  1. Oh dear. We seem to be suffering from "deleted-post-for-no-sensible-reason" syndrome again. Any comments please, @Julien or @Mike ???
  2. Indeed... And as far as China goes, that was just the beginning
  3. A classic way to create a monopoly is to undercut the competition. If you're based in a low cost environment (eg low wages, poor H&S standards, little regard for environmental concerns) this is very easy to do. Do it for a while and the competitors all go out of business. That's what's been happening to a lot of manufacturers... If something is cheap, it's rarely the best overall choice.
  4. And why is that, I wonder?
  5. Duncan - watch and learn. You could save a lot of time keeping your website up to date if you just put 'KITS' at the top of each page then a list of prices and a 'buy now' button.
  6. I reckon you should use decals for the eyes.
  7. That driver looks like a scaled down version of the one in the 1/24th James Bond Aston Martin... Although I can't imagine Bond in a Victor Estate...
  8. I think you'll find that up to the Mk.19¾ there was no lavatory, just outside urinals.
  9. The Daily Mail is well known for making things up and fomenting racist views. I question the accuracy of this 'news'.
  10. Commercial rubbish. He sold out with that one.
  11. The only music I've listened to for about 30 years is "My Grandfather's Clock" by Val Doonican. After hearing that, there is no need for any other music.
  12. Looks great but your images are 4000 pixels wide and 4MB in size and thus load slowly. They will display far more quickly and take up less bandwidth if you resize them to about 1000 pixels max dimension and substantially below 1MB. I'm not complaining, just passing on useful advice that is available elsewhere on the forum
  13. Grays, Chadwell St Mary then Workington for me. That was a bit of a culture shock
  14. I spent my early years not far from there, and I must say that Pistea is much more appropriate than the correct spelling of Pitsea!
  15. It's because each photo is very large - 6000 × 4000 pixels and about 4MB. If you want photos to display quickly and not clutter up the webosphere, keep them to about 1000 pixels in the largest dimension and well under 1MB each. I'm not criticising, just trying to share the good advice that's set out elsewhere on the site
  16. Absolutely fantastic. Too many excellent details to really single one out but the 'wear' on the headlight bezel is just perfect.
  17. Indeed @Mr Mansfield - but a magnifying headset has a lens for each eye so depth perception is kept as normal. They make a huge difference...
  18. This has been a great project to follow. I can't wait to see how you tackle the wings and engines. Because you won't be able to stop yourself, will you?
  19. What a thoughtful idea! He/she is lucky to have a friend like you. I don't have any experience of Herpa kits, but snap-fit models are generally good for beginners. When all's said and done, it's civil and it's KLM so I'd say go for it!
  20. Before you attack it with chemicals, try leaving the assembly in the freezer for a day or so. That should weaken the bond, then a bit of gentle manipulation will often result in a clean separation of the parts.
  21. You're obviously a fast learner - that's all looking very good
