  1. Nice work. Is there no engine fan in the kit or is it just the angle of the shot?
  2. Yes, a good wash is the answer. Some claim that this is not necessary with modern kits as they use less (or a different) release agent but I still wash all mine on the sprue & again before painting.
  3. Well there's a thing, 'cos it barely fits the kit!! Ah well, it's on now.
  4. Cheers Hatchet. I've actually used the part that was on the clear sprue, having chopped off the tip of the resin nose & attached it. Just wish I'd done so before painting!!!!
  5. When I built armour a few years back I used this: http://www.hannants.co.uk/search/?FULL=X813
  6. Quick "Q". What colour are these on the GR7. Looks like green on top, clear below. Is that correct? One addition "Q". Is there a blast screen between the front & rear cockpits as per the Hawk/Bucc? If so is it infront of the "bridge" or behind?
  7. Well she's starting to look like a T10! The conversion provides markings for 20 squadron but I used decals from the MA sheet as I preferred the 4 squadron markings. I tried to use some of the conv set stencils but they disintegrated in the water! Therefore, I used stencils from the Hasegawa GR7 (I've got the MA stencil sheet for use with the GR7). Note lack of seats & canopy; the conv set seats are not good & the seats in the Hasegawa GR7 kit are just the wrong type! I've ordered a pair of Mk10 seats from AMRAAM but they'll probably take a month to arrive. I've cut the canopy into it's component parts with a view to displaying it open as it simply doesn't fit as a closed unit. This means I'm going to have to add a bit of detail to the rails & frames - it won't be brilliant but hopefully it'll look better with something there, however spurious. I'll have to forgoe any attempt at an MDC for the canopies - that really IS beyond me. Currently trying to add the nose sensor glazing & one or two small details. With a couple of Eduard Mirage 2000 & Airfix Nimrods having just arrived, I need to get this one finished!!
  8. Refs I have seen say it was "1959-60" that the change to EDSG/White came in. The only FAA front line types that bridge that period & that I can think of are the Sea Hawk & Sea Venom & it was common to see front line a/c in the "old" EDSG/Sky scheme after 1960.
  9. Fold the wings! I've got two built, one with folded & the other unfolded......but then I've got another 3 or 4 in the pile!
  10. Yes, just found another on ebay with parts photos & it is the Hasegawa kit. The seat matter is a real bugger as apart from the Aeroclub w/m/etched part only AMRAAM do a resin replacement which is quite nice but they are very sssslllllooooowww to deliver. I've got four on order from them - two for my current T10 & two for kits in the stash!
  11. http://www.hannants.co.uk/search/?FULL=RV4581 presumably this is the HASEGAWA kit?
  12. Nice, I'd like one of those to complement my Aeroclub Gnat.
  13. Yay Hunters, lovely! Is the FGA9 HSS or LAG underneath? (NO, NO FORGET I ASKED THAT!!!! )
  14. Wow, had to do a double take on that second one! Picked up a copy of Andy Evans book "Nimrod, the Mighty Hunter" recently & it's a good ref, especially for colours & markings.
  15. Looks good, and where in the the UK might one procure said detail set?

There's a coincidence. Having given up on Humbrol Metalcote, I've just this minute used Boltgun Metal on the exhausts of my Harrier T10 & was very impressed - good coverage & fast drying. However it's a bit reluctant to come off the brush using either Humbrol thinners or white spirit; do they do a specific cleaner?
  17. Thanks for the comments chaps. That Gnat is a great little kit & I'd like another. Unfortunately the only one that ever crops up on ebay nowadays is the fighter variant.
  18. The Airfix Hawk is rather nice. Contains all you need to make a pretty decent replica but a Neomega cockpit is a great addition even though it cost more than the kit!)
  19. Given the breakdow of parts in the hasegawa kit I feel that they have a two seater in mind anyway. Same went for their F104 kits - took a while coming but arrived all the same.
  20. Ed no don't do it, not the "blood and custard" scheme!!!
  21. Talking of the box art.....it seems that the two a/c in the pic are the same one. Certainly the same code letter & it looks like the same serial!
