  1. Some more work done to this over the past few weeks, I need to crack on with some models for the Gaydon show in June and decided to kick this over the finishing line before getting stuck in to the other 3 builds I have going,

Decals on, glazing done and a load is sheeted and in the body.

Next is to do the rear reg plate when I can find the safe place I put the slaters letters 😬

    detail the cab interior

  2. The chassis would be Mercedes, and the body by a separate company so you could take the Opel bus body, remove the bonnet and put a Mercedes bonnet and grill on. To be correct you would use the Mercedes chassis, lengthened to fit under the bus body or just swap the Opel wheels for Mercedes ones.

I saw your request for Concord decals. I searched high and low for the Revell set I 'knew' I had but no joy. I must have passed them on to someone on here. I did find a White 144 British Midland set if that's any good to you?

thanks, I need BA decals as when I was jetting off last summer I snapped some pics of Concorde dumped at Heathrow but…..

There was a Volvo truck parked under the wing and I want to model it 😉

    Fantastic work! 👌

The old trucks have alot of character, although I wouldn't fancy my chances with no power steering and a crash box! 😬

    Keith 😁

I know what you mean, I was annoyed my climate controlled cab felt a little warm the other day 😬

Do enjoy a drive or ride in an old truck but hats off the the chaps who drove these across the U.K. and even as far as the Middle East back in the old days

  5. It’s been a while since I updated this thread. Been working away at this model, it is now 80% painted, the joy of insulating and having some heating in my shed!

Chassis, finished most bits on this now, I completely forgot about the spare wheel so I’m building this now, will paint and add later, same with the intermediate prop shaft. Some weathering added to start me off as it is a working lorry.

cab, is also painted and I have ordered the decals for the cab. Need to crack on with some details, will be a satin finish so need to add the decals, weather and satin varnish before glazing.

Body, have the wood for the internal floor to fit and add. It’s all painted and has had the rope hooks added. Wheel arches are ready to fit also.

    Anyway some pictures!

  6. I think if you haven’t owned a Mini, and I mean a real Mini not the BMW then your not a real driver.

loved mine especially with the cooper bits I got from a scrap yard to make it look like a cooper.

Got a few Minis in the stash there is a Ukrainian company does bits for these, think they do an engine 🤔

    Very nicely done! :clap2:

I'm curious about regulator lighting. On a US tractor, I'd expect (3) clearance lights on the cab root. Is that the role of the 2 white lights on the upper cab corners?

Can’t help in US regulations sorry

  8. The absolute best advice I can give is go down the truck stop or motorway services, find the same model truck your building and ask the driver if you can snap away. 90% will be happy to let you, some will tell you to go somewhere.

I often do my pics at shows or when I’m doing a photo shoot for a company.

look at the pics, I use all sorts of stuff, I rip open old charging leads, or any old cables I can get my hands on and have a collection of different thicknesses to pick.

don’t get hung up on the details, you don’t have to chase every wire and pipe.
I do every model in 3 parts. I wire the back lights, axle, suspension and brakes and run the wires in bundles so they sit under the 5th wheel.
I then make some bundles of cables and run them along the chassis from

under the 5th wheel to under the catwalk or under the cab. This bundle is normally a H shape 2 long bundles to run along the chassis, with some to run across a cross member.
finally the engine and front (headlights) if I glue the cab down I don’t wire the engine as it’s not seen and glue the end of the loom inside the C of the chassis rail.

Euro trucks that haven’t been painted since leaving the factory will have mat black looms, so paint and add once the chassis is painted your chosen colour.

if it’s had a chassis re-paint it will all be the chassis colour 👍

  9. You can’t get an off the shelf kit. MODELMAKERSHOP in Australia did years ago and Revell did an ‘electronic’ American kit but they are old and hard to find now.

I did this using micro soldered LEDs off eBay and there is a twin aaa battery box hidden in the diesel tank.

its much easier do on a custom truck when you can hide the wires behind skirts and chassis plates. All wires are soldered together under the cab and main power lines to and from the battery box are run along the chassis and made to look like power and airlines

I’m building a second unit with lights and it ‘should’ be at Gaydon in June

  10. Has anyone got  British Airways decals in 1:72, ones from the Concorde will be great.

I only need the British Airways parts as they are for a couple of other models so the spares from the sheet please.

I need a few  and possibly some 1:144 if you have some spares from builds.

they are for some vehicles I’m doing in BA colours 👍

  11. 1:24 builds now:

H Essers MAN TGX with working lights

Italeri DAF XF Schoni. The cab is off an old model with some refreshment, Chassis is new and modified to be a correct Low Liner spec
