  1. I built my own compressor using and old fridge compressor many years ago and its still going strong. Appriciate its not a route for everyone and it weighs a ton but it cost essentially nothing. Nigel
  2. I bought the UMM USA universal punch set (round ones) and am very pleased with it, I've used it for punching plasticard and 1/72 instrument decals. Recommended. Nigel
  3. I would like to know what you would recommend for rubber tyres. I mostly model WWII aircraft and use a dark grey enamel paint but think there may be better options. I have heard that Tamiya now offer an acrylic black that is supposed to be a good representation of rubber, has anyone used this and is it any good? I also seam to recall hearing of a paint that has a rubber like "feel" what is this and has anyone used it? Thanks, Nigel
  4. Where do you get the Tesa tape? I spoke to them and they recommended Trade First Ltd but they want £4.95 for postage which seams a bit steep (the tape itself is £4.05). They also said there was no local stockist (I'm in Coventry). I also checked out the thickness of these tapes, the Tesa 4334 tape is 90μm thick, Tamiya tape is about 80μm and the Nichiban is 70μm thick, so it realy is a bit thinner. Also the narowest Tesa tape available is 19mm which is a bit chunky for most modelling work. The Nichiban tape I had was 10mm and I think there are lots if other small widths available too down to a few mm.
  5. I use the Vallejo RLM set which work very well. Nigel
  6. This stuff is fantastic, its a bit like Tamiya tape but IMHO better. Its a little thinner than Tamiya tape and slightly translucent with can be handy sometimes. I used to work for a car company where they used it in the styling studios on clay models but I have just used up my last roll and would like to find a new source. Its from Japan so I could get it on the interweb but it would be nice to find someone in the UK who stocks it. I will be going to the Nationals next weekend so are there any suppliers there who may have it? Any replies appreciated. Nigel
  7. I love this aircraft and am stunned by the workmanship in this model. Amazing. Nigel
  8. I've early finished the Airfix 1/48 kit so looking forward to what you do with this. Nigel
  9. I returned to the hobby after basically a 20 year break and most of my materials were fine. A few paint tins (enamel) with poorly fitting lids had dried out as could be expected. Microscale masking film was liquid but no longer peeled off easily and the Microscale window film stuff had turned to brown gunk. All the Tamiya acrylics were perfectly OK. Nigel
  10. Looks great, I like the colourfull scheme, presume this is based on informed imagination. I'll be getting this kit if I see it at the IPMS Nationals in November. Where did you get the extra decals? Cheers, Nigel
  11. Those spinners and necelles look amazing - great painting job. Nigel
  12. Can't wait for the next thrilling installment (and progress in construction). Nigel
  13. Keep up the good work, can't wait to see it finished. Nigel
  14. Nice build, I've got a couple of these Huma kits so was interested to see this one going together. Thanks, Nigel
  15. Absolutely amazing, how the hell do you do it? Nigel
  16. Superb stuff, this is just the sort of subject I like to build. Must try to get me one. Nigel
  17. Top notch paint finish , I'm particularly impressed by the canopies. Nigel
  18. Very nice job. Is that exposed engine from Quickboost? I am currently building a 1/72 Hasegawa 1a 262 with a Quickboost enging and will be copying some of your detail painting on the engine. Thanks! Nigel
  19. Great job, I also can't wait to see the more detailed shots. Nigel
