Kamag TowBear aircraft tug build
wagoneer replied to richellis's topic in Work In Progress - Vehicles
Really nice conversion, goes to show that 'toys' can be utilised to create stunning results. I found myself taking pictures of one of these at Frankfurt am Main airport last month as I really like these tugs. Don't forget to make a rearview camera to go with the on-dash monitor! -
That's lovely, a superb finish. Brushes rule!

Oh beautiful! I'm off to look at your build thread now so I can see how you achieved that terrific weathering. -
Brilliant! What I love about this forum most is the learning experience of seeing then reading about aircraft etc., that I never knew existed. Having seen Magna models in the press, can you say if it went together well, would it be suitable for an intermediate modeller like me? You've made a great model and I guess made it look easy.

Blimey! I had to pop my sunglasses on to view that! What a brilliantly clean build, thank you for sharing. -
Oh that's really nice, jolly clean build too. Your photography shows it off beautifully, I especially like the walk around shots.

Wow! That was quick, even for a snap together. Very nice too, your son has done a great job. I can only get mine interested for 5 minutes at a time. Remember when kits came with stands? I miss those. Yours is great, not so many of us build in flight models these days it seems.

Top skills! Was he injection moulded?.........

Heinkel He115 seaplane

There's a brief piece on page 10 of the September 2012 issue of Scale Aircraft Modeller about one of these being hauled out of a fjord in Norway. Having never seen one, two come along at once! I like your presentation of a well built plane, especially as loads of us cut our teeth on those kits many years ago it's great to see one built now. -
Lovely pictures, thank you for sharing. I wanted to go but couldn't afford the £82.50 to get the family in!

Cool! Brilliant link. Looking through I actually remember building the beach buggy in the late 70's. -

Very nice, fiddly aren't they! Having done a few paper models I find them harder than plastic but at least you can print new parts if you mess up. I currently have a huge boat on the go from Digital Navy. When I say currently I mean started ages ago and still unfinished....... -
Already enjoying this build. My son is making one and I keep interfering, trying to get him to detail, paint it and assemble with absolute perfection when what he really wants to do is build it his way. Your build makes me jealous of how much fun can be had from just getting on with it and building a kit from the box like I used to before I bought magazines or well before the internet arrived. Please don't think I'm trying to make your build look simple, I think it's brilliant and I sometimes think I've lost touch with why I build models. Superb, looking forward to the end result.

"The Homecoming" storyboard just about finished.

That's beautiful, a great demonstration of how grass roots early flying was too. An old friend of mine showed me a picture of her German father in the early 20's on something very similar that he and his friends had built. It looked scary but did fly. Those early pioneers really were brave men. -

That's a great truck Ratch. I never knew Airfix did trucks in this scale, time for some googling! -
I've got a set of Revell wide blades if you want them.

Oh I see. I didn't realise that was a moving wing, a bit out of my era comfort zone. Thanks for the lesson.

This is one of the things I love about forums, having just looked up HMS Nairana and read the wikipedia page on it, fascinating stuff. Before seeing your build I never even realised there was such a thing as a carrier born Hurricane. Thanks. -

Looks almost done already and very nicely too. Excuse my ignorance, but what period/theatre do the markings represent? -
Cold War Aircraft Modeller - Issue 1 Further Content Revealed!

I think you're extremely brave to do what you're doing, both in leaving a job (for the very best reasons) and opening up your new ideas to critique. One's confidence in decisions over style, layout and colour can be seriously knocked by what others say and yet it's their very input that helps mould what they want to see. After all, they are your audience and need to be entertained in the way they want. Your subject matter is not one I've ever dabbled in, but the magazine/journal will offer me a taste of said subject so I'm keen to see a copy. One thing that always leaves me wanting more is the length of most articles. Obviously in a monthly title, there's only so much room for editorial to cram in amongst the essential advertising with a given page count. Do you see your publication being aimed more at the serious reader/builder who would welcome more in-depth articles, possibly split over two or more issues? Kel -
I wasn't expecting a float plane! A nice choice and it's also refreshing to read the words 'brush painted' too.
-
Nice. I keep seeing pre-shading now I've come back to modelling and every time I see it I wonder how hard it is to do, that bullet must be bitten! It's interesting to see that you've done the wings and fuselage separately, why is that?

wagoneer replied to wkennerley's topic in Work In Progress - Vehicles
OK Wayne, here's some info. Follow this link http://www.mediafire...arger_build.pdf to a PDF scan of the article. Below are two jpgs of the drawings to follow. Interior roll hoop first. This is actual size, dimensions in the pdf. Push bar. Again, actual size redrawn from the article. Happy building! Kel -
That's a nice clean finish you have achieved, might have to get down to ModelZone (again) to see if they have any left. My own car is that colour, you can't beat a Broom Yellow Cinquecento!

Yes, no problem, I just found it from January 2002! That means the kit has been half started a while......If you can wait until Monday, I'll scan the diagram plus the whole article, it was split over two issues and covers how to build the car and pose it in a diaroma. Kel
