  1. Great finish Sean. It sure looks like it just finished 24 hours at Le Mans. Can't wait for the GT40 now. How about a Porsche 917 after that to finish the GB cos you're building 'em so quickly? Phil.
  2. Nice one Sean, Thats a very clean build. The thing which gets me about the Fujimi kit is that with no engine detail, a very ordinary looking rolling chassis (that's the kit, not your rendition of it) is transformed by that body shell into the most beautiful of automotive shapes. Hey! Maybe we persuade Trumpeter to kit it in 1/12th to go ith their GT40? Keep going Sean. Phil.
  3. This was on the same Sky News page: Sky News article
  4. Wonderful work Michael. I particularly like the the 'grain' of the aluminium on the tub. The paintwork on the mechanicals stands out without being obvious too. Very subtle but very realistic. How about a late season Andretti car now? Oh, I have a question on the San Marino GP cars, did they run 13inch rear wheels or 15inch ones? The kit seems to have 13inch front and rear. Does the transkit stick with those sizes? Regards, Phil.
  5. I thought it was just me. I can't help thinking Italeri are getting more expensive and fast. Their SHAR1 is now £7.75 at Hannants. Wasn't it £6.50 not so long ago? Also, their 1/48 Hawk was announced at £9.99 2 or 3 years ago and now its coming out at £19.99! Does that mean it'll be twice as good? Are they making polystyrene out of milk these days? That's going up at about the same rate. Phil.
  6. Nick, Between the two, I'd recommend the Tamiya Mk I. It goes together really easily and is only £2 dearer than the Airfix one. You might also want to consider the new Pegasus Hobbies Mk I. I haven't seen any reviews but their Hurricane has been well received: Spit linky thing. Hurricane build Phil.
  7. I sent the following enquiry to Airfix .com this morning: Hi, Would the development team be interested in the Bae Hawk T1 which 19(F) squadron of the RAF are painting in the same camouflage scheme used by their Spitfire Mk Is in 1938? Here's a link: http://www.19squadron.co.uk/hawk.htm It would make a great 1/48th decal option for the existing Hawk T1 kit or perhaps a 1/48th Hawk/Spitfire gift set using the existing Spitfire Mk I kit ? It would only require new Hawk decals. The Spitfire kit kit needs no changes at all. I just got this reply: Dear Phillip We are aware of this and have been in direct contact with the organisers. We haven't made a final decision on whether we will be releasing this as a special. It is likely that if we did it would be for Club Members. Kindest Regards Martyn Weaver The Airfix Club Interesting...
  8. Great work Karl. I wouldn't have known that was the Airfix kit. That's all down to you. Phil.
  9. If Anigrand have any sense, they'll include the bullion van. Or maybe they'll go the Dinky Toys die-cast route and do an Italian Job Gift Set with the coach too! I'll get back to my dark corner now. Phil.
  10. I am so there! XX184 it is! That takes my 1/48 Hawk project list to 30 aircraft. I'd better get on with finishing the first one. Phil.
  11. Mike, Wow, I'd heard NeOmega's 200 was rough but that is ROUGH! Nice build. Can't wait to see your progress. How about BAe's demonstrator in its 'McLaren' livery: 'McLaren' Hawk 200. Airliners.net or a two tone blue/grey demonstrator scheme as shown on the cover of Peter March's book Hawk Comes Of Age: http://images.bestwebbuys.com/muze/books/0...81899808007.jpg Just my 2c's worth. 12. Rob, Try here: 1999.co.jp P-51B Phil.
  13. Ah well, thanks for the confirmation guys. BTW, I still don't understand why the RAF museum doesn't have a Hawk in it. I know all the flyable airframes are in use (or am I wrong?) but surely there have been enough damaged airframes to concoct one for display? Surely an ideal project for trainee technicians of various trades? Phil.
  14. Hi Folks, Obi-Jiff told me that someone on ATF had visited the RAF Museum at Hendon yesterday and seen a RA Hawk parked outside the Milestones Of Flight building with only traffic cones around it. I just phoned the museum. I was told it is there for today's 90th anniversary celebrations and the museum is closed to the public. The Hawk will be removed tomorrow but they didn't know what time it would happen. So, if you get your skates on tomorrow morning, it should still be there. Phil von WishingIwasn'tworkingtomorrow!
  15. I've successfully used Coca Cola to remove chrome but haven't tried it on paint yet. Phil.

Nice work Nev! I was told once by a Duxford museum guide that the RAF were offered F-15As when they went shopping for F-4Js for 74 Squadron post-Falklands War. Would have been nice to have instead of F-4J(UK)s. Phil.
  17. Mike, Flight International's cutaway drawing gallery includes these: Hawk T1 T-45A Goshawk (pre slatted wing mods) T-45A Goshawk (post slatted wing mods) Phil.
  18. Nice one Neil. Looks good, especially out of the box. I'm a big fan of Airfix's Hawks. They're not the most detailed kits ever made but for £10 they're great value and a fine starting point for anyone with AMS! Now i'd better get building one of the 6 I have in the stash. Phil.
  19. Gentlemen please! Lets not lose sight of the issue at hand here... Quick Sean, get building while I keep 'em quiet! Phil.
  20. Hmm, 1/12th P4 Spyder vs a house to put it in... Hey, at least I had to think about it! Phil.
  21. Nice work! I do like a good Hawk and that Finnish scheme suits it so well. Phil.
  22. Nice one Sean, You obviously know a drop-dead gorgeous car when you see one. I have a couple of Fujimi kits and a couple of old Union/Heller ones with full engine and rear suspension. One day, one day... BTW, anyone know why Fujimi never made a 330P4 Spyder from their kit? THATS the best looking car ever right Jeff? Some sprues are marked P4 Berlinetta and some just P4. Clearly they allowed for the common parts but the Spyder never happened. Who do I have to see about this one? Phil
  23. Nice work Dragan, I look forward to seeing the completed Hawk. Phil.
