That's really rather well used, but it looks brilliant! Have you thought about using some white decal paper behind yours or even printing direct onto white? That would make the colours bright and opaque. If you did use white behind what you printed, trim it slightly smaller than the colour part so no white shows at the edges. Wag.

ooh lovely! I build one of these as a stock station wagon many years ago (long gone now) so I'm looking forward to seeing how you make it as it should be.
-
The question is - do you want to build it?
-
Oh cool! My son is building the same, he'll be inspired to see your build and I'm going to get him the Falcon canopy you've used too. He's had real trouble with the undercarriage (being a bit heavy handed trimming parts off the sprue mostly) but it's coming along.

A-10C Thunderbolt 1/48 Monogram (converting)

Anyone who makes individual turbo fan blades deserves to have his thread followed. Amazing! -
Lovely squiggles there! Is your airbrush adjustable for spray pattern or is it just by changing the nozzle size as you say? I ask as I've been saving for a new one. I know it's way past time here but having been reading some railway modelling magazines whilst on holiday, the railway boys use a static puffer to make their grass stand up when it's applied. I've never tried it (yet) so can't share any experience but thought it worth a mention.

Frustrating isn't it. Wanting to build exactly what comes out of the box as per the instructions then getting lots of 'I'll just...' moments. Oh for the innocence of that first ever kit we build as kids. Having said that, your CV is looking rather nice. I built the Heller offering 20 odd years ago for a customer to match his own car and remember it being a joy to build. Wag

This is definitely one of the best threads of the year. Your demonstration of weathering is excellent and has inspired me to try. A colleague of mine designed a radio controlled 'plane, created CAD drawings (he qualified in 3D design) and had a local model shop laser cut the parts. Your 3D printing is a more modern version of this and quite interesting. I wonder, is the very good and free Trimble (ex google) Sketchup a suitable CAD programme for this process? It's a breeze to use for beginners. I must investigate!

Looks good so far. If you've got sausage fingers, then it doesn't show! The first kit I ever build was a P-51, The Dooley Bird, probably from Matchbox.

Gosh! I googled OcCre kits having seen this. What an amazing range they have. Not for the feint hearted or a moth riddled wallet are they!

Oh Lordy... It's only a Zoukei Mura Uhu

Wow! I've just looked at their website and a bit of the blog from one of the developers of the kit. What an amazing model that is. Your build is definitely one to follow.- 73 replies

I really like that, especially the scenery. The thing with old abandoned cars is that I want to rescue and restore them! -
That's a nice way to compile a 'set' of aircraft. Displaying on the clear bases with wheels up would be fantastic too, a real memory. Those rub-down books were fantastic, my parents got fed up with me rubbing characters onto all manner of household surfaces..... That leopard over Africa icon appears in 'Flying Colours' (1990 edition) attributed to BF109K-4 of I/JG 27, Rheine, December 1944.

1/12 Revell Shelby Mustang - opening doors

The usual method of scoring with the back of a blade works OK. Clean up the edges and if necessary sort any gaps out with a thin strip of plasticard. It's the done thing over here www.modelcarsmag.com Hinges from bent wire are popular too. The site's worth a look as there's plenty of action there. EDIT: For a lesson in how to cut stuff up and make hinges, take a look at this thread from the legendary Bill Geary http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=61640&hl= Wag -
C47 Italeri First kit for many years
wagoneer replied to Rodders154's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Hi Rodders, So many models and not so much time, this is one on my list to do and you've inspired me to get on with it. Your build looks neat so you should be pleased. If you've not put anything over the top of your decals then you might rescue the silvering by using some Humbrol Decalfix to re-set them. Humbrol say it can eliminate silvering when decals are applied over matt surfaces. Wag -
What an epic read! I'd have stamped on it after page one. You really have an enormous pot of patience to hand and I can only bow to your determination to see this unusual subject finished and on the shelf. Wag

I said to the lady who served me that Modelzone was the only reason for visiting Bluewater, she replied that a lot of men said that, to which I replied - and I bet they're all middle aged....she smiled in reply.

I've just returned from Bluewater. The shop is looking quite empty, few plastic kits, a few trains and some diecasts remain and the man from Scalextric was there taking stock away. The two staff were upbeat though what with Christmas not being far away and the ever present seasonal work that Bluewater has. Whilst the pickings were slim, I did come away with an Academy ME-262 which I've been wanting to build for a good few years. There was a singular Airfix 1/12 Bentley there for just £62 which whilst very tempting would have prompted an ear bending from Mrs W.

Gosh you are prolific! The cleanliness of your building is inspirational. The old adage of treating each part as a model in itself really seems to work for you.
-
If you're Chipmunk build was your first foray back into the hobby, these Provosts are going to be amazing. The bar you set is rather high! Go on then, get cracking!

Gosh! It's nearly a year since we started this thread. Needless to say other commitments have got in the way of my modelling but we're back on track again. More to follow. S5, that looks like the same kit, there are a few options in ours. You're safe with your sprue tree, my lawyers won't be after you

That's a nice diorama setting and the rusted panel work is great. I wonder if the pick-up's owner is still in the can?
-
Wow Kallisti, That's a cracking start. The photos show the area just how I remember it too. My Grandad worked in one of the factories for a time (in the 60's I think) but even I can remember the general coating of grey dust that covered everything along the Dartford - Gravesend road. I was lucky enough to visit the Lafarge Cement Works at Northfleet last year (the site where Top Gear helped drop a chimney on the reasonably priced car). It's amazing how contained the whole process is now. For your decals, if you're using Photoshop, the correct typeface for the blinds and other standard text is available online. I'm following your build with interest, especially as I've got one to do to.

That's a stunningly crisp, well finished and photographed model. Perhaps you should see if there are any vacancies at Fabergé...

Hello all, I messaged Fritag with a drawing I did having read through his amazing thread. He was adamant that I should share it with you all so here's my rendition of the FSS logo. Being a commercial artist has it's merits and re-creating things like this is one bonus. It kind of makes up for not having a great deal of time to make models. You might have spotted some of my work over on the vehicle section as I've made decals for a few people making the Revell Routemaster. This particular thread has been exceptionally interesting as it's great to read all the experiences of flying the real thing, especially for those of us who cam only dream of even sitting in a cockpit, let alone actually flying! Wagoneer PS - an edit - use the above if you want it, a bit of sharing never hurt!
