  1. Hmmm, I'm not sure you have enough Spitfires. Maybe a few more, just to be on the safe side.
  2. I would definately be interested in a T Class sub as my father served on a number of them, including HMS Tabard, HMS Tapir and HMS Tiptoe, IIRC. Any of those would be very welcome.
  3. I had the same problem with mine. I bought a bag of assorted o rings from ebay. Spent ages trying to work out which was the right one and how it all went back together but finally sorted it.
  4. I was wondering whether he should try a Vulcan, too. I've heard they are quite fun to build but the fit can be a bit of a pig if you aren't lucky.
  5. Great photo. You don't even have to blur your vision, just don't look directly at it and it virtually disappears. It reminds me of that photo of the BF109 flying over the desert. Didn't think I would find it so quickly but here it is http://www.tabletop-terrain.com/stu/archives/Bf109AfrikaKorp.jpg
  6. Well done. Both models look great and it was good to see them for real today. Sorry I couldn't stay for a longer chat.
  7. Time slows down as you approach the speed of light so brush really, really quickly. You'll get it all done and time enough to finish another.
  8. You should definately enter the group build. I entered a Sea Fury in the FAA group build and it was lots of fun. I even managed to finish in time and get a vote.
  9. You do like a tight dealine, it seems. Here's a little something to distract you. http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234958308-avro-vulcan-b1-xa902-repair-modification-paperwork-file-195861/
  10. Sometimes you add detail knowing that it will never be seen once the thing is together. In order to add some depth to the instrument panel I removed the central section of the decal and stuck it to a piece of scrap PE. Don't bother looking for it in the photo, it's completely invisible even when examined carefully in direct light. Oh well. Interior is painted with Citadel Straken Green with lighter dry brushed highlights and a Nuln Oil wash. The Rotol prop is the Halfords again and the exhausts were painted with Citadel Mechanicus Standard Grey, given a heavy wash with Nuln Oil and a silver dry brush. The harness is Eduard PE and a height adjustment lever was added from wire and stretched sprue to the side of the seat. Other tubes and cables were just bits of wire and stretched sprue.
  11. The one thing I didn't need to do was start another Sptfire. So I did. I certainly didn't need to start adding extra detail to the interior either. So I did that too.
  12. The build continues at a glacial pace but progress is made. Since starting this project, the new baby has somehow turned into a toddler who spends his time either wrecking or climbing on my stuff. I have also been distracted by a Mk IX Spitfire and a Seafire XVII but I am determined to finish. On the right is WZ.T finished in Humbrol and Revell enamels. On the left is WZ.C. The black is from a can of Halfords Matt Black which I thought I would try and it went on very nicely. The white is still in undercoat with black preshading. Both white wings have a little Citadel Nuln Oil in the panel lines to bring them out.
  13. I remember building the Stuka back in the 70s and it was a great kit. Still highly regarded from what I read.
  14. I don't know if you've gone out and bought your kit yet but if availability is a problem or you are worried about making a mess of it, you might want to have a look on Ebay. Second hand kits come up all the time at pretty good prices. I just picked up an old Airfix GR1 in 1/24 scale for £25. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Original-issue-Airfix-1-24-Harrier-GR3-Brand-New-Sealed-/351027486407?pt=UK_ToysGames_ModelKits_ModelKits_JN&hash=item51bade5ec7 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/airfix-kit-1-24-hawker-harrier-/371002925225?hash=item56617f60a9&nma=true&si=L2vkd%252FwRsfcNG6zdiHx6bNtNa84%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  15. If you give us the address of your local store we can start forming an orderly queue.
  16. As soon as I saw this I knew it wouldn't be long until robvulcan made an appearance. I didn't have to scroll down too far!

  18. And I thought I was bad with three of these spitfires on the go.
  19. On my first visit to the Cosford museum I spent ages looking for the Vulcan but couldn't see it anywhere. Finally I gave up thinking I must be in the wrong place only to realise I was standing directly under its wing! My 4 yr old son loves the place so much that we go quite regularly and often sit under the Vulcan and eat our sandwiches.
  20. Many years ago when I was a boy, I was travelling over Salisbury Plain when we heard a sound like the ground was tearing itself apart. I looked out of the car window and there, seemingly close enough to reach out and touch was a Vulcan. Now that was back in the 70s and I could be wrong about it but in those days hours and hours spent poring over Airfix catalogues made me an expert in aircraft recognition and they aren't easy to mistake. Seeing the Vulcan fly past at the Cosford show last summer, I was surprised at how quiet she was. Until they opened her up, of course. That was the sound I remembered.
