  1. I suspect that as these kits are made to be put together and taken apart again, they are not Polystyrene.

My guess is that they are made of ABS or similar. I believe that Lego bricks are ABS.
If you want to paint it, I suggest that you prime it with a grey primer I use Zero-paints grey primer myself, but many here use Halfords grey primer. This will protect the plastic from the solvents in the top colour.

Also, only spray thin coats as this also reduces the potential for the solvents to dissolve the plastic.

Sorry if I am 'teaching Grandma to suck eggs'

Oh, I don't know about that.  How about The Thomas Crown Affair?  He looked cool and well tailored in that one.

That was a strange but compelling movie and with an ambiguous ending. Really unusual for a US movie at the time.

  3. I lived in Toronto for a year in 1988 and a colleague at my workplace had one of these. In the red.

Really pretty little car in the tin.

Wouldn't mind owning the real thing, if one was available in the UK. A few have been privately imported, I think.

Looking forward to seeing this thread progressing.

    Cheers,

    Alan.

P.S. Just found one in the west midlands  - £20,000. Out of my price bracket right now... :(

  4. Spotted the other day, an immaculate red XJS V12. It had quad pipes out the back, which I am certain wasn't OEM.

Burbled beautifully with an unmistakeable v12 burble - was at low revs, trickling into our local Tesco Express car-park.

    Cheers,

    Alan.
