Not exactly the prototype, the short series of some 20 was produced, majority of them were sent to France and some like 13 took part in 1940 campaign in hands of  mostly Polish pilots, therfore in Poland this is not consider so rare among modellers... By the way - the use in war was without sucesses.  (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koolhoven_F.K.58

Hadz - very nice build, I see some aftermarket parts or scratch upgrade, am I right? The painting scheme is out of box?

    Cheers

    J-W

    Hi Wojtek,

all parts are from box, only MG barrels are from other kit and the emblem mermaid is a decal on individual order. Based on the scheme from Polish Fighters Vol.I - Stratus.

Congratulations on a splendid restoration work.

I like the colors you chose for the camouflage. They look spot on. My only small beef is with the light blue grey of the underside, which is possibly too blue.

    Great looking model

my French colleagues said they are not perfect and suggest:

marron: 50% de H 84 cacao brun et de H17 acajou
    vert: H 73 dark green
gris bleu foncé: 50% H53 neutral grey + 40% gris FS36118 H305 + 10% H54 intermediate blue (la proportion peux varier , mais gaffe le bleu domine très vite)
    gris bleu clair: 70% H67 RLM65 + 30% H11 blanc

  3. Morane Saulnier MS.406 C1 serial no. 947 of plut.pil. Antoni Beda Damblain airfield - GC I/2 Mai 1940.

I built this kit ca. 1995, brush painted with Humbrol paints and Berna Decals for a Polish Morane. Last year I decided to renovate this kit.

after removing of decals and small parts, with new coat of light blue grey and French colours on the rudder.

    Now it's done.

This was my first Eduard kit. I chose to get aftermarket decals in order to do a Polish MiG-15. Polish built MiG-15s were called Lim-1s, with the MiG-15bis being Lim-2. However, as @GrzeM kindly pointed out, not all Polish MiG-15 were built in Poland -- some were imported from the USSR -- so this could be a MiG-15 or a Lim-1. WIP is here.

The soviet delivered MiGs-15 had two digit numbers, Polish built three and four.

  5. My next project is serial PZL P.50a, unfortunately this series was not completed before the war. A few unfinished aircraft found Germans in one of the parks in Warsaw. There are only a few pictures of non-finished Hawks. My model presents a hypothetical airplane fighting against Soviet aggression (Soviets attack on Poland 17.9.1939), somewhere near Moscow in the summer of 1940.

  7. I present my next model.
Vickers Wellesley from the Polish Aeronautical Technical School for Minors in Heliopolis (Egypt). At that time, it was already a flightless, serving only to learn cadets, and got the number 4723M, which was generally painted "traditionally" M4723. The plane was repainted from the night bomber (apparently it was L2657), the lower black surfaces were repainted in yellow. Kit is the old Matchbox with Aeroclub Bristol Pegasus, propeller from spare and vacu canopy from Falcon, painted with Xctrarylics paints.

There are stories of a P.24 being used in combat but they are false and originate from Henryk Szczęsny who did fly the P.11g Kubuz in combat shooting down one German aircraft. However he thought the Kubuz was a P.24. Well, lets face it, it looked more like a P.24 than a P.11.

maybe yes, maybe not. I think it was more P.11c then P.24, the serial plane will looked more as a P.24, prototype - I think not.

  9. At 1-st September 1939 Germany attacked Poland, at 17-th September the Soviets as German ally invaded Poland and this was the End of Second Republic. The last battle from the Polish regular army was at 5-th October by Kock. After that the Poles fought in underground and in France, England and all other countries which was fought against the Nazis. In Jalta they were "sold" Stalin by Roosevelt and Churchill for the next 45 years. The Polish Air Force never flown the PZL P.24 but ... this is only my idea - a Polish P.24 in spring 1940 near to Kiev (Ukraine - Soviet Union).

Very nice and shiny airplane. Excellent paint work.

One question I always have seeing similar airplanes - what was the reason to design monoplanes with high mounted wing? Did it help to increase lift with the airflow from the propeller? Or just an attempt to give pilot better view downwards?

    Thank you.

It gives better view as a biplane (up and down), this was the reason for designer Pulawski 1929, when he designed the PZL P.1

  11. Bulgaria bought in Poland twelve PZL P.24B's wich was delivered in 1937. In Bulgaria P.24 was named "Jastreb" (Goshawk).
In this time Bulgaria was still a monarchy under Tsar Boris III. When the heir to the throne was born on June 27, 1937, "Simeon Kniaz Trnowski" was painted on the side of airplane 1 of 1(11) Squadron to commemorate the event.
Bulgarian P.24B's they served until destroyed by American bombers in 1944 at an airfield near Karlovo.
The red elements were painted from self made mask, the sentence come from Kagero book about P.24.
