  1. Thanks Mart.My local Hobbycraft seems to be drastically reducing the floor space it gives to model kits and accessories. They seem to have ditched Revell enamels and cut the range of Revell acrylics and Humbrol paints of both types drastically. Many thanks to the other members who've waded in to answer my question. I'm awaiting a package of the correct Revell enamels from E Models along with a set of the new Masterbox gas masked WW1 British Infantry, just to justify the postage outlay of course..It's a shame that we seem to be becoming more and more forced to use the internet and mail order as it's not the same as raking about in a real model shop ,picking up odds and ends you didn't know you needed.
  2. Thanks for the fast replies,I knew the answer would be here.Unfortunately Hannants aren't showing any Revell paints at the moment and my local model shop only has a small range of acrylics, these not included,so it's the old Google for me.Thanks again fellas.
  3. Hello, I bought a second hand example from Kingkit last year and I'm geared up to build it but can't seem to find the colours called out on the instruction booklet.I'm proposing to build the 45 Year anniversary SAR scheme and the Revell colours seem to be no longer in production,at least in enamels.Does anyone know which Humbrol or Tamiya colours are correct for the camo scheme,or indeed which of Revell's acrylics are correct as these are the only Revell paints stocked by my local model shop, although I'm not overly enamoured with these. Here's hoping someone in the Britmodeller world has the answer.
  4. Looks good. I've just started to build mine and i'm firmly in the poor fit brigade.Already had the tube of filler in action for the hull.Mine is ,I think the older boxing with grey panel along the bottom.Maybe Airfix tidied the fit up by the time the red box version came out.Good model though all the same
  5. Nice restoration job. There is a cheaper and more eco friendly alternative to Nitromors.good old Dettol household disinfectant. I've used it to strip paint from Dinky and Lledo/Vanguard die-cast cars and oil paint and Humbrol enamel from plastic kit parts. After a few hours the paint goes a sort of toffee-like consistency and can be removed under running water by brushing with an old toothbrush. After use the paint released into the Dettol graduallysinks to the bottom of the container so you can use it again after a week or so..Dirt cheap and effective.Only caveat is to check plastic kit parts regularly as leaving them in too long can soften them.A quick run under the cold tap usually restores them to original consistency.
  6. Hi Antti_K. Belated thanks for the Javelin info.Haven't been on Britmodeller since December so I've only just seen your post. Woody
  7. Thanks camper1. WS844 is the subject of one of the two illustrations on the decal shee for a 264 NF14,,although the two options for the CO's initials are HMT and JCF(1954 and 1957) both in yellow. Thanks for replying with the tail colour info so quickly I'll have a shufti around the internet to check the JCF marking as I plan to do a 33 Squadron Javelin which was the result of 264 being re-designated and re-equipped.
  8. Being a proud Geordie I am drawn to subjects which have a connection with Co.Durham and Northumberland. I'm currently nearing completion on an Xtrakit Meteor NF14. ModelDecal sheet with markings for 264 Squadron at Middleton St.George 1954-57 arrived this morning and the Squadron commander's aircraft is the one I'm going for. There is one thing I'm not too clear on,which I hope someone here can throw light upon. That is:is the whole tail assembly painted black ,fin and upper +lower tailplane surfaces,or just the vertical fin areas?. I've had a bad case of modeler's block for a couple of years but a couple of completed projects have got me motivated again,so I'm hoping someone out there knows the answer so the Meteor will be build 3 finished. Thanks in advance.
  9. The Howard Hawks"Thing" movie aircraft is one of the decal options in the Minicraft 1/44 ski-clad C-47 kit, although it's referred to as " 1950's Sci-Fi movie aircraft" for copyright reasons I suppose. The other option is possibly the crashed USAF c-47 shown on another link in this posting.
  10. About 10 minutes ago the BBMF did a circuit over Washington preparing for Sunderland Airshow tomorrow.Lancaster,Spitfire and Hurricane low over my house,I'm like a dog with two tails.
  11. Just joined and posted some cars and figures which is my main interest.I do the odd ship to recharge the batteries when modeller's block sets in(a change is as good as a rest). This is the old Glencoe US Coastguard lifeboat which I picked up on Ebay mounted on what I hope looks like a stormy sea.comments always welcome. Thanks for looking.
  12. Dodge Charger driven by Country singer Marty Robbins.Polar Lights Buddy baker kit with aftermarket decals. Buddy Baker kit again with aftermarket decals. Revell Ford Taurus Nascar in Nesquik livery(banana flavour apparently) Revell Monte Carlo Kellogg's Cornflakes livery AMT '62 Pontiac Catalina. Thanks for looking
  13. and our lot turn up in a Ford Focus-no sense of style.
  14. 1997 Thunderbird Nascar by Revell in Remington Small Arms livery.About as politically incorrect as you could get-a gas guzzler sponsored by an armaments manufacturer. AMT Ford Torino Cobra converted interior with scratch built roll cage and aftermarket Nascar markings. Tamiya Zakspeed Capri. Airfix Triumph TR7 Rally.Interior tub of this kit is totally inaccurate, good job it's impossible to see on the finished model. AMT Robocop Ford Taurus finished in Chimneyville decals depicting a Nashville and Davidson county P.D vehicle. Comments and constructive criticism always welcomed. Thanks for having a look.
