  1. On the way home this evening I saw a lovely dark green Triumph 1500 on the back of a recovery truck. It needed some work but looked complete and in good nick overall. then just about to turn into the estate where I live, a pale metallic green Citroen DS went past, one of my all time favourite cars. Karl
  2. Coming home this evening on the M40 a low loader with an Opel Blitz truck and matching trailer. Very cool! Karl
  3. Steve, great to see you making such good progress with your airbrushing! As a few others have said, switching to one of the better brands, I use Tamiya & Gunze paints, perhaps using Tamiya X-20A thinner and priming may well allow you to overcome some of the issue you've encountered to date, notably the paint lifting issue. For masking I always use Tamiya tape for the edges, as this seals better than normal DIY tape, and then just fill in the rest with DIY tape. I find this provides a neater edge, that often doesn't require retouching, without wasting relatively expensive Tamiya tape where you don't need to. Best of luck Karl
  4. Again on the M25, I spend too much time on the M25, a mustard yellow Rover P6 on the back of a recovery truck. It looked a little tired, but complete. Almost forgot, a very nice Ford Capri Mk1 in absolutely mint condition on the A30 yesterday. Karl
  5. It's a Toyota WiLL. On the way home this evening on the M25 I spotted a maroon Jensen C-V8, and what excited me even more, a Renault Fuego! Say no more. Karl
  6. On the A308 this morning a primrose yellow MGB and a very grubby but solid K reg Sierra. Karl
  7. RAF Hercules very low over Adderbury this afternoon. So low I saw him appear from behind a copse, and almost made me swerve off the road. Karl
  8. That looks stunning! Should look great under a coat of paint. Karl
  9. Gunze acrylics would be my choice, closely followed by Tamiya acrylics. Gunze brush paints better than Tamiya, but even Tamiya brushes OK with a little thinner. Karl
  10. Great job on the NMF! I've used Tamiya and Gunze acrylics in the past to good effect, and while not Alclad, they are a lot more forgiving. Karl
  11. Lovely looking build! Nice comparison with the Hurricane. Karl
  12. That is a truly gorgeous looking build! the weathering is excellent, and really captures the look of a well used airframe. Karl
  13. Lovely little build. the finish looks spot on for 1/72. Karl
  14. Sean I feel your pain! For what should be a simple build it has a lot of issues. Thanks for kind words all. Karl
  15. That is a stunning paint job! The weathering of the whitewash is absolutely spot on. Karl
  16. This is my second build for the Great Patriotic War GB, and used Airfix's most recent 190 kit with all its flaws. This kit is generally good, but has some real schoolboy errors, such as the saggy fabric on the ailerons and elevators, access hatch for the tail wheel repeated on both sides of the fin, no ammo bins in the wheel bays and overly extended oleos. I corrected the first two errors, and dodged the other two by building it wheels up on a stand. Decals are courtesy of HAD Decals and behaved beautifully with my usual mix MrSetter and MrSoftener. Again paints are my usual selection of Gunze & Tamiya acrylics, with both pre and post shading applied, along with an oil wash. Thanks for looking. Karl
  17. This is my stab at AZ Models excellent little Bf 109 G-2 in late war Romanian guise. It depicts a machine post Romania joining the Allies in 1945, and built for the Great Patriotic War GB. The kit is very nice, with excellent detail straight out of the box, while requiring a little more care than a mainstream kit. The instructions are a little vague in places, particularly with regard things like wheels and aerial masts which varies between early and late model G-2s, so apologies if mine aren't quite right. I won't tell if you won't. Paints are my usual mix of Gunze & Tamiya acrylics, thinned with cellulose thinners, xand applied with my trusty Badger 100S. Thanks for looking. Karl
  18. Bordfunker's Fw190 F-8 Hungarian Air Force 1945 Karl
  19. Bordfunker's Romanian Bf109 G-2 1945 Karl
  20. That looks like being a lovely little kit. I've built a few Finemolds kits over the years, xand while not quite Hasegawa, the detail is generally very good, and they have proved enjoyable build. Look forward to seeing your progress. Karl
  21. Numerous Ferraris on the M40 this morning and this evening, so assuming a track day at Silverstone. Karl
  22. I know it's been almost a month since my last update, but like the Romanian 109 I haven't been completely idle. The 190 is a bit behind the 109 in terms of progress, with just primer and pre-shade applied, all of that this evening! Which all means that I need to get my backside into gear to this one finished by the 1st. Karl
