Tres Beau, Jari. Gotta get me one some day, just waiting for a boxing with an option for one of those Maltese shipkillers. V-P

Yep I thought it might be too heavy to have all open in one bird.

Continued...
A whole lotta fresh nice plastic kits here!
Oops, I forgot the ASK canopy mask sets from this pic, well, they can be seen in the Do 215 thread anyway
Apart from the choice of building them wheels up or down - both will be built legs down - I will use all the kit options in these two builds:
- one /U2 and one /U4 -> both decals options too
- leading edge slats open and closed
- elevators straight and drooped
- radiator flaps open and closed
- 300L drop tanks aboard or not.
I don't know if I choose to build one "clean", all options closed and the other "dirty", with everything wide open like on a Piccadilly Commando back then, or mix them (probably I will mix them by accident anyway) .
How can I keep expecting the future bomber and recce boxings, if I don't use all the options so far provided? Once more, thank you Airfix for the best surprise kit in my lifetime V-P

Welcome, that looks like quite a pro-approach to model building! V-P

I'm as green on envy for your beautiful Beau, congratulations! V-P

Mmmm, yes, I've had these two kits for a while now, and received the ASK canopy mask sets last week. Now the Dornier is finished, and I can't just get excited about continuing the He 177 yet, so I'll tackle these next. TBC... V-P

Congratulations for a great build Craig! Thanks for educating us all (or at least many of us, me included) about the Mosquito. As Matt said, Mabel over there is very proud of this. Thanks for sharing that all with us 😊. V-P

Dornier Do 215 B-9 P4+AA (buildthread)
Führungskette X. Fliegerkorps, Luftwaffe Kommando Südost, Heraklion Crete 1942
ICM 1:72 scale Do 215 B-4 kit #72305
Out-of-the-box build, no deviations - though the bomb bay and the engine cowlings are empty empty empty (that's just an echo echo)
Canopy mask set by Peewit, ICM kit stencils and OWL decals set #72015 for Generalfeldmarschall Erwin Rommel's courier bird
Brush painted using mostly Revell supermarket enamels, but the main colours came from Humbrol enamel tins #248 and #249
A Dornier Fliegender Bleistift with inline engines and Afrikatarnung? Jawohl! Not my neatest and cleanest build, but a jolly good one anyway 🙂
Thanks to Enzo, James and several supporters along my build! Well what have I done in this GB so far? Messerschmitt ✔️ Junkers ✔️ Dornier ✔️ Heinkel :che... no, not yet

Well, reading this magnificent build thread makes me want to tuck my Frog B-17 kit deeper back in the closet

All I can say it was worth the extra step backwards before getting forward again - but in most cases we need to do some of that anyway. That Fokker looks very good now! V-P

Wow, a masterpiece! That paintojob made me quickly regret how much I complain about painting just one lousy white fuselage band. Well done! V-P

Thanks!
I just hated the ICM Do 215 stencils... I ran out of patience assembling disintegrating caution texts like "Ni cht be tre ten". That in about eight millimeters of length, two in height. About 75% of them is there though but the rest will never be. I did't even try my luck with their Balkenkreutze either, I trusted the Owl decals act better. Strange, as I can't recall anything like this in my previous three builds of their Dornier kits
They are of course a country in a brutal war that they were not faulty for 🇺🇦. I better stick with my decision not to buy anything from Zvezda anymore.
The Owl decals worked just great! Quickish to apply, very thin and neat. The Dornier was then taken through final assembly and all the bits'n'pieces are now in place. All that's left is a few little paint touch-ups, cleaning of dried excess Micro Set/Sol and then flat varnish. The build thread is now done, I hope to get the pics in the Gallery tonight.

What? Has Albert Hammond lied to us in singing "it never rains in Southern California"?

Nice progress with the build, and a very clean one! There'd be plenty of painting in those big wings while you wait for the mask set to arrive . V-P

Oh! I wasn't aware He 115 was (as a seaplane, of course ) one of the planes using RLM 72/73 instead of the more common 70/71 scheme. Now that you mentioned it, an Arctic Luftwaffe bird would be my choice too 😊. V-P

It looks great! It looks funny! It looks like you'd have added He 111 wings on a Bf 110 fuselage, at least the cockpit section. You know which paint scheme I'd suggest for you...

When I got back to building model airplanes, I sold my Roco HO DCC BLS Br 185 loco, Liliput Hupac sleeping car and six Fleischmann Hupac RoLa- cars with Herpa trucks and semitrailers. That was the crown jewel of my Swiss Alpine trains, but I could finance my "new" hobby for a few years with that! . V-P
