  1. I gave these kits to my niece when she was a kid (maybe around 10) and put on the stickers with the Swedish names on the boxes so that she would know what they were. I never reflected over the Swedish name before. It is one rödhake and two rödhakar. Röd is of course red but the second part of the name is a bit strange. A hake is a hook/catch but that makes mo sense. I wonder if it comes from the Swedish word for chin or jaw. That would be haka and in some parts of Sweden it would be pronounced hake. So a red chin would perhaps make some sense. Google has told me that my conversion and painting of the bullfinches are OK. I was trying the Google Lens app on my phone and it said that it was a Bullfinch and a Big Tit 😀
  2. I am now leaning toward a European pied flycatcher. Looks close enough to the Robin in my eyes and my sister have them in her garden.
  3. I have decided on a wooden stand that can hang on the wall or stand on a table. I drilled holes in the legs to mount metal wire for more strength so it will be something like this. Then there is this box but it is not for this GB. I added them as a bonus. Way past the 25% finish rule. My niece started on them when she was a kid but they never got finished so I will try to finish them. I will probably paint one as another bird.
  4. I prefer buttoned up as I think anything opened up destroys the lines of the machine. The only time I can enjoy a open up machine is if it is in a setting that explains why, like a diorama. I have seen impressive builds but all I can think is why are all those hatches open and why are there also missiles hanging under one wing and on a dolly under the other. If it is in a large service shouldn't the missiles have been off the plane?
  5. I read that the 1/20 scale came with the need for the electric engines to fit.
  6. I think that is for the old tube glue.
  7. I shouldn't have looked at this thread. Now I must look at the one I built and the original to check the tails.
  8. It is looking good but you got the numbers placed wrong on the right side: http://surfcity.kund.dalnet.se/gladiator_sweden.htm
  9. Same as Esci. Three of them with shirts but all of them in shorts and as they have separate arms easier to convert than soft plastic figures.
  10. Six figures iI think: https://www.onthewaymodels.com/reviews/Italeri/AMagnus_Italeri_25pdr&Limber_review.htm
  11. I think that the sled is the same and the aircraft manufactures issues the forward fuselage that mounts on the sled.
  12. Gripen pictures here: http://www.ipmsstockholm.se/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2385#p19016 Sadly Photobucket is sabotaging the pictures but the difference of the versions is shown. Including rear instrument panels of the B and D versions. I am building this one myself and will use my paper panels.
  13. The fuselage brackets and the cutout on he lower part of the fin is for the equipment shown would fit. Another thing that differ between the A/B and the C/D versions are the "bulge" on the top of the fin. The rear part differ between them. Less visible are the instrument panels that is different on the C/D compared to the A/B
  14. It will be my sister handeling them so I think they will survive (for a little while at least). I have a box with some started Robins as well. I wonder if there is a another bird that are similar to them so I could make a simple conversion like the one I did with the Great Tit.
  15. I will end painting here. I don't want to ruin what I did achieve. I mounted the eyes and next will be the legs and something to mount them on. I will not use the Airfix stand. I think it will be to flimsy. My sister want to have these at her preschool so I need something that can be handled.
  16. I think it is more green in the picture that in real life? Is the background light blue or grey?
  17. Here is the initial version before it was upgraded with parts from the danish planes. personally I like this scheme better without the big numbers on the wings. I made the same rebuild of the intakes on the spine on my american Draken that is needed for an Austrian: https://baecklund.eu/scalemodels/72/j35us.html
  18. I was lazy: https://www.alleycatmodels.co.uk/raf-air-sea-rescue-pods-for-the-defiant-and-lysander-6491-p.asp
  19. I did some more painting today. They are turning out much better than I had hopes for. I'm no good when it comes to painting
  20. Yes. Even if they didn't care about the life of the observer they probably would be interested in the observations he would make. The observation Hurricane would be something different to build.
  21. The post where the observer said that he sat with hes feet flapping in the wind as there was no floor. Wouldn't it be hard to to avoid falling out when the plane manoeuvred?
  22. With the big hole in the floor it must have some safety belts as well.
  23. The Tamiya colour I am using now is the XF61. I think it is the closest I have found in the Tamiya range to the original paint chip.
  24. Sorry about this. I only bring these bad news during the build so can the builder chose to do what he want with the info. I never comment about faults I find on a finished model unless the builder asks about it. This is why I show most of my in the work on line. It is nice to get no now the faults I made before it is to late.
