    Fairey Firefly

Petr that is music to my ears!!!!
  2. Wonder if this is something Ali, formerly of Alley Cat, is looking at? He mentioned that he'd be working on casting clear resin parts in the future & this does stand out as a definite gap in the market. Well to me anyway!
  3. I think you've just made a lot of people happy!
  4. Best of luck Bill. Everything crossed for you.
  5. At least the Victor makes a welcome return. Should stop the ever increasing price rise at a certain well known auction website! Maybe ine or two enterprising resin experts will conjure up some magic to produce other, so far unavailable, versions.......
  6. Just wondering if Special Hobby have any plans to scale down the new release 1/48 Fireflies to 1/72? Or at least re-release some of the earlier kits which are now unobtainable. Thanks
  7. I'd love to see all of these recent Firefly releases scaled down to 1/72. Blasphemy to some I know, but for those of us with less room, or a want to build a fair few of them, it makes more sense. Me?? I want more F & FR.1s, Mk.5s, AS.6s, T.7s, U.8s & 9s please!!
  8. I spotted their release earlier & noted there are a couple of MR.1's on the sheet. I wondered (hopefully) if they're to fit the yet to be announced Airfix kit?!! While the scheme for the MR.3 is for the extant Frog/Revell version. Here's hoping!!
  9. Lovely job on the model & what looks like an interesting book! I have a 1/72 Revell kit & Falcon conversion put aside for the time when I'm skilled enough to have a go at one of these. Best of luck with your book!
  10. Love these. Got my eye on the 1/72 versions but they look awfully small!
  11. Another pleading for Fireflies of all marks plus Albacore Is &IIs in 1/72!
  12. Just lovely. I had one in the stash, along with the Flightpath additions & MA decal sheet. Sadly sold some time ago to fund other 'essentials'!
  13. Hi Colin. Thanks for the update. December eh..... Looks like Christmas present to self is sorted!
  14. Make the painting & decalling plan the same size (where possible) as the kit. Where not include a note of what it's scale is compared to the kit. This way measurements can be accurately compared & a cut up copy can be used as a camouflage mask.
  15. Great work there! I'm on a similarly steep learning curve & nowhere near your level of competence.
  16. There's a guy who occasionally sells a polished metal 'dish' specifically for this kit. I bought one ages ago & stuffed it in the box for a 'one day when there's time' build. IIRC I paid about £14 for it - I'll try to find the details if you're interested.
  17. Very nice indeed. If only someone would produce a simple T.8M kit or conversion......
  18. As a serial starter & quitter of models I thought starting a WIP post might keep me motivated to finish a kit! Here's a few pics of a 1/72 Eduard F6F-3 Hellcat I've started. It's a Profipack version of the kit which I plan on finishing as a FAA aircraft. http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y394/edge957/IMGP1346_zpsf924396e.jpg http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y394/edge957/IMGP1352_zps39628574.jpg http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y394/edge957/IMGP1353_zpsa1b8a422.jpg http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y394/edge957/IMGP1358_zps2d22c35d.jpg http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y394/edge957/IMGP1357_zps08c493ee.jpg http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y394/edge957/IMGP1356_zps412e2123.jpg http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y394/edge957/IMGP1354_zpsc7686afb.jpg Some of the etched parts are incredibly fiddly & even when secured with superglue I've managed to ping a couple of pieces off the seatbelts into the unknown.
  19. I'd love to see an S1 without the need to graft on aftermarket intakes etc. But I guess any variant/ Mod will br well received in the UK if it's accurate & not too expensive.
  20. Thanks for the information Bill. I'm now scouring the internet for a Mk.I!
  21. Lovely start Bill. Do you or any wiser modeller than me (that's all of you!) know if this kit could be build as an earlier RAF type. Possibly a Mk.I or II? These kits seem as rare as hen's teeth whereas Australian variant can be found at least occasionally. I'm hoping that as you've had to swap the fin & alter the fuselage, all the original parts are still in the box. G
  22. At least 2 more over here please! (probably more if there's lots of pretty colours on the decal sheet!)
