  1. Somehow, this just does not turn me on. I don't mind the paint scheme, but the scale results in a model that you can't conveniently display...and everybody and his kid brother is making an A or B. The C model would be of more interest, as the Orange Hobby kit has a nasty mould line on the inside of the canopy.
  2. I think they'll crank out Duelist combinations. WNW has been very careful to avoid the highest-profile sets of markings in their normal releases.
  3. I'm a little surprised the Se.5 hasn't sold out already.
  4. No idea, but the basic RQ-4B kit is good. Their RQ-4N kit needs significant mods to get it to MQ-4C standard.
  5. Eduard is now making generic PE rigging. Turnbuckle and wire as a single section, anchor as the other section. I'd also suggest drilling the holes in the wings out just a bit. Having said that, my go-to solution has long been .015 wire. Stiff wire, cut to length. It's not perfect, but it works nicely and adds a LOT of strength to the model. The old-timers weren't as stupid as we tend to think.
  6. With the RAF getting P-8s, there might be an opportunity for Airfix to do one in 1/72. RAF, RAAF, USN, and Indian AF markings...
  7. SMS Seydlitz! All we need is an HMS Lion! Battlecruisers, and still more battlecruisers!
  8. Possibly. Having said that, I still think WNW has something up their sleeve. I'm going to do some old-fashioned intelligence estimation here...If we take the price of a kit as a relative indicator of the amount of design work that goes into it, we can make a guess at what WNW can do. Assume a single-engine, single-seat airplane = 1. This means a single-engine 2-seat airplane = 1.5, a multi-engine airplane = 3. WNW's total annual design capability = 6. Now, WNW used up the last of their 2014 design work with the AEG. The postwar Brisfit and DH.9 combined are ~1. The Albatros = 1.5. WNW has used up about half their design capacity. So I'm sanguine about something coming out in March. Be2c, if I were to bet.
  9. Or March. They seem to have the design in a pretty advanced stage. The Fokker D.VII was introduced in March, IIRC.
  10. For what it's worth, the first shipment of both are now sold out. Next shipment expected mid-December.
  11. Eduard is now making PE wires...with turnbuckles. At least something approximating a turnbuckle. I'm planning on using them on my next kit. FWIW, I prefer to rig with actual wire. Yes, it's a PITA to work with in some ways...but it makes a kit much stronger. WNW kits, in particular, need that extra strength.
  12. It's now showing as SOLD OUT. The only D-VII kit still available is the D-VII (Alb).
  13. Oh, I think they'll do French subjects. But WNW has a habit of doing the less well-known aircraft. I don't see them offering a Handley Page bomber for a long time, as I think neither the AEG nor the Felixstowe sold well. Once you crack the $200 barrier, sales drop off. I'm thinking Be2c, would not be surprised to see the Camel as a surprise. Armstrong Whitworth FK.8 or Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter. Hanriot HD.1. DH-5. DH-4, for that matter.
  14. I would not be surprised to see them release the Camel for Christmas. Yes, it's officially a 2016 release...but I have serious doubts about the sales of both the Felixstowe and AEG. But it would not be alone. 2014 seemed to be the Year of German Two-Seaters. I'm betting on something similar for the Allies. A Be2c, Armstrong-Whitworth FK.8, and Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter would be obvious options. And if they do single-seaters, I'd concur that a DH5 would be high priority given the Australian connection. As to French aircraft, a Hanriot HD1 would fit...it's a major combat type that doesn't get a lot of publicity. Precisely the sort of subject WNW likes.
  15. I would not be surprised by a WNW FK.8. It's the sort of subject they like...built in quantity, played an important role, but nobody ever heard about it.
  16. It's a market that has been neglected....along with most of the rest of the First World War.
  17. 1. 1/48 Spitfire XIV. The only available kit is the Academy kit, with significant problems in shape. 2. 1/700 HMS Lion battlecruiser. Or 1/350....that seems to be getting popular these days. Play the Jutland centennial for what it's worth. 3. 1/700 HMS Iron Duke. Same scale comment, 1/350 might sell. 4. 1/700 or 1/350 R-class Zeppelin. 5. RQ-4A Global Hawk. It's the only major UAV NOT kitted...and there are some great marking schemes. 6. Combination kit - P-8A and MQ-4C In 1/72. Do this especially if the UK buys. I could see a Vulcan or Buccaneer, but agree that Airfix needs to go where the competition is NOT.
  18. Meh. What I'd like to see would be a 1/48 Spit XIV, an R-class Zeppelin, and First World War battlecruisers.
  19. Agree 100%. I rig with .015 wire, and it makes a tremendous difference in the strength of the model. Just like the real airplane.
  20. They'll come out when the old version sells out, would be my guess.
  21. Looks like WNW just sold out of the Triplanes. I might just snap up a Brisfit before it's too late.
  22. Well, as of a few days ago, the Spad XIII, Fokker Dr-1, and Nieuport 17 were runaway favorites in the LSM poll. Having said that, I'm morally certain WNW will do other subjects.
  23. Just for entertainment, I thought I'd take a guess at WnW releases for 2015. 2014 was The Year of German Two-Seaters. I'm betting 2015 will be The Year of Allied Two-Seaters. Meaning: 1. Be2c. Fits in perfectly with the Great War Centennial. 2. Armstrong-Whitworth FK8. Perfect WnW subject, it's a major type and nobody hears about it. 3. Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter. Another major 2-seat type. 4. Possibly a Breugret 14. 5. Se-5a with Viper engine. Thoughts?
  24. Let's see....WnW hit one of my top choices with the W12. Probably my top pick would be a 1/350 R-class Zeppelin.
  25. I suspect 2015 will be an Allied year. Be2c, at the least.
