Looks Great. Some day I will get to build one.

Hi Dan No offence taken. As they say it's not everyone cup of tea. I try to do something different. Ken

Thank you. I kept the kit for ages and when I saw this set of decals I had to build it

JASDF F-15j 50th Anniversary 305th TFS Hyakuri Air Base. Tamiya 1/48 First off, sorry about the photos. They are not great. I started this for the F-15 group build a couple of years ago. I finished it last year, but I've not had a chance to put it up on the forum. The kit is from tamiya and the decals are from Platz. Regards
-
That is great. I can't wait to really start to build the CL-44. I've had it for so many years sitting wait to be done. I'll post some photos over the next couple of day showing the kit.

Hi, I would like to take part in this group build, if that is ok? I'm not very good at finishing on time. But this time I will. I have two option that I could build. The first is an F-rsin Dassault Mercure. The other option is a Welsh Models CL-44, but as I have already started to remove the part. I'm not sure if this count in the group build. Ken.

Hi All Started working on the F-14a. First job was to remove a line on the centre of the canopy. I used some wet&dry and polished with a cloth. Then covered it with future floor cleaner. It really came out well. I also built up some of the basic part or the kit. I will post some more photos tomorrow. Hi All I know I’m a bit late joining this group builds, but I should be able finish on time. I don’t have a good record on finishing group builds, I started an F-15 last year and I'm still working on it. I’m going to build the Fujimi 1/72 Iranian Air Force F-14a. I plan to start tomorrow and I will try an put up some photos everyday as I build. Anyway here are some photos of the kit. Ken

Hi Is it to late to join the group build. I have two F-14A, a 1/72 Fujimi and 1/48 Hasegawa. I don't think I would have time to build both. If I started with the 1/72 one I see how it goes. Ken

Hi Sorry it’s taken me so long to write a reply to all your nice comments. Thank you very much. It is nice to see other airliners on the forum. I plan to build some more airliners later in the year, I have to finish some other models first. I've converted 2 A330-300 to -200. I had almost finished them but when I move to my new apartment they ended up in a box waiting to be finished. One was an Air Greenland and the other was BMI. Ken

Hi All I finished this model last month. I built it for a friend. It’s a Revell 1/144 Airbus A330 and is out of the box. I did add some extra decals. When I get a but more time and space I will build my two A330. Ken

JASDF 50th Anniversary of JASDF 305th TFS Hyakuri Air Base
kmf replied to kmf's topic in F-15 Eagle Single Type Group Build
Hi All I have to admit defeat on this group build. That is not to say I’m giving up on finishing this build, I will and I will post it on the forum. I've never had so many problems painting a kit. I did not get to spend as much time on the build as I had planned, but I was beginning to make some progress until I had problem with paint and then my compressor broke. I hope it will be back working this week. So I can finish this project and a number of other ones. Ken -

Hi Danny Yes the kits look the same. Can wait to see this one finished only had it for an age. Thank you for the photo. On my instructions it did not say what to do. I was going to have it, so you could take the radome off, but I don't like that, because the part don't fit back together well. I had come up with the same idea of building a hinge and stay bar. I really want to get to the painting part of the build. that is when I will be happy. Ken -
Hi Danny The cockpit is looking good. I was going to use photoetch instead of the decals, but the decals look good, so I'm going use them to, save some money. Thank for the photos of the radar. I would like to make a decals for the little warning on the radar, but I'm out of paper. But I can always come back to it. Ken

JASDF 50th Anniversary of JASDF 305th TFS Hyakuri Air Base
kmf replied to kmf's topic in F-15 Eagle Single Type Group Build
Thank you, There is so many to go for. I just could not do this in the standard grey. I can't wait to get it finished. Got a little bit done this week, but it still does not look much. I was go to hold off doing anything on this project this week, as I was going to get some parts for the cockpit, but decided to work on and I could fit the parts after. As you can see the fuselage has been glued, the wing and horizontal stabiliser are attached. My next job is to fit the air intakes, so I can do some filling and paint the wheels. I re-scribe the panel lines on the horizontal stabiliser. I don’t know why Tamiya have raised panel lines on them. Regards Ken -
JASDF 50th Anniversary of JASDF 305th TFS Hyakuri Air Base

Hi All Well I’ve not been able to do much work on this GB this week. Had to work on some other projects. I also decided to get some extra parts to finish the cockpit. So when I get them I should be able to get more done. I have been working small bits. So the wing are glued, filled and sanded. Painted the cockpit, air intake, landing gear, wheel wells and most of the radar. I know I’ve not got a lot done and I don’t think I will get a lot done this week, but I should be ok after that. Regards Ken -

