  1. Yay!!! Finally another 1/144'er!! I'm not the only one. Will be looking forward to this one. Quite jealous actually as its not a tigremeet scheme!! Kind Regards Dazz
  2. Nice choice dude!! I'm feeling a bit out of place by not doing either a US aggressor or using an academy kit... However if I get the MTD done, I do have decals for two F-15C's from the JASDF aggressors. So we got one covered Kind Regards Dazz Edit : F-15C's?? I meant F-15DJ's... Least that's what they are on the box. It's amazing what you think about while at work...
  3. Charley420, that made me laugh. Never heard of 1/144 referred to as the "ikkle scale" before but it fits Dave, thank you I might just do both tbh. Monty, thank you, hope I don't disappoint. I was thinking about this some more last night, as I am doing the MTD/ACTIVE (different engines iirc) I won't need the burners from Zactomodels. So once the Retrowings stuff turns up, I am all sorted. In a stroke of pure luck again, I have some NASA decals of the right size to go on the second of the two aircraft. So that's sorted now too Kind Regards, Dazz
  4. Dave, Aye I still am planning on attempting an MTD/ACTIVE. It was the markings I am unsure about, but you answered my question in my WiP thread. Thank you Kind Regards Dazz
  5. Hello one and all, This is my first GB, hope I don't cock it up! Anyhow while I wait clarification about "What-ifs", I post what I wanted to do and then what I will be doing if not. First one I wanted to do was a plane I used a lot when I had my old PS2 out. It's from the computer game Ace Combat Zero : The Belkan War (I know the two main aircraft in this game where F-15C's but I am not doing them... yet) its called the F-15 ACTIVE, as far as I am aware there was only one of these aircraft made and is now retired. It was used for lots of experiments and was also the first aircraft that I knew of that had thrust vectoring nozzles both 2D and 3D ones. Well here is the scheme I wanted to do, from the game. I must apologise for the crappy picture, but you get the point. Here is the actual "squadron" I will be doing and the aircraft. I do not own the artwork and I have no idea whom to ask either, but originally it belongs to Namco-Bandai. Not much in the way of stencils there, but I will see what I can source from my spares. Also I think that middle fuel tank should be a gun pod as the gun was removed for the canards. If anyone is looking at the canards and thinking "Hang on... they look familiar!!" It's because they have come from an F-18's horizitonal stabilizers. I had to check that one up on NASA's website, even I didn't believe it! The only thing I am going to have difficulty with is, the squadron badge, triangles/bars and the star. If you are wondering why the markings on this fictitious aircraft/country look like the ones used by America, its because in the game, Osea is based on America. I am planning on making my own decals for this one also. I need to learn a few things for this one before I can decal it. Now if this isn't allowed I will be making the proper version of this plane that NASA flew and will be building this one in the background for fun. I will be using the great Revell 1/144 F-15E Strike Eagle (what the original was made from), and also I will be using the Zactomods upgrade set as well as the Retrowings sets (once they arrive). In a stroke of pure planning greatness (or pure fluke you decide!) I already have the F-18 canards from when I made my F-18D, the Retrowings set for the control surfaces came with spare horizontal stabilizers but I never used them. So I will be using them on here. I will post up the bits as and when they arrive. I am hoping it will be soon. Kind Regards, Dazz
  6. Oh wow! I've seen that paint work on model box artwork and various other bits of artwork around the interwebs and thought it was just a made up thing. Never knew it actually existed! Will be looking forward to seeing this one. Kind Regards, Dazz
  7. Nice to see another newbie to the hobby, admitted I'm not so new as I've been back into modelling for over a year now... Anyhow... Like what you have done thus far with the cockpit, will be watching this one with interest. Gotta finish my projects yet. Think I have 4 of these in my stash alone. Great little model from what I've seen. Kind Regards Dazz
  8. Just for clarification purposes, but when I asked in early December about "what-ifs" being allowed, I was told they where. If they are now not I'm gonna have to change my ideas completely. Kind Regards Dazz
  9. I know, she is a weird little plane. Sometimes called the F-15 "ACTIVE" depending on the engines it has. The one I was looking at will be very colourful and have a lot of masking to do... Yay all in 1/144 too... What am I letting myself in for?? Kind Regards Dazz
