  1. Hi Everyone.

After a long time lurking in the shadows and being generally blown away with the standard of modelling seen here, I felt it was time to have a go myself. So here is my 1st attempt at sticking plastic bits together since I was a lad (a long time ago!)

This incorporates several things new to me so is a real learning project. For example this is the first time I've attempted:

    masking

using super glue on a model

    cutting/repositioning parts

    airbrushing

    using decal solutions

    priming & clear coating

    & probably many others!!

I took some inspiration from the article by Mike Grant in the 'Circuits & Bumps' book - although I'm some way from achieving what he has!

There are a miriad of mistakes & beginners errors (such as thumb prints in the still tacky paint) but I am treating this as a learning process & finding the same levels of enjoyment in modelling a I did when I was a kid.

Comments & helpful hints gratefully received!

  2. Yes, one of our members in working on some sets to do that. He is currently a maintainer on the HC.4 fleet, so I'm expecting good things from them! Revell already an AEW version of their Sea King. You just need to have a look out for the Sea King AEW/HAS boxing from a while back. Comes with everything you need in the box, the only drawback being that the radome is depicted as an inflated one.

£22 for an etch set in 1/72? Seems a little on the steep side to me if that's the case!

Hi Colin. I thought it a little misleading as there's no image of the platic, but the description, as you rightly say, states kit plus detail parts set!

Thanks Harry - I'll keep my eyes peeled for the Revell kit for the AEW version.

  3. Hi & Happy New Year folks!

Spotted whilst browsing HLJ site, listed for January release is a Platz 1/72 Sea King AEW.2. From the box art it appears to be the Cyber Hobby kit and comes with a small etch fret from Eduard.

The cost is listed as 3,120y which comes out around £22.

  4. Typical!!!

Hi Edge, did they have any other 24th in WH Smith? they only had the spit in Debs.

    Cheers!

Mods please move/ delete this if required, it might be a duplicate thread.

I only saw the pile of Spitfires as I walked past. I was sorely tempted...........

yes but does she want a 1/24 Spitfire i allways buy perfume

I love my wife to bits but if I bought her anything model related (or useful - so no housey type stuff) I'd be out on my ear!!