Thank you for the Link. It will be helpful. I'll replace the exhaust with this set. http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/AIRE4336 Are you trying to say GB are like Pringles (once you start you can't stop!) Well it's too late. I signed up for the 1/144 GB and I'm doing a Nightfighter GB on The IPMS Ireland Forum http://forum.ipmsireland.com/topic/8342367/1/#new Thank you all for your comments. I can't wait to start building. I will try my best to put up some build photo every week. Regards Ken -
Hi Everyone This is my first GB on britmodeller, so I'm interested to see how it go. I've had this kit for almost 15 years, so I think it's about time I build it. I'm going to finish it in JASDF 50th Anniversary of JASDF 305th TFS Hyakuri Air Base marketings. I'm also thinking of replacing the engines and maybe get a new cockpit. Anyway look forward to seeing everyone's F-15. Regards Ken

Hi I would like to thank you all for your nice comments. I can understand how people find this kits daunting, but I think the way to tackle a kit like this is to break it up into small jobs and set a time to get that job done. My next project is a 1/72 Hurricane MK.IIc for a group build on the IPMS Ireland forum, so a I’ll copy the build onto this forum. Thank . Ken

Hi All This is my latest build and my first time posting a build on Britmodeller. Sorry if I have put this in the wrong place. The kit is from FM. It has a bit of everything resin, vacform, photoetch and white metal. I have to say I like the kit and would build it again. I finished it just in time for Scale Model World and you may have seen it on the IPMS Ireland table. You can seen my build on the IPMS Ireland forum http://www.ipmsirela...0-Magister.aspx I’ve tried to copy it on to this forum This is the F.M. release for the Fouga CM-170 Magister in 1/48. The model is built up with injection molded parts, but it also comes with resin, vacform, photoetch and white metal. It looks like a nice kit and should build into a very nice model. The instructions are just A4 pages photocopied and some of the parts are not numbered, but they are clear and that is the main thing. The kit comes with some nice decals, French Air Force, Belgium, Moroccan, Lebanese, Katanga and Algerian. But I won’t be going with any of those, as I have Max Decals sheet No. 4805 and on it is the Silver Swallows Display Team, So I will just have to build an Irish Fouga. The build. Day 1 (18th Aug 2012) I did not spend too much time on it, but started with the cockpit. It’s one big lump of resin and it has some bits to be removed that are left over from the molding. This is easily done using some wet and dry. I always wet the resin and paper to cut down the dust. It also helps the paper to work better and faster. I then worked on the wings, they had a lot of flash on them so that all had to be carefully removed. That was the end of day one. Day 2 (19th Aug 2012) The fuselage halves needed some flash removed from them and the other problem was the cockpit was to big, so there was a gap between the halves, I sanded the cockpit and the inside of the fuselage to remove any little bumps, but this did not fix the problem. So I had to go to plan “B”. Painted the insides of the fuselage with Indian ink and then placed the resin cockpit in. When I removed the resin, anywhere I saw black ink that was a place I needed to sand down. The other job was to reduce the trailing edge if the wing. Remove the tails and clear them off. Then super glue the wheel wells to the lower wing halves. Day 3 (20th Aug 2012) I was back to getting the cockpit resin down to size. A bit of time spent doing this will save a lot of filling later. I also had to sand down the wheel wells so the wing halves would fit together. When the fit of the wing halves was good I added a line of super glue along the joints that will insure a strong wing. When the glue was set a quick rub down with some sandpaper will remove the marks of the joints. The wings will be left over night to fully set. The last job of the night was to add the front landing gear frame to the resin cockpit. The frame is one piece of photoetch that has to be folded and glued into place. Day 4 (21th Aug 2012) I did not get a much work done today. That was due to me watching some Tail Ships coming in. But What I did get done was glue the wing tip tanks and sand them. Day 5 22nd Aug to Day 20 6th Sep At this stage of the build I’m just about ready to start painting. I had many problems with this kit. But I have to say non of them where too bad. After working so hard to get the fuselage joints to fit I have a really bad joint after I glued them together. I had big gaps and they did not join at the same level. I just had to fill and sand a number of times. The wings worked great. I had no problems at all with them. The canopy was the bit I was worried about. It’s vacform and that is the first time I tried this. I filled the canopy with bluetac and placed it in the freezer. The next day I cut around the canopy with a knife and remove the bluetac. The dry fix for the canopy was good, but it still needs some filling after being glued into place. I will fill the gaps at the canopy tonight and sand tomorrow. Saturday will be the start of the painting. Ken