  10. Changed my mind on what I *might* do, was looking at printing my own decals for this one. Depends if I can get a decent enough picture. However is the F-15MTD still allowed? It's an F-15E with F-18 canards, actually checked that one up on NASA's website. Dazz
  11. You never know, *some* people might get fussy with it being called a "Growler" instead of a "Hornet/Super Hornet". Just checking, got the Dragon 1+1 to make Dazz
  12. That'll be the MiG-1.42/44 I was going to buy it to fix one missing bit on my Revell 1/144 MiG 1.44. But thought better of it, by the looks of it I made the right choice! I later found the missing bit in the Sun at page 3... I wont ask! However I have also seen these "models" in Primark, shop full of cheap and nasty stuffs. So take that as you will Sorry for the lateness of my message. Kind Reagrds, Dazz
  13. bootneck, in reference to your sig. Easter Eggs went on the shelves on the 24th where I work Kind Regards, Dazz
  14. Thanks for the heads up Don (if you don't mind me calling you Don??). Is space really empty? I keep getting told its full of Dark Matter got a mate who works at CERN/LHC whatever you prefer to call it. Ill check out ARC thank you. Was toying with the idea of building the ISS with a shuttle docked with it... Glotton for punishment I reckon. Kind Regards Dazz
  15. Hey all, first time poster in this section... A bit weird considering I own an 8" dobsonian telescope... :/ anyways, as I'm into astronomy my girlfriend bought me the Airfix Space Shuttle 1/144 (my preferred scale). So I might do that for the 1/144 GB instead of the Gundams. Was hoping to build it on a launch pad of some kind. Any advise is *greatly* appreciated Kind Regards Dazz
  16. I've just noticed that RetroWings have released some cockpit tubs for the LS F-15's and Revell F-15E... That's a bit of a result, means I don't have to attempt a scratch build cockpit now. now I can choose an aggressors F-15... Or might paint one like one from Ace Combat... Decisions decisions Kind Regards Dazz
  17. Very nice looking I've done the same plane in 1/144 and that took over a year (I kept screwing it up). Still very nice plane there Kind Regards Dazz
  18. Thank you Clift. I am rather proud of these two thus far, just hope I can do a good paint job on the CF-188A. Thanks for the advice Tom. I'm thinking of spraying it in the conservatory and blaming the smell on my sisters nail varnish . I will try your method tho, after some finishing touches on the F-18D Kind Regards Dazz
  19. Cool cool just checking, if we where allowed to do Animes, I was thinking of Terradive from Transformers. A black and orange Sukhoi S-37 Berkut (Su-47 to some). Ill have to have a rethink now Tbh I've never actually seen it. I saw a bit of it once on a German channel on sky when I was 8 years old, many many moons ago. Just thought it was weird that F-14's where chasing Zeros... Kind Regards Dazz
  20. I've ordered loads of stuff from Retrowings and never had any problems. Keep on meaning to order the E-2D (aka Hawkeye 2000) stuff myself. Ill be insterested to know what the bits looks likes if that's okay?? Kind Regards Dazz
  21. Thank you Jessica, you have no idea how happy I am with this model now. Not too sure if I should keep the gloss coat on as in the pics I've found the plane is very clean and shiny. Dunno yet. Thank you tho Jessica, tomprobert, and Neal for coming to my rescue!! . Now do I wanna attempt the built in access ladder? Hhmm... Kind regards Dazz
  22. Sweet, I'll join in too... doubt it will be with the Valkyrie as mines about 30% done, might do it as a side project tho. I'll either do an 1/144 Tornado GR1 (Gulf War), an Aggressor F-14 or even an MiG-23... dunno yet. I gotta write down all of these group builds I have entered. :/ Wonder if the Tu-144 counts, the front canards "swing" Kind Regards, Dazz
  23. Hello all, I haven't been able to do much with models this week. Had to sort out the electrician for my light (3 weeks later!), see the g/f's friends (yay!) and generally wrapping up. I took some more pictures of the F-18D with the DSLR to show how bad it was. I think it has gotten worse over time, however taking the Gloss coat "fix" that was recommend to me by Jessica, tomprobert, and Neal. Here be the results. Admitted it is not perfect by any means, but it's a hell of a lot better than it was earlier. This is also after one gloss coat too, gotta put another on to get all the niggly bits. I might actually get to display this model I have bought both models twice now (ModelZone have them in their sale... woot!) I'll get back on to these after New Years. Kind Regards, Dazz
  24. Just order from Retrowings, every time I've ordered from them, their stuff came from Kent. Kind Regards Dazz
