Oh superb. Love the suzie cable details too, a brilliantly clean build.
-
Whoa! That's the biggest train I ever saw. Nice job there. What scale is that?
-
Superb job Roy. I've built a few Yanks over the years but never that one, the later 'Judge' now sadly long gone but never the early and in my opinion, the best, GTO.
-
Nicely crisp. You just can't beat a good clean build with perfect paint.
-
Very nicely crafted. I didn't realise the law had changed, when was that? Reminds me of when I made a 1:1 scale bazooka from a card tube.........

As a practising commercial artist/illustrator working digitally, anything that gets the result I need quickly is good. There's no right or wrong. I'm sure if Leonardo Da VInci had had the use of a camera, he'd have used it! I work from photographs, tracing effectively, to create product line drawings or vehicles. I do deviate from reality and as your eye is the ultimate judge, as long as it looks right, it probably is.

Finished 1/12 Tamiya ZX-14 Special Colour Edition
wagoneer replied to TheJackal's topic in Ready For Inspection - Vehicles
Super clean build there. Green and Kawazaki, there's no other colour! If you continue to build that well, the next one will be out of this world. Having just unearthed an old Tamiya Ducati that I build about 10 years ago, perhaps it's time to try another. -
Katie's latest build finisher and at Yeovilton.

Well done Katie, and well done Dad for not touching too. I find it really difficult to let my son build anything without saying 'try this or try that'. My hands should be tied together when he's building to stop me. These skills are very useful in future life, the real tangible hands on 3 dimensional world we live in seems to be viewed through a computer by so many. It's much better to get involved and actually make something. -
Yikes that sounds fiddly, especially at this scale. Very impressive and clean.

Goodness me! What a huge amount of stuff. I'm always amazed that there are people out there making these fine extras for kits. The interest and research required is amazing too.
-
Gosh that looks fine. How you've not bent any of the metalwork is beyond me.
-
Ha! The real one looks more like a model than the model one! Great execution, I like your weathering too, very realistic.

Dear old Dickie, buried just a few miles from here in glorious Dartford. Nicely made kit that, it looks like cast iron too.
-
If you can give me the diameters of each dial, I can draw them from the picture I found and send you a print or decal.

Great, thanks Smudge, I guess I was a victim of the perpetuation of names there. Doesn't detract at all from the brilliant build of Honeybee's modern version. In the book, the Phoebe currently has a load of smaller boats in tow on the way back to Blighty. Not far now chaps.

I'm currently reading 'Spirit' by Alan Pearce which is a fictional take woven around the evacuation of Dunkirk. One of the vessels that features is the Phoebe, it's great to see what she looked like, especially in the form of a beautifully made model. Thank you for sharing. PS - if you fancy a read, it's a very engaging book.

P-51D Mustang 'My Achin' Back' - Airfix 1/72
wagoneer replied to Sundown's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Alclad aluminium, I have some of that, never tried using it. It came with some chrome which I have tried and loved. Must do me a natural finish soon. Thanks. As for the canopy, I'm guessing you've polished it extensively to get that finish. -
P-51D Mustang 'My Achin' Back' - Airfix 1/72
wagoneer replied to Sundown's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Beautiful, absolutely beautiful. As I'm building a 1/72 spit (the first in many years) I can really appreciate the effort required to build that well with such a small kit. What silver/airframe colour is that? -
That's enormous! Almost enough plastic there to represent my entire 30 years of models. A great looking build too, the overall black is superbly done, not a flaw in sight and so even.
-
Oh superb. I might have to wrestle the one I bought my daughter back!
-
That looks challenging, I'm looking forward to the ready for inspection shots. Just an idea for painting the raised yellow detail on the wheel spokes, you could try pad printing with paint. Use a fairly dense foam block, dab it in some paint, wipe most of that off then gently press your foam pad against the spoke detail. Some of the paint will stick. It might take a few applications to get the desired density, but maybe worth a go.

Supermarine Spitfire Mk.24 1/72 Airfix
wagoneer replied to Redboost's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
1/72..........you must have nano bots for tools! Incredible detail and finish throughout. -
Very nice, a great finish too. Huge respect to anyone that's able to make a 1/72 model. I'm struggling to see the parts these days!
-
That's a good reference site. Bookmarked, thank you.

Lovely job binks. I'll have to show my son, he's building one with me, very slowly.... I especially like the way you've finished the exhausts, it makes a real change to chrome.
