I bought one of these a couple of years ago. I was pleasantly surprised with it at first and managed to obtain some good results. However, that didn't last long and it soon started to give me all sorts of trouble, the main (and eventually fatal) one being it constantly blew all the air back into the paint cup and none through the nozzle. I tried everything I could but nothing would fix it. In the end I decided it wasn't worth the trouble and replaced it with an H&S Evolution.

Well, you know what you should do, stick the Spitfire wings on the Hurri fuselage. Easy.

An Airfix Defiant in 1/24? That would just be too much fun. Rotating turret, moveable guns, oh yes!- 273 replies

Same here, although it was a bit earlier than the "early 80s"! -

I just bought one of these after promising myself one for years. Might be a while before I get to start it, though, so will be watching this with interest...and nicking a few ideas. no doubt. -
Very nice. I'm doing this one as well. Just about to put the EDSG on.

Well done, that looks great. I've been thinking about getting one of these for ages and last week I did.

I have one of these as well and can recommend it.

Three Phantoms - Fleet Air Arm F-4K

Mistakes? I'm too busy looking at how cool they are to notice any mistakes. How can you not love an FAA Phantom?- 17 replies

That looks great although I was scratching my head wondering why you replaced the original pilot with brass tubing until I re-read what you'd actually written!

In FAA colours, of course?

I went last year and the year before that and it's well worth a visit in my opinion. There is plenty to see other than the flying displays and lots of model dealers to visit.

Well, look what happens when the wife and children are out for the day leaving you alone. The two remaining Spitfires have finally got a coat of Dark Earth on and I even managed to paint the undersides of the Seafire XVII as well. A new airbrush also helps.

Something like this? http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234941903-spitfire-mk1-172-tamiya-aires-eduard/

Is that a kit cat?

At the risk of taking this slightly off topic, I am constantly surprised at the lack of AM in 1/24. Especially when you look at some of the extremely niche products available in other scales. I wonder just how much of a market there can be for these yet there must have been thousands of 1/24 kits sold over the years. Surely it would be worth one of the AM manufacturers to give us some decent resin goodies.

Airfix 1/72 Spitfire IX
dadgaddad replied to Nomore Shelfspace's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
A Spitfire with D Day stripes, there is nothing finer. Nice work. -
I have a can of Hycote grey primer and I don't think it's as good as the Halfords. I might actually use it on the car.

How about something interesting for the 1/24 Spitfire and Hurricane? I'd particularly like to see markings for Eric Locke's Spitfire.

It might not win any prizes for originality but I did mine in the following humbrol enamels and it came out fine. 29 dark earth dark green 30 beige green 90
