  1. Always more than one, ya gotta have something to work on while parts are sticking or paint drying. Unless, of course, I find a new stash candidate which never makes the stash, but hits the workbench in a fit of excitement, then it could be three in various states of bodgery............ Rog
  2. Yaaaay ! Ced's back ! and all's well with the world. Good to have the sites professional "fnaaar"-er back on duty and the rest of us can have a rest. Thought you were showing us your new drive........ Rog
  3. Nice one, @Markh-75, I built this kit a couple of years back, and it still stands up well on the shelf, dust aside ! You're right, it's a big beast, well detailed and certainly a lot of kit for your money.......and you got it at the right price too. Excellent build ! Rog
  4. What a magnificent example of the late Mryia, Mark @Kiwikitbasher and the photos belie the problems you may have had with it. As a fellow spinal sufferer, also four sessions under the knife, I share and sympathise with the ongoing discomfort of needing to stand for a modelling session such as this would have entailed. Any problems are not reflected in the model ! Rog
  5. That's a stunning result, Bertie, and the various widths of plankage are hardly noticeable unless you look hard. Of course, to you, they stand out like the proverbial dogs, 'cos you know they're there. Good luck with the other side. I was going to commiserate on your vision problems, but since you request no sympathy, I'll just say "eye-eye" sir.......... Rog
  6. Now I've seen everything !! Thought BMF was pretty effective, but snakeskin !! Takes it to a whole new level ! Excellent representation of the prototype, @Fuad Rog
  7. @81-er James, ya reckon you can reduce your photo size ? There's something in FAQs in the Home page about ideal photo sizes. Thanks, Rog
  8. This just gets better and better.......a silk purse out of......a faded silk purse !! Tried to build Italeri's Harley WLC into a replica of one I owned in the 60's.........but never came close to anything like this ! As others have said, stunning workmanship ! Rog
  9. Yep, use a tea light and slowly turn a length of sprue in the flame until you see it become soft. Then slowly stretch each end and watch the plastic thinning itself. With practice, it can become as thin as a human hair. Lots of stuff on Utube if my description is confusing. Rog
  10. Fine cotton, stretched sprue, fishing line, fine wire, ......... Depends how many aircraft you want to apply aerials to. I use Ezi-line, 100 feet for not very much, last ya a lifetime. HTH Rog
  11. As a lover of all things "flying boat", gotta say this is a magnificent brace of models from the era when the US was girding itself for future wartime operations. The Sikorski looks like it borrowed its nose gun turret from a B-10 bomber ! A flying boat I was only vaguely aware of. Great subjects, great builds, great photography, great historical detail, GREAT !! Rog
  12. This really is looking very nice, Bertie, and not a particularly small model, what ? 15" ? Not too fiddly then ! Looking forward to seeing the planking on t'other side. Rog
  13. This just gets better and better !! Shades of the Two Ronnies ! Oh, forgot, they're both shades now.....very sad !
  14. There are so many potential "fnaaaaar"s in this build that those of a smutty inclination among us could have a field day ! However, I won't sully this fascinating build with my own baser instincts, simply having a quiet snigger to myself and then getting on with the more important business of appreciating proper modelling. Rog
  15. Hello Bertie, Late as usual, but thoroughly enjoying your first attempt at maritime modelling. Strangely enough I've been considering having a go at it myself, becoming a bit bored with cockpits, wheel wells, camouflage and the like and keen to have a crack at something like this. Something similar to the craft you are building might be suitable especially as I qualify as a beginner [of boats] and no more than an intermediate modeller of other subjects. Added to that, who could fail to be impressed with such a pretty craft ! So I 'll have a look at Chris' website and check out something suitable, at the same time cheering your progress and sympathising with your struggles. Your thread is providing much inspiration ! Onward 'n' upward ! Roger the Cabin Boy
  16. For tiny pieces of PE like control levers and the like, I've had more success with white glue, or Glue 'n' Glaze, or any similar cockpit glue. It seems to provide a buffer against knocks and handling that CA does not. HTH. Rog
  17. What's the white AEW [?] aircraft in Israeli markings - a new one on me. Rog
  18. Rotten lot'a sods !! Pork pies ! cold meat ! cheese ! pickles ! Now I'm bloody starving and if I hoe into that lot at 10pm, I'm not going to get a wink of sleep !! Perhaps I'll try it anyway......... Rog
  19. That's come up a treat, @Stew Dapple and I admire your tenacity in assembling what I've found to be a very fiddly kit, quite unsuited to my sausage fingers and Mr Magoo eyesight. Your figure painting sets the model off nicely. The passenger is certainly gonna come off second best when he fires the m/g ! Think I'll stick to the Esci/Italeri models in 1/9 scale - parts that I can see........ Rog
  20. Just waded all the way through all 6 pages of your double builds, @Chief Cohiba, thinking what a great job you were making of them both, especially the Roden[t] kit which I've sworn never to build. Lo 'n' behold......a deceased Camel !! What a sad ending to such a potentially optimistic result. I share your pain, but have to remind myself, when things go badly wrong, that life is too short to lose sleep over bits of plastic. Onwards and upwards with the Strutter ! Rog
  21. Oh GREAT !! Another @hendie build, and another biplane too !! I'm in !! Rog
  22. OK, sorry, note the asterisk in my reply post, 3rd line, the bracketed bit between "that" and "the emotions". Makes sense ? Nup ! A/c aka auto correct doesn't like the term "p/r/i/c/k/s" and substitutes its own translation. When I suggested in my edit where it should go, it again substituted its own translation for p/i/s/s/, the term I used. This is all contributing to stuffing up and confusing an excellent thread........ Must be bed-time !! Rog
  23. Well, it was a word that started with "p" and which meant the same as the watered down a/c substitute......... Wasn't THAT one !! :o}
  24. We're being taken over !! Auto in-correct won't let me use the penultimate word in my edit .........!
