  1. I've built the KPGC10 kit, rfi on here somewhere. And it's a stunning kit.

I also have both those Tamiya BNR32 kits part started so will watch along.

Again I plan on doing what you seem to be doing and going for the hot skyline of each Gen. Or maybe you're just sticking to the GT-R's?

My plan is a kit of each of these:

    S54B

    KPGC10

    KPGC110

    KHGC210

    KHR30 & KDR30

    KHR31

    BNR32

    BCNR33

    BNR34

    DBA-R35

    Hi Nick,

Good thing that you have sorted your tyres =)

I used this pic when i made the tyres of my onw

But i do not know if these where Dunlop or Michelin.

Nice looking car you have already done =)

Going by the text at the bottom of the picture. I don't know the language so can't actually read it but it looks like the top tyres are Michelin (Michelinit) and the ones below are Dunlop (Dunloplila)

Was it my imagination or did I not see any Metros there yesterday?

There were a few 6r4's in the hanger in the morning, didn't see any on the stage though. And one was on the back of a trailer later in the day. A lot of cars didn't make it back out for the second running. The Sunny GT guys sheered their wheel studs on the first run. One escort was having it's rear axle taken out and the Sapphire Cosworth a friend of my friend was using needed new brakes after the first run. It was carnage lol.

  4. Also on the way back from Race Retro yesterday I saw a car that whilst my friend told me the make, I've only just found out the model. It was a Gilbern Invader Estate in red on an old K reg.

I see where the Reliant Scimitar got it's looks now lol.

  5. I was at Race Retro yesterday too. Very nice selection. And very impressed with the F2 kit cars out on the stage, first time seeing an Escort RS2000 Maxi too. And got to see Ari Vatanen hooning an Ex McRae Subaru Legacy. If you're there today and see the damage, you know why 😉

Sadly Marku Alen wasn't able to make yesterday :(

Always wondered what one would have looked like if it was built to the WRC 2wd "Kit Car" rules and if so would be called an Austin Maxi Maxi...

Austin Maxi F2? Kit Car? I think only the French teams called their F2 Kit cars Maxi's. Although I think the Escort RS2000 Kit Car might have been called the Maxi too lol.

  7. @keefr22 If I mix enough to fully cover the body I can have it back to bare plastic within a couple hours though I usually leave it a day and just rise under cold water whilst scrubbing with a toothbrush. Leave to dry, and sand with 400 grit to remove any remaining chemical residue. And I agree the plastic after a brake fluid bath does give a good key to the surface, I don't even use primer if I've had to strip a body back lol.

And @mbdesignart you can drink if you like, I would recommend having 999 on speed dial first though ;)

Had a delivery to Market Harborough today (plus other places down that way)

On the way, on a driveway on Abbey lane in Leicester was a blue Austin Maxi.

Near Stoughton road in Oadby was an Austin Montego in showroom condition!

And, on the way back, South of Lincoln, a brown Triumph Stag on wire wheels.

I live around the corner from Abbey lane and I've never seen an Austin Maxi. I must investigate lol.

  9. I posted this in the other thread before I realised it was duplicated and that this one actually has replies, so in case that one gets deleted I'll repeat myself lol.

This looks like a stunningly detailed kit. But everytime I look at those rear lights I just can't help thinking, it looks like a little matchbox toy. At this scale they should look life like and real. :(

Why do you mix IPA with the brake fluid Ashley, I've always found the fluid works perfectly as a paint stripper when used neat?

    Keith

Brake fluid on its own takes too long and there's some people that say it damages the plastic, making it brittle. If you mix in IPA 50/50 then it strips the paint faster, reducing any risk to the plastic. I've found that IPA is good at softening the paint, so the brake fluid can remove it quicker.

I still haven't got round to testing the Belkits Chrome in the stuff 😔 lol
