  1. On a bit of a Mirage "kick" at the moment having recently built the 1/48 Heller IVP & here is it's smaller brother, the IIIC. This is the Profipack edition with etched parts, canopy masks etc & very nice it is too. Not quite "shake'n'bake" but builds up nicely & quite easily with care. Not quite sure what it's doing toting a live R530 on the centre line with practice Magics on the wings but "heyho"! Xtracolour "Mirage Bleu" topside with aluminium undersides. Kit decals which went on very well (there are a lot of them).
  2. Nice build despite your problems. I have to say that, having built a couple, this is my favourite Airfix kit! It builds up beautifully & lots of colourful schemes to boot!!
  3. Can't help thinking that in cases like this, the authorities concerned may treat a recovery, even if it had no real financial/technical/humanitrian benefits, as practice in order to keep skills sharp for instances that MAY actually matter & which are thereby more likely to be successful.
  4. Very nice work! IIRC, CA produced TWO Whirlwind kits with the first being a complete nightmare. Am I right & if so was this the original or later offering?
  5. Flew to Italy in a Britannia as a kid on holiday. I do remember it was a little noisy!
  6. Oooo got to get one or two of these! If you never saw (or HEARD!) the four Vulcan scramble performed at an airshow, you really missed out.
  7. I've had an ancient book on the RAF for 50 odd years with a picture of this monster in it. I never realised there was a kit of it! Nice job!
  8. Hope your partner is on the mend. I have such nice childhood memories of the Frog Meteor F4 with its RAF & Dutch AF decals! I recently managed to gram a 1/48 CA F4 on eBay & looking forward to starting it.
  9. Seeing this just makes me want to chuck it all in!
  10. That is SUCH an old kit! I remember seeing it in model shops back in the early 80s & always fancied a pop. Nice job!
  11. Can I join please, probably with an Airfix FR9? Never taken part in a group build in all the years I've been here!

    Covid Jab

Had my first shot on Wednesday. Completely painless but 24hrs later, I was feeling very under the weather with flu like symptoms (aches, pains etc.) but I stress these were the possible side effects they advised about at the time & 24 hrs later (today) they have passed.
  13. Panel lines look a little deep & if we see this in 2021 I'll eat my hat!
  14. Over on FB there's a page dedicated to British Aviation Modelling where one member spent a lot of time & money on a replacement cockpit (Neomega?), only to have to rip a lot of it out as it simply wouldn't fit between the fuselage halves. Replace the seat if you find one but as a British subject with the usual black-hole of a cockpit, I'd leave it at that! And yes I had built one, it's a lovely kit OOB!
  15. Welcome & looking forward to seeing your work! This is a great site for CONSTRUCTIVE criticism and advise, don't be afraid to ask! Cheers Graham
  16. That's a lovely build & finish. I remember reading about Paddy Finucane in a childhood magazine, called "Look and Learn", waaaaaay back in the 60s. In that article his final words were "this is it chaps" rather than "this is it Butch" to his wingman, according to the Wiki article I just read to refresh my memory.
  17. You'll need the FG1 kit to build an FAA machine (different stabs, nose gear, cat attachment points (actually these might be of the FGR2 sprues).
  18. Nice! I'm currently "into" French aircraft & Mirages in particular having recently finished the Heller IVP & currently working on the Eduard III
  19. I'm sure there are a few sheets out there - search Hannants site? The Airfix kit will be out in the spring so there are bound to be sheets issued to go with it!
