Really nice work. How did you paint the bombs? It looks like you managed to achieve some variations in the colour without it being too noticeable. Well done.

And there was me just about to start my 1/72 Sea Fury. Never joined a GB before so I'll give it a go.

Nice job. This is a great little kit, I'm building a couple myself.

The bug has bitten deeply. I am planning on working my way through the entire sheet, starting with WZ*C which would go nicely with the kit's WZ*T, then the other Watts equipped Spits. The others after that. If that's not enough, since finishing my first kit last year I have also acquired another Mk I which I'm going to build with the Rotol prop and 3D decals, a 1/72 Mk IXc , Seafires F XVII and F46/ F47, an F22/24, an Eduard Mk IXc, all in 1/48 and an Eduard 1/144 Mk IXe double combo. Somewhere in the post is a Sea Fury and a Sea Hawk.

Progress has been slow to non-existent at times since the baby arrived and there has been little time to post any new photos but here is where the project currently stands. The plan has expanded from making a single early Mk I to building several so a second Mk I has been started. In a moment of boredom I cut the pilot's door out in order to show the cockpit off a little more. This spur of the moment decision was immediately regretted as the whole point of making the early Spitfire was to show off the flat canopy. Also, I was a bit concerned that I might have commited myself to something that was beyond my ability, especially as the fuselage was already glued together and the wings on but it seemed to be ok. Later I decided to see if I could take off the wheel bulges on top of the wings. After a bit of cutting, scraping and wet sanding I ended up with this. So I did it to the other one as well. Next time I must remember to do any surgery before everything is stuck together. Night and white undersurfaces. I had a go at pre-shading but I was either to subtle with it or too heavy handed with the top coat. Either way it doesn't really show but the final result is still quite pleasing. First one will be made up using the kit scheme and decals but I will be using Iliad Design's Pre-war Spitfires decals for the others.

I remember making one of these as a boy. I loved anything with a shark mouth on the front. This one looks great, well done.

I enjoyed the WIP on this one and it's nice to see it finished. You forgot to paint the crowbar red, though. Only kidding, truly outstanding work.

I took my 4 year old son to the Cosford airshow and he has not stopped talking about the Red Arrows since. When I saw this starter set in my LMS with a quid off I bought it for him. He liked cutting the parts off and painting but glueing and decals were less interesting. I guessed this when half way through he said, "I'm bored now" and wandered off to watch CBeebies. He soon came back when it was time to paint it red. Here we have a diorama of an interesting time in Red Arrows history when planes were towed by Spiderman Transformers.

Could the HB tail be swapped with the Airfix one?

Cheers, guys. I took my dad to the Cosford airshow and, being ex-RN, he was very excited about the Sea Fury display so I thought it might be nice to put these side by side for him.

I know but it is the one in common use therefore an "English" word as opposed to any other.

If the manufacturer deliberately leaves out an important part of the marking scheme and the reviewer tip toes around it by using a foreign word instead of the English one then it would suggest there is an issue here. That german planes during WWII had swastikas on them is a matter of historical fact and by calling them by less familiar, foreign words or avoiding them altogether we are in danger of trying to censor the past. So the meaning isn't really the same if we use words to distance ourselves from the truth.

Are we now so afraid of swastikas that we can't even mention them?
