!

  16. Ian, those LERX are definately not the same as the ones in my example. Someone posted that they looked like 100% rather than the correct 65%.

  18. Alright, here's mine, Airfix built a year or so ago. I used to have two Dynavector kits but sold one recently though I'll never sell the other!

  20. 72nd is not my scale but the Airfix FAW9 makes up into a very nice little kit with Firestreaks & belly tanks & some good detail inside the u/c bays & doors. However the afterburners are way too small. I have heard of people using the a/b cans from the Heller kit with success.

  22. These are great. Obviously Pete you are on AAR duties! There's an American over on ARC who is similarly employed & often posts similar pics/subject taken through the boom operators station. Nice to see something with a "British perspective", after all this is "Britmodeller"!
