  1. Some further progress. All decals are now on although in hindsight I wish I'd sprayed the yellow stripes on the wings. I've also highlighted the panel lines with a dark oil paint wash. Next up I need to paint all the other 'bits' - wheels, prop etc.
  2. Stunning build and weathering of one of my favourite aircraft!
  3. Thank you for the very kind and positive comments! All the models have been painted with Tamiya acrylics, the RAF Mustang that I'm currently building is the first time I've sprayed a different brand of paint [Xtracrylics]. All the models above have been sprayed with Vallejo Matt Varnish once completed. I had an absolute nightmare with the Jug decals [although this seems to be a common issue with Academy from what I've read online] - this aircraft was supposed to have a black and white checked cowling, but my model is a bit of a mish mash as I just couldn't get certain decals to adhere at all! One area of my modelling that could be improved is adding aerial wires - I just haven't worked out a method of doing this effectively [and tidily!] yet. Once again, thanks for your interest!
  4. Hello everyone, just a few photos of the models I have completed so far - an Academy Thunderbolt and Tamiya Spitfire and FW190. I know they are not perfect, but I'm still pretty pleased with them. Thanks for looking
  5. Things are progressing slowly but surely. I really don't enjoy decalling at the bet of times hence the slow progress! Pleae note that some of the decals are wet in the photo... Thank for looking
  6. Some progress to report. The colours are on - quite chuffed as this is only my second attempt at painting a camoflage scheme. I hope you can see the shading in the photos [maybe not - you'll have to take my word for it!]. I had a minor disaster with the underside but I managed to rescue it. The model has also had a coat of clear and one of the decals applied to the wing [couldn't resist]. I've previously used Micro Sol but used Mr Softer this time - I'm pleased with the result although it takes ages and that isn't good if you're impatient like me!
  7. As promised, here are a few photos of the current state of play. The model has been primed and roughly pre-shaded. I'm going to use Xtracrylics for the camoflage colours, a first for me. For some unbeknown reason, I didn't purchase the Medium Sea Grey for the undersides - can anyone recommend a suitable Tamiya Acrylic [non-aerosol] colour instead? Apologies for the poor quality photos.
  8. I primed it using matt black, then sprayed the green which was my own concotion! It was all sprayed prior to installing it in the wings but it could be done either before or after. I have progressed a little, the airframe has now been primed and pre-shaded. Hopefully I'll have some more photos soon. Thanks for your interest
  9. Very nice. Nice to see the RAF Valley markings too.
  10. Sounds like a good idea! Thanks for the tip
  11. Thank you for your interest and kind comments. Hopefully I will be able to make a bit of progress this weekend! Not looking forward to masking the canopy sections - one of the least enjoyable modelling tasks in my opinion
  12. Hi Colin, They are Eduard seatbelts, probably not correct but good enough for me
  13. Hi Mike, Thanks for your kind comment. I'm thinking of doing the 112 Squadron machine - I just like that sharks mouth!
  14. Hello everybody, As I said in my first post in the 'new members' section, I have been modelling on and off for several years but have only been taking it seriously for the past 2 years - by seriously I mean making more effort to build accurately, taking my time, painting and weathering uing an airbrush etc This will be the fourth model I've built over the last two years [slow progress I know]. So far it's been built box-stock. I stupidly forgot to take photos of the cockpit before installing it into the fuselage. I drilled out the gun barrells for improved [i hope] realism but sausage finger clumsiness struck and I damaged one of them, hence the replacement made from plastic rod. Some photo of progress so far:
