Hawker Hurricane IIC Hasegawa 1/48
matto21 replied to Arkady72's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Absolutely aweome model, I love it! The photography is brilliant too, your photos are always so clear - how do you do it? -
'What's the difference?' I hear you say. Well I've now given the model a coat of Vallejo matt varnish and removed the canopy masking. The tyres and hubs have been weathered to match the rest of the undercarriage too. All that remains are the boring bits - aerial mast, wingtip lights and the front undercarriage doors. Comments welcome! Thanks for looking Matt

British Airtours 707 BEA Colours

That's really excellent! -
Finished the panel line wash, also added a few paint chips and some exhaust staining. The wheel hubs need weathering and toning down and I might add a few more paint chips here and there. I'm pretty pleased with how it's looking and I think it's getting there! Thanks for looking Matt

I think it looks brilliant and [in my opinion] the weathering is spot on

Fantastic!

Thanks for your comment. Managed to fix my camera so took the opportunity to take a few quick pics: I got one!! Thanks for looking Matt

Thanks! I've managed to paint the prop and have started applying a wash to the panel lines. Unfortunately my camera is on the blink and I'm not sure what is wrong with it and if it's fixable..grrr. On the plus side, I got my Eduard Spit [thanks Mike @ MJW Models!] and also managed to get hold of a Tamiya 1/72 Razorback [been after one for ages]. Just need to get them into the stash without SWMBO noticing!

Tamiya 1/72 Bf109E4 with Owl PeilG 4, 10/NJG1

They both look great! -
Just to show that I have made some progress with this recently, the majority of the decals have been applied and the black areas on the wings have been masked and sprayed. I never seem to have much luck with decals and rarely get that truly 'painted on' look that I'm aiming for [although the decals I applied on my Revell 1/72 Me P 1099 were the ones I've been happiest with recently]. They're not bad, but I still feel they could be better. Ironically, I really enjoyed working side by side on 2 models, and I think I'm going to try it again [especially as this model is dragging on a bit] so I'm thinking of starting on something else to kickstart this a bit! Thanks for looking Matt

Thanks for your comment, glad you like it!

Thanks for your comments!

Thanks for the comments, glad the 'alternative' scheme looks ok, I think it suits this aircraft more than Revells suggestion!
-
Thanks all for your kind comments!

Here's my finished model, painted in a different scheme to that suggested by Revell. I enjoyed building this, even though I had a few problems with the fit around the engines especially. Panel lines are dark but I like them that way! Thanks for looking Matt
-
Here's some photos of my progress. Like I said above, I've not followed the painting scheme at all, I've used this as a test for a FW190 I've got in my stash. The pictures don't really show the shading that I've [hopefully] achieved. Thanks for looking Matt

New Tool Jaguar Jaguar A (Kitty Hawk 1:48) - Out of the Box Build Review

That looks awesome! -
Cheers Sernak! Model has been painted today, not as per the instructions I hasten to add! In the process of applying the decals, one of my least favourite tasks then I can get on with finishing it off
-
Your model looks brilliant! I think you already have great skills judging by that photo. I normally paint, gloss, decals, wash then apply matt varnish. Thanks for the tip. £2.50 is a total bargain, I thought £4.49 was a good deal! Some really poor pics of today's progress: Thanks for looking. Matt

Yep Mr Surfacer has been invaluable so far! In fact weight hasn't been as much as a problem as I initially thought, I thought it'd be a definate tail sitter. I read the Hyperscale thread, there's going to be a few exploding models in the future then!

Hi David, the main gear hasn't been attached yet, just plonked on for photographic purposes! As to the colour separation, it's as good as it's going to get - with my current basic airbrush/compressor set up anyway Well chaps, you're obviously not looking hard enough. My lack of modelling skill [or LOMS as I like to call it] is as much a part of everything I build as glue/paint/filler! In fact, LOMS paid a visit this afternoon while I was putting some of the decals on, nervously waiting for them to dry now so I can see how they turn out

Working on the Revell kit has also kick-started progress on this too. Finally managed to get it painted yesterday. Please note, colours may not be accurate, they were mixed from what I had but they look ok-ish to me and I'm happy with how it looks! Thanks for looking Matt

Some progress to report. Assembly is 99% complete - in the photos below the cockpit guns, undercarridge doors and a few other fiddly bits have been left off until I've finished painting. Needed a lot of filling and sanding, especially the engines! Thanks for looking Matt
-
Lovely, I'm currently building one of these so it's really good to see what it looks like when completed!

Thanks for the comments and suggestions - I'm still searching for something to use. Ironically, a few months ago I saw 'something' perfect [didn't buy it because didn't need it at the time]. Now I can't remember what the 'something' was or where I saw it....grrrr! The model has progressed, the fuselage is now closed up and I'm in the process of sanding and filing the seams [Mr Surfacer 500 to the rescue!]. The more I look at the model, the less convinced I am that there's any room to fit any weight [even if I had some], it's tiny!
