I couldn't put it better myself. This is a hobby we do for pleasure, after all. Great build, by the way, Pat. Keep 'em coming! Regards, Alan.

There used to be a pub in Keswick where all the local bikers used to congregate and the same year I saw all the 3-wheelers in Ambleside, I saw them again at that pub, Sadly, when we visited Keswick last year, the pub had closed Cheers, Alan.

A couple of years ago in Ambleside, I saw a whole convoy of 3-wheeler Moggies passing through. Must have been about 20 (or more!). Made an absolute (wonderful) racket! Cheers, Alan.

1/8 Nagano Honda GL1000 K1 Goldwing 1975
Alan R replied to Lee Chambers's topic in Ready For Inspection - Vehicles
Not quite old enough to have owned any of these classics (except perhaps the CBX1000). I'm 67 next month (where the hell did the years go?...) I remember drooling over the Goldwing in our local Honda dealership in Rochester high street (1972/3 ish?) - Chambers bicycles. I had the brochures everything, but no money and no licence! Didn't get that until '78. Cheers, Alan. -
Do be careful (i.e. don't do it!) when using Halfords Lacquers on enamel paint. You will get an adverse reaction! Ask me how I know... Cheers, Alan.

I use a tea-light to heat up the screwdriver. We have a box of 50 from IKEA that have lasted years! Cheers, Alan

I had this kit way back when. From what I remember, it builds into a smashing replica even out of the box. Cheers, Alan.

Who'd want to be the pilot in one of these? Looks decidedly claustrophobic in there! Great build, though. Cheers, Alan. -

Lovely! There is something very special about these big V-twin bikes, no matter who makes them. Cheers, Alan. -
Lovely.

I can echo the DOT 4 brake fluid. Always worked for me. It can make the plastic a bit brittle, juts leave it in long enough to remove the varnish.

Love that Cx500 turbo! I never owned one, but a colleague at Rolls-Royce in Bristol let me take his (non-turbo) CX-500 for a ride around the car-park. No helmets, just pootling about. I'd heard that these beasties had a high C of G, which made them a bit of a handful when riding slowly, but I didn't find that. Cheers, Alan.

In the very early 1970s, my dad had a Ford Cortina Mk2 in Saluki Bronze (metallic dark Poo colour!). Must have been the time for browns. Cheers, Alan.

I do! So cute. And so rare these days!

Not a problem. My son implied that to me recently.

Is that in the latest Book of Boba Fett episode?

I have the Samba-bus and I thought that the engine area was a bit suspect. I thought about trying to replicate the engine and rear frame from the Tamiya VW Beetle? Not sure yet. I am fascinated as to how you might address this one... Cheers, Alan.

Hi Jeroen, I'll be looking in on this one for sure. It might even inspire me to get my Revell Samba Bus out of the stash... Cheers, Alan.

I often struggle with the lack of zeal for my hobby. So many things in life get in the way! It is after all a hobby for most of us, and it is only a pleasure when you feel in the right mood for it. (The cold weather doesn't help a lot. My workshop is in the un-heated conservatory!) Glad to see you getting started on this again. Cheers, Alan. -
Have you tried brake fluid? DOT 4, I think.

Decals look good!

IIRC this is an expensive kit, like their special edition Toyota 2000GT. Looks lovely though.

I have just recently (about two weeks ago) applied the decals on my Tamiya XJR-9 Apart from the fact that as they were so old, they were somewhat fragile, some serious touching up required in places, they showed the same 'graininess' (?) as yours. I used Micro-set and Micro-sol to get them to lay down. I don't know if this helps, but I had been watching some you-tuber using a hair-dryer to accelerate the decal softening and setting. I tried it and it does seem to work. Certainly speeds up decal application... Cheers, Alan
