I believe I might have those two parts in an old Airfix Greif box. I will let you know tomorrow if I find them. I've seen pictures of these halftracks and that "cowling" [Part 146] looks different from some images, but it may be right for some 250s: I'm no expert. A scratchbuild could work, as suggested by Rob G.

that would be great if you have them - thank you

look for a set of 1/32 Airfix Afrika Korps multipose,  it has an  MG34,    and you get 6 Afrika Korps figures to play with.

seems there was a boxing with figures as well.

Or ask in the wanted section for leftovers.

    great idea - thank you

  2. Ok so I've picked up on this build which I started in 2021 and lost interest in for a while! I'm now finding things are missing and could do with some help.

So the main machine gun is missing and I'm wondering if I can get an aftermarket replacement in this scale (1:32)? I've contacted airfix spares and they don't have any spares for this kit.

Also I missing the part (146) which fits directly under the engine cowling and in front of the front wheel axel. Figure I might need to fashion one myself - has anyone any ideas how to do it?

The figures are missing but I'm not so bothered about them!

    thanks

Is a Camel without humps a Camel?

    In this case, of course!

    Sopwith Camel Comic

After some delay due to other projects and some self created problems my project number 4 of 2023 is now finished: a Sopwith Camel Comic in 1/48 from Eduard. That was the night fighter version of the Camel.
This is the Profipack with some Eduard Brassin Print additions like wicker seat, Rotherham Air Pump and Lewis MG weapon set for the Comic.
As on my other models the airscrew, struts, tail skid and parts of the undercarriage are made from real wood. The rotary engine kit is from Small Stuff and the terminals of the RAF wires and turnbuckles are from Gaspatch.

It is a fantastic modern kit with great fit and engineering, for me the kit of the year 2022!

I have to say Thanks to Eduard for providing the kit and I'm really happy now to have this type in my collection! A detailed build log can be found on Scalemates.

And now have fun with the pics!

  4. This the third Italeri 1:32 Starfighter and I think it is an excellent kit. II've wanted to do a Spanish version for some time and am pleased with the result. I added Eduard cockpit detail and masks but otherwise it is all OOB. I used Revell enamel for main ADG colour and Alclad for the meta parts. I haven't attched the wing tanks permananently as I quite like it without them - I have shown photos with and without below.

Big thanks to MikeC who kindly sent me some decals after a cock up! Also thanks to other memebers on here for help with the colour for the main colour - appreciated.

I have an Italeri 1:32 F104 A/C to do although I might see if I can swap that for a 104G so I can do a Belgian or Dutch Starfighter.

  5. Tamiya 1:48 Mosquito FB VI representing RAF Coastal Command June 1944.
Thoroughly enjoyed this build and apart from canopy masks it was all OOB. Paints were Tamiya, Gunze and Alclad and some weathering from Ultimate Products.
The Mossie has long been one of my favourites but surprisngly I've not built one before so decided it was high time! Planning on doing some more soon.

Revell 371 with a hint of blue I'd recommend... maybe slightly darkened 371 even...

and here a scan of the Series Espanolas instructions:

Thats really helpful - thanks. 104-22 is the scheme with the kit and I'm just trying to see if the nose cone is a lighter colour

  7. I am currently building my third Italeri 1:32 Starfighter and this time its the TF104. I am thinking about do the Spanish option but not sure about the colour call outs in the instructions which seem to suggest flat aluminium. From photographs I've seen they appear to be more of a very light grey colour for the main overall colour. Can anyone advice me on what the correct colours would be?

    thanks

    Hello SkyHunter66,

I'm most of the way through a similar build as detailed in a WIP 53-67.

My version will have the blue underside.

You have chosen to apply the RSAF 'Roundels to both wings whereas the silver RSAF Lightnings had a RSAF roundel on the port wing and RSAF on the other wing.

Genuine question, do you have any evidence of both wings having roundels or chose to put roundels on both wings?

    Would appreciate your thoughts.

    Cheers.

Hi - thanks for the message but to be honest I can't remember as it was 4 or 5 years ago I built it! Good luck with your build and look forward to the finished article

    cheers

  9. I bought this kit a few years ago and decided it woule be my next project as the last time i built one was in the very early 1980's!

So given this is Rommels machine and Afrika Korps should the inside be the same colour as the outside as the call out is for dark grey?

Second the outside colour is given as Humbrol 74 Linen but this doesn't look right. What is the right colour for the 'yellow' and the camo 'grey'? I use Tamiya, Gunze and Vallejo in the main

Finally what are the correct colurs for the Afrika Korps uniforms - the kit gives me Rommel himself, a driver and another officer

    Many thanks!

The correct Gunze colours are as follows:

Dark Green: C330 (Mr Color) or H330 (Hobby Color)

Dark Sea Grey: C331 (Mr Color) or H331 (Hobby Color)

and the undersides in Light Aircraft Grey C332 (Mr Color) or H332 (Hobby Color)

Mr Color is the lacquer-based paint, whilst Hobby Color is their aqueous line.

It's worth bearing in mind that the  C331 Dark Sea Grey is a fair bit too dark and could do with being lightened. I seem to remember that the Light Aircraft Grey was also a bit darker than the actual colour too, but I'll have to check. I haven't seen the aqueous colours, so can't comment.

    Hope this helps,

    Mark.

ok thats great - thanks Mark
