  1. Outside the school gates
  2. It's a shed that was 12' x 4' - But now I've robbed some space from it to form a modelling nook so it's now 8' x 4', room enough for a couple of bikes and gardening paraphernalia.
  3. This New family sized cave... Pooches like it And I've already started knocking it about - Robbed some space from the shed end to give me some more modelling space. First fix lighting completed, now working on the power circuits. It'll be insulated and plastered inside. IanJ
  4. Would rather they were tested on the ground and fail there, rather than at height.... I work in an architectural practice and have recently taken to viewing the online planning meetings that our local authority hold - To paraphrase the chap on the Hindenberg newsreel. "Oh, the stupidity!" (Rant and thread hijack over) IanJ
  5. Er no! Sorry! Saturday was spent doing domestic chores then watching my stepdaughter perform in a dance show, Sunday was spent with dad and best mate at the Coventry show and I didn't want to push my luck with Mrs B by diving into the Iancave when I dropped dad back off in Nottingham. So I went in last night while she was walking one of the flop eared loons. Decals, tracks and a bit of weathering. Might manage a bit more this week, but we're having a new Summerhouse with enlarged Iancave facilities delivered and installed, so I might be up to my armpits in insulation and wiring instead! KR's IanJ
  6. Quick couple of coats of Tamiya XF62 the other night. It's since had a couple of coats of gloss ready for decals. IanJ
  7. Hi all, Conscious that I'd volunteered to produce something for this GB, I've taken time out of working on my 1/72nd HMCS Snowberry, to get at least one over the line. Only taken about an hour and a half of my life so far.... KR's IanJ
  8. Decided to have a go at weathering the hull while the model was still managable. AK interactive washes, weathering pencils and Tamiya powders - I didn't go too mad with it as I wasn't sure how I'd remove it! IanJ
  9. It's not the Binarish, it's the "Best Regards"....
  10. Naughty! You know how the mods feel about swearing....
  11. Hi all, Won't be finished I'm afraid - I keep finding things that I think I should do something about. Here's an example, the radar housing, not enough windows so needs an extra mullion to divide each facet up. Better! Now to fit the glazing.... Rats! Needs better fitting glazing as well. KR's IanJ
  12. @Jamie @ Sovereign Hobbies @Duncan B Gentlemen, many thanks for your assistance, you've probably saved me from ruining my project. Might just go with a couple of coats of Future instead, as I have that in the armoury already. KR's IanJ
  13. Hi, Hopefully @Jamie @ Sovereign Hobbies might be able to answer this one? Have used Colourcoats enamels (Nice product BTW) throughout my project so far and am getting closer to the weathering stage for which I have a number of Mig/Ammo enamel washes. These are enamel based so I'm aware that I need to use an acrylic sealer first to protect the base colours - to this end I've picked up a spray can of Simoniz Acrylic Lacquer to spray over. However, in the small print, it says not to use it on Alkyd based paints... Google tells me that enamels can be alkyd based, but just wanted to be sure what Colourcoats are based on before I ruin my HMCS Snowberry. TIA IanJ
  14. Is it my imagination, or are those Lewis guns on top of the bridge? IanJ
  15. Running out of time and still hundreds of parts on the sprues. One problem I've found with the kit is that there are quite a lot of parts that are tapered in order for them to release from the moulds. As this picture shows, you end up with a locker that is slightly hexagonal in plan. This then has to be sanded flat. And repeat..... Decks are mostly on and the superstructure is coming together though. IanJ
  16. @PlaStix - currently working on my Flower in the MBGB.... As soon as I'm clear of that build there are plans for a quick 1/76 build that I'm hoping I'll have time for in the last 2 weeks IanJ
  17. Hi, Been a bit quiet on the modelling front as Mrs Bonhoff ordered me to get the Iancave sorted - We're having a new summerhouse installed in its place and we'll need to move the cave to a temporary location while the base is being laid. You may have noticed from the above photos that it's a bit cramped in there so I've spent the last couple of weekend emptying the contents and putting them in my lock up garage elsewhere in the village - Mrs B has at least given me permission to hang on to my paints and tools, I've relocated the spray booth so I now have a whole desk to work on instead of an A4 sized patch so am now back on with the Corvette. Last night was spent painting the wheelhouse interior, non slip paths on the decks and installing portholes in the starboard side - Productivity should have improved as I don't have to pack it away each night which I had to do working indoors. Nothing really glued together at the moment but it looks like progress to me.... KR's IanJ
  18. AFAIK - Cromwells served in Korea. As for kits - The Airfix one was a nice simple enjoyable build, but 1/76 rather than 1/72nd IanJ
  19. So - Went to see Skunk Anansie at the O2 Academy in Leicester last night. It was, without doubt, an awesome gig - And I'm always happy to hear the opening riff to this masterpiece. Turn it up loud! IanJ
  20. Said the collective Geralds (Seek out Gerald the Gorilla on YT - It'll make more sense then)
  21. There's apparently 1005 parts in this kit, and I still have so many on the sprues! Managed to shift a few last night though - 26 depth charges built and made a start on the bridge. Kind regards IanJ
  22. More paint has gone on - These are the WEM Colourcoats WA Green and Grey that I purchased when I first got the kit. Get the other side done this week, get the portholes in, paint the backs of them black then I can get the deck on and the hull closed up. KR's IanJ
  23. Kit cost me £39.99 - Think I've spent £30 on 4 cans of white primer so far (Might get used elsewhere) £30 on the GLS parts and £20ish on the Colourcoats paint and thinners. IanJ
