  1. Pleased the metal paint worked for you, it can be a tricky ********. Looking good so far, can't wait to see the rest come along.
  2. Fascinating and brilliant story and the model is looking lovely. Can't wait to see the end result.
  3. It looks like it was a light aircraft. MoD have said it isn't one of theirs.
  4. I hope they don't pull a "movie" and completely redesign the craft. In other words TV people, mess with TB2 in ANY way and you'll have to deal with me. Watching Sentinel fire a couple of missiles into her traumatised me.
  5. Brilliant. Can't wait to see how this turns out.
  6. Email today that they're in stock. Should be in my grubby hands by the weekend.
  7. I remember a docu on Discovery or one of those channels about building the Arleigh Burke's at Bath Iron Works, they assemble the sections stick them together and roll the ship out onto a floating drydock and lower it. Also at present if you go on google Earth and find the site you can see the forward end of the new DD1000's
  8. https://navynews.co.uk/archive/news/item/8765 First one ready by 2020 with 13 planned. Contracts are being signed and building to start in 3 years.
  9. http://www.flickr.com/photos/qeclasscarriers/9682950217/ I don't think our new Air defence destroyer is capable of much
  10. Oh my Wallet is going to take a hammering.
  11. According to Navy News the ski jump will be installed soon and she'll get a few coats of paint on.
  12. This would be interesting, plus I need an excuse to buy the 1/32 Hawk.
  13. The only tailplanes are the ones you see.
  14. Good news! The transfers seem to be in pretty good condition. Had a break over the weekend but got the assembly completed (bar the exhausts and a few other bits) Underside all sprayed and the paint is on. Just a bit touching up to do. But couldn't resist putting the first markings on. Only downside is the one I was really worried about is missing part of the "o"
  15. Bit of progress, and lot's of trimming has been done, and a lot more to come. I've had to trim a fair bit from the underside, the wings wouldn't fit and the edges were rounded. Quite a lot of flash along the top and the rear of the tail and you can see there's a bit of a bad fit along the cockpit. Wings aren't glued down that was just a dry run.
  16. Cheers guys, I'll try the spare RAF one's first to see what they're like (there's a spare spot on my laptop lid that hasn't got a roundel on) If they're no good I'll see what I can do. Just cut the two halves off the sprue and painted the tub black. going to try and mod the seats since they look more like couches that Ejection seats. Decided on the wheels up too, cut the slot for the stand, I love how it has a hole to mount it to the wall, I doubt I'd be allowed to do that and put it above my pillow.
  17. I finally got my hands on it. To say I'm terrified of mucking this up is a massive understatement. I don't even know where to begin. *Starts humming 'Sailing'* Box art, quite nice, may have to frame it. So first thoughts? Mainly this is a bl**dy old kit, quite happy I found it on KingKit though and at £14.99 not blowing too big a hole in the monthly budget. I'm not one to put the pilots in the kit but given how basic the cockpit it, I think Biggles and Ginger are going to have to go in. 2 things I fear about this, the first is having to cut the wheels out (although lack of a jacked up front gear sort of means I'd rather have it up (and you do get a nice looking stand for the plane) and those Decals. I've had old one's before (Charles DeGaulle) and they disintegrated before my eyes, and I doubt there's many spares for this floating around.
  18. A B-29 would be nice, since they're slowly moving into the modern Navy how about a RN Merlin, F-35 or even a carrier.
  19. Well I've tried to find a 1:72 Airfix Hurricane but with no success, so I picked up the Revell 1:72 Swordfish. Then I ended up on the internet and bought the Frog 1/72 Phantom , so once that arrives (hopefully tomorrow or Thursday) I can finally get cracking (With Sailor on the TV to set the mood)
  20. Because of the propulsion and power. All the power generators and engines need venting and putting all of that into one uptake would leave the ship with a pretty big weakness. So the options are to take a risk or have more than one. But if you were to do that you'd have one big island like the Invincible class. So they've split them into two smaller islands for both the uptakes and freed up more space on the flight deck. The Americans and French don't have that problem since they're nuclear. Plus you can have FLYCO towards the rear where most of the flight operations will be and have the navigation towards the front for better visibility. Also creates some separation between all the sensors reducing EMI. Plus it looks cool.
